I was born into the family of God when I was ten years old and have rededicated my life almost every day since. I believe my walk with the Lord, is step-by-step, hour-by-hour, and sometimes minute-by-minute.
Each day, I press on towards the goal in front of me, to be more like Jesus, but I often fail.
By His grace and mercy, I can always count on Jesus to pick me up and set me back on His path. One day, I know I will be perfect and my walk with Him will be as it should, but until I see Him in heaven . . . I just keep on keeping on . . .
Thank you for reading my poetry. I pray God will use it to speak to those who are in need of the words He inspires me with and that God will bless you and guide you into all of His truths.
Not as though I had already attained,
either were already perfect: but I
follow after, if that I may apprehend
that for which also I am apprehended
of Christ Jesus.
Brethren, I count not myself to have
apprehended: but this one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind,
and reaching forth unto those things
which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize
of the high calling of
God in Christ Jesus.

Hello Deborah, thank you for this beautiful poetry. This Sunday I’ll be preaching on Ps 23:2 “He leads me beside still waters.” Because of the pandemic we are currently recording our worship and then live streaming it.
I’m wondering if I could read your poem “Those Still Waters” beside a small stream feature at our church and then have the camera focus on the stream for about a minute. I would be a great blessing to St Paul Presbyterian Church in Johnston, Iowa, where I serve.

You’ve been a blessing to me esp. your peotry on 1 Peter 5:7, very timely and it relates to me and other people for sure. I just started writing songs for my local Church music group (here in the Philippines).. can we please use your poetry as lyrics of songs? Thanks for being a blessing, keep on encouraging the body for God’s glory.

Hi Deborah I saw your poem Thankful on your Facebook page yesterday and the words in the first verse : stubborn eyes- I can relate to that! I tried to e-mail the poem to a friend and one e-mail to me- but as yet I haven’t received it. So maybe God wants me to ask how you are? I am continuing to pray for you and let you know that our Faithful God has your back- whatever you are experiencing. May God continue to richly bless you to overflowing with His constant and awesome love today and always- love Deborah Garrott ( in Australia ).

Hi Deborah, I was just thinking about you the other day . . . so I am happy to hear from you. How are you doing? All is well here and yes “God has my back” and every other part of me as He carries me through most days. It is amazing what He has done in my life since I lost my son, and I am in awe of His love and grace for me, for without it who knows where I would be emotionally. I do pray He too is working in your life and that He blesses you with everything that is good about Him. Such a wonderful God we serve and love, there just isn’t any other like Him. ~ Praying you and your will have a blessed Thanksgiving season ~ Deborah Ann

Hello Deborah Thank you for your reply- sorry it has taken this long to make contact. I have enjoyed the beautiful song- Putting On The New Man! Sounds amazing. Life here in Queensland is not without challenges but because I experience God’s faithfulness and grace I have hope. We don’t do Thanksgiving. I have to make an effort for Christmas as I don’t cope with the commercial slant. We have just received some much needed ground drenching rain. Hopefully this Summer will be less dry than the past 2 years. We get our rain in the Summer here. I trust that you and all of your family have a blessed Christmas and that you don’t get too exhausted in the process. I love reading your poetry every day- thank you so very much – love Deborah.
December 10th, 2017 at 7:35 AM
I too have a hard time getting with the “Christmas spirit” as I want it to be about the “CHRISTmas Gift” of Jesus. I pray you get some good rain where I live I pray for less rain as we get 40+ inches every year no matter what! I am glad you are still reading my poems and I pray God will bless you with what He gives me. May you and yours have a very merry CHRISTmas one that is full of peace, joy and hope! Love Deborah Ann

Hello Deborah This is from Deborah in Australia – just thought I’d contact you and let you know that I really love reading your poetry every day. I want to tell you that on Sunday August 5th; my Husband died unexpectantly in a motor bike accident. He was a godly man aged 66 and worked for 16 years as a Prison Chaplain. The shock is hard but my faith in God is the only thing that I hold dearly and know that God will help me get thorough this. May God continue to bless your beautiful heart today and always- Deborah Garrott.
August 20th, 2018 at 9:52 AM
Oh Deborah I am so sorry for your loss. I know that God will be your source of comfort and He will hold you in His mighty right hand and cover you in His feathers through this time of grief and pain. I understand the shock of losing a love one suddenly and know that your faith will only get stronger and that though it you will know His peace like never before. Please feel free to email me any time. ❤❤ Love you dear Sister in Christ ❤❤

Scott . . . you just proved once again God’s timing is always perfect. As I needed to hear some encouragement today. So He had you leave this for me. It is getting close to my son Glenn’s birthday. He would have turned 44 and I was having a hard time this morning thinking about his death and all that he and I were missing out on. Your words touched my heart and lifted my sprits. Thank you and thank You Lord for putting it on Scott’s heart to leave me this message today! Amen and Amen

Hello again just letting you know that you are such a wonderful blessing! I have recently purchased the new Passion Translation and Psalm 16:11 – For You bring me a continual revelation of resurrection life, the path to the bliss that brings me face- to- face with You. I looked it up when I saw the same verse under one of your recent poems. I trust that this will encourage you also – with God’s abundant blessings to you- Deborah.

I like the translation . . . face to face with God . . . just thinking about being in His presense fills me with such a sense of peace . . . can hardly wait! ~ Praying you have a blessed day with Jesus ~

January 9th, 2016 at 5:23 PM
Dear Deborah Happy New Year! Your poem Confident Hope today (Jan 10th;) is really encouraging and I do relate to that! Also thank you for praying for me when I went away recently. I was challenged in many ways. We had gone to visit some children who were orphaned as a result of a typhoon. They live in a slum area. One lady(now a new friend) told me that she had been praying for 2 years for me to visit her. I was unaware of that before I met her. My Husband had gone there back in 2011. I do not know why I went but I am sure that God knows! God bless you exceedingly and abundantly love Deborah.
January 15th, 2016 at 11:15 AM
Hi Deborah . . . I pray you too will have a blessed year ahead. Wow, did you know the lady before you went there. I love how the Lord had her pray and how He sent you there without you knowing or understanding why. I am sure your visit was used to show her the love, grace and mercy God has for all of His children, all over the world. God bless you for going where He was leading you and giving this lady hope . . . God indeed answers our prayers . . . Do you have plans of going back? Thank you for all your encouraging comments they do so bless and inspire me 🙂 ~ Love and heavenly hugs to you ~ Deborah Ann

I don’t know if you’re aware of this or not, but each month, I write a post called Share the Love, where I feature someone else’s blog, sharing it with my readers, so that they can come and check out that person’s blog. I always wait for the person the Lord places on my heart, and He’s placed you and your blog on my heart to feature July 1. Please check out this link, which describes my vision for Share the Love:
My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Please send me an email and let me know if you woud allow me to Share the Love with you this month. Also, I would need to know which of all the posts you have shared is your favorite, so I can share it, and if you’d like to share what led you to start this blog, that would be great as well. I look forward to hearing from you soon, as I need to begin working on it as soon as possible.
Many blessings and much love to you,

I’ve been meaning to tell you about a special weekly email I started separate from my blog posts called Wanderings. Readers are wandering – walking together – through life focusing on God…Sharing stories and encouragement. I thought of you and wondered if you’d like to receive it?
I’d love for you to join us!

I’m so hopeful they bless you!!
I’m also a goof ball for leaving Renee’s name on that above! I invited her and you and couple other bloggers that I interact with regularly. So I copied it and personalized it to you (since I love your poetry!!) but left her name on it.
My brain!! Too full!! Haha!
Anyway… Yes your poetry is inspiring me to write some again!
God bless you sweet lady!!

🙂 my brain isn’t just too full at times it feels as if it has released itself of being such a burned on my soul . . . and it just stops working! But, the good Lord puts it back into service . . . for Him. Looking forward to receiving your emails and seeing some of your poetry . . . I bet it will be AWESOME!
PS I had to edit this reply three times because of spelling errors 😦

I really love your blog. You write some great poems! Keep going, you are blessing many with these words 🙂
May 4th, 2013 at 8:36 AM
Thank you so much for your kind words. When I write a poem I ask the Lord to let it bless at least one person. If just one soul can find peace, or joy, or hope in their words than I know they came from the Lord and not from me. ~ Blessings ~

I just wanted you to know that I’ve nominated you for the Sunshine Award. You can read about it here:http://christinajoneswriter.com/2013/04/26/sunshine-award/
April 27th, 2013 at 11:54 AM
Thank you so much! But, I have made my blog a “No Award” zone. I have received many awards in my life, hung them on my wall proudly displaying my accomplishments for all to see. But, God had me take them down . . .telling me to focus in on the rewards in heaven instead. So my walls are bare, my blog is awardless and who knows what treasures await me. ~ Blessings ~

I found my way over here from Deb’s Blog and am glad I did. I look forward to reading more of your poetry. I also write Christian poetry on my blog, though I write a lot of prose as well. Poetry is a great vessel for God’s truth. Peace, Linda
