When The Day Is Over ~

When the day is over,
and you’re sitting all alone
before your worries start
to get to be full blown.

That when you need to reach,
to a God who always near
and release onto Him . . .
all that you dread and fear.

When the night’s darkness,
creeps into your home
before your deepest doubts
start your thoughts to roam.

That’s when you need to hold,
your Bible in your hand
and read Jesus’ care casting
instructions and command.

When the day is over,
as night begins to descend
know that you are not alone
for Jesus is your eternal friend!

The Voice Of My Shepherd ~

When I need to hear,
the voice of my Shepherd
I go to His Word . . .
where His voice can be heard.

It is easy to recognize,
His voice as I read . . .
for my soul He nourishes
as on His Word I feed.

When I need instructions,
to get me through the day
His voice always leads me . . .
to the Life, Truth and Way.

It is easy to follow,
the direction that He gives
for it guides me to where
the Holy Spirit lives.

When my Shepherd’s voice,
I need to hear and know
I go to my Bible . . .
and follow where He shows!

This Old Bible ~

Each morning as the sun,
rises up to shine
I pick up this old Bible
I faithfully call mine.

It is marked and highlighted,
some pages are a little torn
the cover on the outside
appears too a little worn.

It’s been with me for years,
it has been like a friend
it’s helped through the curves
guided me around each bend.

I have learned a lot from it,
it’s given me needed direction
it had for me all the answers
as I followed it’s instruction.

Each night as the sun,
dips into the night . . .
I pick up this old Bible
to shine on me the Light!

In All Things Be Thankful ~

I love this time of year,
with Thanksgiving just ahead
it reminds me of some facts
in the Bible I have read . . .

In all things be thankful,
let joy and praise flow out of you
for everything be grateful
give God the glory He is due.

Make peacefulness your habitation,
let your gentleness be known
be kind, tender-hearted and forgiving
never be the first to cast a stone.

Extend a hand to the needy,
let charity be your perfect gift
help all those who have not
bring back to God those adrift.

Show others your appreciation,
let them see your gratitude
bless them for their helpfulness
be not selfish in your attitude.

Reach out to the sick and hurting,
let them see Jesus’ true compassion
show all acts of grace and mercy
let not the sun go down on your passion.

Be content with all that you have,
rejoice in whatever is your state
be satisfied with all of the goodness
God places each day on your plate.

In everything be thankful,
let your praise be heard by all

Precise Instructions ~

Whenever I need,
God to inspire . . .
when my Spirit needs
to be lifted higher.

I open up my Bible,
and I begin to read
just why His Word
everyday I need.

Whenever my faith,
needs to be corrected
the Scriptures help me
to get redirected.

For they give to me,
precise instructions
how to overcome
worldly seductions.

Whenever I need,
some good old reproof
God’s Word stops me from
becoming too aloof!

Waiting Till God Answers ~

When not sure of what to do,
and God hasn’t answered you
when you’re feeling down and out
and you’re full of fear and doubt.

That’s the time you need to look,
for His promises in the Good Book
you’ll find the remedy for your needs
when to His Word your spirit heeds.

When you’re troubles take over you,
and worry surrounds all you do
when you’re down and feeling sad
and your anxieties mount and add.

That’s the time you need to pray,
asking the Lord to lead the way
He will show you where to go
and His directions you will know.

When you need answered prayer,
be still as you wait to hear
for God promises with His eye
to make for you the way clear!

Direction’s Needed ~

When you’re not sure,
of the way to go . . .
when you need someone
the correct way to show.

Open up your ears,
to God’s divine direction
and He will lead you
to the path of perfection.

When you’re not convinced,
which way you should turn . . .
when you need to have
the wisdom to discern.

Open up your Bible,
learn to walk in it ways
and God will lead you
for the rest of your days.

When you need directions,
so you can be Spirit led . . .

to that voice in your head!

The Best Place To Go ~

Some people look to family,
for their encouragement
some seek their pastors
for spiritual nourishment.

Some people turn to books,
offering them self-care
some search their computer
for their health and welfare.

But, I have found for me,
the best place I can go
is to my Bible daily
where living waters flow.

For between the pages,
there I find my best friend
for Jesus promised me
He’d be there til the end.

Some people turn to people,
some turn to other things
but, my Bible pages I turn
for the peace I know it brings!

Life Is Full Of Lessons ~

Life is full of lessons,
some are hard, some not
some we understand quickly
others a lifetime are fought.

We need to examine,
what God wants use to learn
for what we take from them
will decide to whom we turn.

Life is full of experiences,
some easy, some difficult
some we undergo in our youth
others when we’re an adult.

We need to analyze,
to study and to explore
so we can formulate
with Him a daily rapport.

Life is full of lessons,
and God wants us to learn . . .
they are for our own good
so the truth we can discern!

Hanging On By A Thread ~

Is your faith hanging,
on by a thin thread . . .
are your thoughts filled
with fear and dread?

Then you need to take,
a hold of your hope

give you the skills to cope.

Is your trust dangling,
right in front of you
are you warn out and down
by all that you do?

Then you need to take,
a hold of the slack
and let the Word of God
give your strength back.

Psalm 31:24

Starting A New Year ~

I’m starting a New Year,
putting the last behind . . .
for, God has a purpose
in this one for me to find.

I don’t know what it’ll be,
not sure where it’ll lead
but, God will guide me
as His word I read.

Not sure what to expect,
don’t yet know the direction
but, God will steer me
if I give Him my attention.

I don’t know what I will do,
so, I’m praying as I go . . .
for, I know God has a plan
and the way He will show.

I’m starting a New Year,
just like the one before . . .
trusting God with the future
whatever may be in store!

Hard To Focus ~

At times it’s hard to focus,
on what God has to say . . .
with all the distractions
disrupting me every day.

I open up my Bible,
but, the pages seem to dull
and though I see the words
they don’t sink into my skull.

At times it’s hard to focus,
on things that really matter
with all the interruptions
my thoughts begin to scatter.

My mind begins to wander,
making it hard to see
the Way, Truth and the Life
that is right in front of me.

At times it’s hard to focus,
so today I will pray . . .
Lord, keep my heart fixed
and my mind on You stayed!

Gems of Truth ~

The Bible is packed,
with truth filled gems
seen through the eyes
of a righteous lens.

For as we look closely,
to the nuggets of grace
the ways of the world
we’ll no longer embrace.

We will live a life,
to God that is pleasing
godly and holy
as grace keeps increasing.

To these gems of truth,
we’ll not wander away
nor follow the path
leading others astray.

The Bible is full,
of hope filled jewels
leading to salvation . . .

Jesus My Teacher ~

I’m studying the Bible,
Jesus will be my teacher
for I know He is . . .
the true Gospel preacher.

I’m learning all about Him,
how His life He lived
He’s showing me how others
I too must forgive.

He’s teaching me why I need,
to die to myself each day
how not to let my pride
or ego to get in His way.

I’m using the directions,
He daily gives to me
so though Him I’ll believe
in what I cannot see.

Heavenly Mandates ~

Heavenly mandates,
we all surely need . . .
tis why God gave to us
His Word to daily read.

For He knew we needed,
His divine instructions
on how to get over
temporal obstructions.

Heavenly policies,
are found in the Good Book
for God left them to us
as salvation’s handbook.

For inside the pages,
is where you will find
inspirations from God
for both heart and mind.

Heavenly directives,
are for our own good
for they tell us how
to live as we should.

They gives us the tools,
we must have to fight
those worldly-minded
opposing His light.

A Buffet of Hope and Trust ~

Every day is a smorgasbord,
a buffet of renewed pardon
a fresh supply of God’s grace
found in His Word garden.

I hunger after what is holy,
to help me through the day
only in the Word can I find
the Light to lead my way.

My appetites are gratified,
from the verses that I read
for they reassure me
Jesus is all I’ll ever need.

I thirst after the Truth,
reading the Word will bring
it satisfied my hunger pangs
it’s like dining with my King.

I need a steady filling,
of God’s mercy and His love
it’s like manna from heaven
coming down from above.

Every day is a smorgasbord,
a buffet of hope and trust  . . .
for the Word is like a banquet
Jesus set up for each of us!

Just Pick Up Your Bible ~

When you’re feeling down,
and you need a lift
just pick up your Bible
and give yourself a gift.

For inside you’ll find,
God’s promises galore
for you to find and claim
when His Word you explore.

When you’re feeling anxious,
remember this one thing
since God is on our side
what good will worry bring.

For He is our God of peace,
who showers us from above
the gentleness of His mercy
in the tenderness of His love.

When you’re feeling discouraged,
and deep waters begin to flow
cast your cares upon Him
then watch His blessings grow.

For He is your Rock and Anchor,
He will never let you down
He will turn those deep rivers
into dry and solid ground.

All the assurance you need,
is written in the Good Book
but you’ll have to pick it up
and take for yourself a look!

Shut The Door On Fear ~

When bad news,
I hear about
I shut the door
on fear and doubt.

Instead I open up,
my trusting heart
so peace into it
God can impart.

things not so great
on my mind
I don’t let them grate.

Instead I open up,

how to trust God
for all that I need.

When bad news,
I get a whiff of
I fix my heart on . . .
God’s trusting love!

A Heart For Jesus ~

A heart for Jesus,
is full of joy and love
its treasure aren’t here
but in heaven above.

Its eyes are open,
to the Life, Truth and Way
it doesn’t care what others
about them might say.

A heart for Jesus,
is one invested wholly

living a life holy.

Its ears are opened,
to both the old and new

When Afraid, Trust ~

I put my trust in God,
whenever I’m afraid
for His Word keeps me
from becoming dismayed.

I’m told in my Bible,
that I daily read . . .
that to fear and dread
I should never heed.

So I call upon my Lord,
for Him to be my shield
so to fearfulness
my heart will not yield.

He gives me the faith,
to rise above my cares
as I release onto Him
my fainthearted prayers.

I put my trust in God,
instead of in my fear
by drawing closer to Him
so to keep Him ever near!

When all around me,

fragile and weak.

A light unto my path,
a brighter day I’ll see
for Jesus is the beam . . .
shining inside of me.

A lamp unto my feet,
His ways for me to see

A candle in my darkness,
a flicker of hope to see

The Light Unto My Way ~

I tuck the Word into my heart,
then I go about my way . . .
knowing I can trust in God
to guide me through my day.

So I rise up before the sun,
to meditate and learn . . .
for, I desire that the Word
be the only lamp I burn.

I get such peace and hope,
as my Bible I read along
with each Scripture I study
I feel myself growing strong.

Before I start out the door,
I pray for God’s guidance
I wait until I can hear Him . . .
breaking through the silence.

Me and My House ~

As for me and my house . . .
I’m asking Jesus to come to live
my heart and my soul to Him
I’m going to open up and give.

But, first I’ll make it ready,
and clean up the dirty mess
I’ll search my heart to see . . .
any hidden sin to confess.

Then I’ll toss out my idols,
keeping me away from Him
the ones new and shiny
all those growing old and dim.

I will toss them all out,
replace them with my Bible
with the books of preachers
whom I know are reliable.

I’m making sure I am ready,
so the Lord I can serve
because me and my house . . .
know it’s what Jesus deserves!
