Too often our love for God,
grows lackluster and dim . . .
turning cold our desire
to follow after Him.
We lose our focus,
in a world full of greed
till we no longer count
on God to meet our need.
Our eyes start to ache,
after things lustful
till our bodies into sin
eagerly fall and tumble.
Our arrogance and pride,
starts to get in our way
causing us to forget . . .
one day all will pass away.
Too often our love for God,
grows lusterless and dim
but, we who love not the world . . .
will spend eternity with Him!
~~~~~~~~
1 John 2:15-17
Love not the world,
neither the things
that are in the world.
If any man love the world,
the love of the Father
is not in him.
For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh, and the
lust of the eyes, and the pride
of life, is not of the Father,
but is of the world.
And the world passeth away,
and the lust thereof:
but he that doeth the will
of God abideth for ever.
Away with the manger,
no need for a bed
the birth of our Savor
is best left unsaid.
The unbeliever’s of the world,
look down from their nose
when the name of our Lord Jesus
on them we impose.
The masses are in agreement,
saying CHRISTmas is a mistake
but covetousness for the season
they will never forsake.
We love thee materialism,
we love thee so much
and to their credit card idols
they bow down and clutch.
Be clear to say happy holidays,
season greetings to you
but don’t mention the babes name
or you they may sue.
They bless all of their goodies,
their toys and their playthings
but want nothing to do with the gift
that the sweet baby Jesus – brings!
Lord, may I not bow,
to the gods of this day
may my heart and soul
never to them sway.
May I not bend,
to the god of tolerance
may I not open my mind
to this ungodly audience.
May I not curtsy,
to the god of worldly greed
may I not pay the high cost
of following this god’s creed.
May I not fall down,
to the god of self-worship
may to this god I see
how it’s eternally worthless.
May I not lower myself,
to the god of secularism
may I not stoop for
the god of liberalism.
Lord, may I only bow to You,
the God of all creation . . .
may I always give to You
my full undivided devotion!
Romans 1:23-25
” And changed the glory
of the uncorruptible God
into an image made like
to corruptible man,
and to birds, and fourfooted beasts,
and creeping things.
Wherefore God also gave them up
to uncleanness through the lusts
of their own hearts, to dishonour
their own bodies between themselves:
Who changed the truth of God into a lie,
and worshipped and served the creature
more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever.”
Keep searching me Lord,
keep probing my heart
take my anxious thoughts
before they even start.
Keep leading me Lord,
whether it be night or day
direct me in Your light
onto the everlasting way.
Keep exploring me Lord,
keep looking deep within
bring me to repentance
over every hidden sin.
Keep guiding me Lord,
keep me on the right path
let me not fall onto the one
that brings eternal wrath.
Keep evaluating me Lord,
keep discovering in me
any pride, greed or lust
in which, You still can see.
Keep searching me Lord,
put me under the spotlight
till all of the wickedness
in me, You highlight!
I just want to breathe in,
nothing but fresh air . . .
pure, life-giving, clean
but, finding it is rare.
Instead, all I do is gasp,
at the smut, filth and muck
choking back the grime
in a world that’s gone amok.
At times, I take in a deep breath,
but find myself wheezing
so many things in the atmosphere
that to God, are not pleasing.
The pollution man’s created,
makes it impossible to inhale
for lust, greed, and immorality
I constantly have to expel.
I just want to breathe in,
nothing but God’s fresh clean air
pure, life-giving, unpolluted
but, there’s so little left ~ out there!
I make no excuses,
no false pretense
I am just a sinner
I have no defense.
Born of rebellion,
conceived in sin
envy and spite
were my closest kin.
Dead in trespasses,
deceitful to the core
greed and pride oozed
out of every pore.
Disobedient to God,
just like in Eve’s story
wickedness and evil
stole all of His glory.
I make no excuses,
a sinner I am . . .
but, I’ve been saved by
the blood of the Lamb!
Examine me dear Lord,
see through my disguise
tear away the mask
expose the lust in my eyes.
Examine me dear Lord,
test my mind and my heart
point out the inner flaws
keeping us apart.
Examine me dear Lord,
pull back the veil on my sin
show me where my pride
is still rooted in.
Examine me dear Lord,
bare my soul’s weakness
uncover my selfish acts
all that is needless.
Examine me dear Lord,
tear away the disguise
till all I can see . . .
is Your image in my eyes!
Lord, please set me free . . .
from the burden of religion
cast aside the smoke and mirrors
that are clouding up my vision.
Break down the wall of greed,
shatter the egotistical foundation
that is in Your church today
so I’ll not be led into temptation.
Sever the chains of works,
tear apart the man-made laws
crush under Your foot
each statute and every clause.
Pull me out from under,
all the whistles and the bells
take way all my earthly idols
lest I may find myself in hell.
Lord, please set me free . . .
from being just religious
for I know without repentance
there will be no forgiveness!
Sinners wanted . . .
inquire within
looking for those
willing to die to sin.
Experience needed,
in both greed and pride
looking for those
eager to be My bride.
Seeking those skillful,
in lying, murder, and stealing
looking for those
who need a heart and soul healing.
Knowledge appreciated,
in selfishness and conceit
looking for those
who need a Savior to meet.
Practice in immorality,
is not the only must
looking for those who want
to conquer every lust.
If you are interested,
come right on in . . .
I have been wondering
where you have been!
. . . Love Jesus
Oh, conflicted soul be quieted,
don’t you know it’s for naught
battles won ~ battles lost
are lessons being taught.
To the youth as you once were,
the fight today is still the same
just a different time in space
with a new and modern name.
Speak the truth do not deny,
the war that goes on and on
from generation to generation
or else the conflict won’t be won.
Rebellion is the ammunition,
pride and greed the smoking gun
tis the same war against the Lord
as when the world first begun.
Lead the way, light the path,
guide the youth before they turn
to the world for their escape
lest in hell ~ they shall burn!
Sinful ones, God sees from high,
don’t believe, don’t know why
living off sin, lust and greed
don’t believe, don’t see the need.
Foolish ones, God knows you,
don’t believe, don’t want to
working on your own defense
don’t believe, don’t see the sense.
Haughty ones, God sees you all,
don’t believe, don’t have the gall
going about your wicked day
don’t believe, don’t see the way.
Prideful ones, God calls your name,
don’t believe, don’t feel the same
moving in your careless fashion
don’t believe, don’t see His passion.
Wandering ones, God wants you back,
don’t believe, don’t see your lack
leaving behind His loving grace
don’t believe, no longer seek His face!
I don’t want much,
there’s so little that I ask
but I do need God to give me
strength for the task.
Temptation is so real,
I sit in front of it every day
and I really have to learn
how to look the other way.
At times I linger around,
for what I think I need
and on the attraction . . .
I wait to feast and feed.
Oh, that God would grant me,
the power to overcome
for my hope is one day . . .
all temptation ~ I’ll outrun!
There is a road most traveled on,
I see plenty of people on it today
you too may know of it . . .
for it leads to spiritual decay.
It is as wide as it is long,
it’s paved with greed and pride
and those who travel on it
are arrogant, smug and snide.
Satan has smoothed the way,
with lust and every immorality
and the throngs gladly follow
for it is the “New Age” reality.
On their journey they take along,
their love for ungodly things
and if you get in their way
animosity at you, they will fling.
Sadly, our country is on this road,
and its leading to total devastation
you too may know of it . . .
for it’s in the Book of Revelation!
Once I walked the course,
that paved my way with sin
my steps were bound to take me
where Satan was sure to win.
I followed my own desires,
and lusted after even more
I strolled the streets of greed
and knocked on resentment’s door.
I pursued the work of darkness,
and ate up all the fame
I labored in the halls of envy
with covetous as my aim.
I ensued after my own pleasure,
with Satan beneath my feet
my gratification kept me marching
to his disobedient beat.
I became skillful in the world,
and paved a road for my delight
until I came upon a bridge
that exposed a saving light.
In the span of my awareness,
I saw just how ugly I became
and it was at this very moment
I felt the sting of my own shame.
Oh, how grateful now I am,
to be saved by that connection.
now my path is paved and planed
with God’s design and intention.
Some people are driven by greed,
by their lust after worldly things
some are driven by their faith
and the hope that Jesus brings.
Some people are driven by success,
by their jobs and the money they earn
some are driven by the Word of God
and what in their Bible they learn.
Some people are driven by the riches,
that living in this world offers up
some are driven by the mercy of God
and the grace He holds in His cup.
Some people are driven by their homes,
their cars, their boats, their toys
some are driven by the peace of God
and the thought of eternal joy.
Some people drive their own chariot,
and put their trust in worldly things
some people trust in Jesus
and are driven by the love He brings.
Liars, all liars
wolves in sheep skin
taking the Word of God
putting on it their own spin.
Twisting and slanting,
the Word until it fits
not caring what story
that it flips or knits.
Liars, all liars,
sin to them hasn’t a yoke
shunning the Gospel truth
turning the cross into a joke.
Filling up the pews,
counting all the money
lies on their greedy lips
taste as sweet as honey.
Liars, all liars
fruits that are rotting
stinking to high heaven
liars, who need stopping!
Sometime I think if I were Eve,
I would’ve done something different
other than to be led astray . . .
by that slimy, slithering, lying serpent.
I would’ve given it more thought,
about having all that knowledge
since what I know about the world
I’m not too proud to acknowledge.
I would’ve given it more reflection,
a garden that was abundantly lush
or this one that is filled with smut
crawling in greed, pride and lust.
You see I really don’t like apples,
or fruit of any kind . . .
and I don’t think I would have let
Satan slither his way into my mind.
But, then I do love vegetables,
chicken, pork and beef . . .
and who knows if I was offered them
if I would have given satan any grief.
I guess the moral of my dilemma,
is satin knows just how to tempt you
be it a fruit on a tree . . .
or a juicy burger on the barbecue.
So be very careful,
this slimy, slithering, lying snake
will offer you anything . . .
so from Jesus your soul ~ he can take!
