My God is so big . . .
He can conquer anything
He can turn a dry river
into a life-giving stream.

He can carry my heavy load
He can lift from me my burdens
send them packing down the road.

No Laws Against ~
Everyday there seems to be,
more rules, new laws . . .
mandates unbelievable
filled with plenty of flaws.
But, I know of some things,
there are no laws against . . .
for they’re not made up by man
but, Holy Spirit dispensed.
They distribute faith,
gentleness they allot
they give us temperance
when our nerves are shot.
They provide to us love,
joy they daily release
into our souls they render
the promise of eternal peace.
They help us to be meek,
by filling us with goodness
making it easier for us
to show others kindness.
Into each of us these fruit,
the Holy Spirit instills . . .
unlike the laws of man . . .
there’s no spending pork or frills!

But the fruit of the Spirit is love,
joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance:
against such there is no law.

Be Still My Heart ~
Be still, my soul, be at peace,

Growing In Jesus ~
Grow in grace today,
plant faith in your heart
let it root itself in love . . .
and more grace it’ll start.
Grow in wisdom today,
let it dig its way into you
let it branch out and touch
everything you say and do.
Grow in humility today,
let meekness bud inside
so compassion can begin
to develop and divide.
Grow in charity today,
let is spring up and rise
make a contribution
no matter what the size.
Grow in knowledge today,
harvest from the Word
reap from the truth you find
then share all you’ve heard.

Love Is ~
Love bears all things,
it is not rude
it doesn’t possess
an arrogant mood.
For it is patient,
it is also kind
it does not boast
or have a lofty mind.
Love believes all things,
it seeks the truth
it is not harsh
nor is it uncouth.
For it’s not irritable,
it is instead patient
it holds no bitterness
for it is diligent.
Love endures all things,
it rejoices not in evil
it see right through
the tricks of the devil.
For it understands,
it has wisdom
it will not bow down
to a worldview system.
Love hopes all things,

it knows these times

Build a bridge of truth and hope,
repair the broken span . . .
restore and renew someone’s life
to the Son of Man.

help them to see God’s will
bring back a wandering soul
to the One who longs to heal.

let them see what love is about
show them the way to their Savior
guide them through their doubt.

Fear’s Pitfall ~
When you’re feeling,
anxious and fearful
and your thoughts
turn dreadful.
Remember God’s might,
will give you power
in those frightful
fearful hours.
When you feel,
you’ll lose control
before you leap
into fear’s pitfall.
Remember God’s love,
is your perfect restraint
so over your dread
you may have constraint.
When you feel,
you’re going to lose it
remember to call . . .
upon the Holy Spirit!

A Trembling Mess ~
I use to be,
panic-stricken
I once was
fear driven.
But then Jesus,
said to me
don’t be afraid

a big worry wart

anxiety’s transport.

Fear fighting faith,
wins many a battle
when it’s enacted
anxiety it’ll tackle.
Fear fighting faith,
tells satan to flee
it says greater is He
living inside of me.

before worry
even surfaces.
Fear fighting faith,
claims victory
as soon as it feels
a little jittery.

Lord, in my daily journey,
to get closer to You . . .
I’m happy to see how much
my faith, in You grew.
For, I’ve grown in grace,
mercy and forbearance
as You keep teaching me
all about perseverance.
I’m learning to be content,
no matter what life brings
as You show me how to be
thankful for all things.
You’ve instructed me,
all about fruit bearing
producing in me an attitude
more giving and caring.

Love is patient,

love doesn’t have
a haughty mind,
It will not boast,

Putting on CHRIST ~
I’m putting on Christ,
I’m wearing the robe of love
wrapping it around me
till it fits like a glove.
I’m going to don an attitude,
of humility and meekness
I’m going to bind myself up
with gentleness and kindness.
I’m putting on Christ,
after righteousness I’ll thirst
I’m going to hunger after
putting God in my life first.
I’m going to turn away,
from temptation and sin
I’m calling upon the power
He gives to me within.

wrapping myself in His grace
for it’s the only way I know
to finish the faithful race!

Thanksgiving Dinner ~
Every year at this same time,
we sit at our dining tables . . .
feasting upon what has become
Thanksgiving Day staples.
We gobble down the turkey,
mashed potatoes and candy yams
then we sit back and disclaim . . .
I can’t believe how full I am.
But, this year I am not serving,
the traditional Thanksgiving fare
instead a healthy fruit salad . . .
is all I’m planning to share.
I’m going take some gentleness,
stuff it full of God’s love
along side of it will be the peace
that comes only from above.
I’ll pile high on each plate,
some joy and some goodness
right next to them I will place
some faith and some meekness.
I’ll top it off with patience,
and for the piece of resistance
I’ll pray for those whom I serve. . .
to have a lot of temperance!

This year give a fruit basket,
to everyone you know . . .
fill it with Love and affection
until it begins to overflow.
Pack it with a bunch of Peace,
put into it, some tenderness
don’t forget to stock it with . . .
a whole lot of Gentleness.
Be sure to add your Faith,
calmness and some Patience
when you mix it all together . . .
it’ll release a pleasing fragrance.
Place into it Self-Control.
pile on high, a lot of Meekness
top it off with endless Joy . . .
for a basket full of Goodness.
This year make up a fruit basket,
then pass it all around
tell others of the hope . . .
that in Jesus, you have found!
