Jesus, My Calm ~

Lord, thank You for being,
my calm before the storm
for bringing me peace . . .
before it starts to form.

For, I never know,
when one I’ll go through
and when I do . . .
I want it to be with You.

Lord, thank You for going,
into the storm with me
there’s no one else
with whom I’d rather be.

For, only You can still,
my fears that fall and crest
and provide for me
an anchor on which to rest.

Lord, thank You for being,
my calm after the storm
for bringing me back to . . .
a place safe and warm!

Luke 8:24

“And they came to him, and awoke him,
saying, Master, master, we perish.
Then he arose, and rebuked the wind
and the raging of the water:
and they ceased, and there was a calm”

I Rely On My Faith ~

I rely on my faith,
each day to be strong
I trust it even when . . .
things are going wrong.

I depend on prayer,
every day I am alive
for, I know in this world
it’s the only way to survive.

I lean on God’s grace,
each day I need more
for, I know it’s able
to heal and restore.

I draw on God’s Word,
every day I study and read
for, I know I’ll be blessed
when the verses I heed.

I rely on my faith,
prayer and God’s sufficing grace
my hope is found in my Bible
when it’s truth I embrace!

trusteth in the Lord,
and whose hope the Lord is.”

When All Seems Dark ~

I know right now,
all seems so dark . . .
and you’re not sure
just where to start.

The news you got,
wasn’t very good
your mind is stuck
on the if’s and could’s.

But, God’s got this,
He knows what to do
and His wisdom
will surely come to you.

I know right now,
all seem so bleak
answers to questions
are all you seek.

So much uncertainty,
right now to face
too many decision
you need to embrace.

But, Jesus is there,
right now with you
to help and show you
what you need to do.

I know right now,
it seems dark tonight
but, tomorrow you’ll see
things better in His light!

A New Life In Christ ~

I am happy for you,
I am so very excited
now that into your life
Jesus you invited.

I want to help you,
in your faith walk
I’ll be here for you
if you need to talk.

I know it’s not easy,
this  Christian living
so don’t be hard on yourself
but, like Jesus be forgiving.

If you should ever need,
a shoulder on which to cry
mine will be there for you
until all your tears dry.

I am so excited for you,
now that Jesus is your Savior
and I pray each day . . .
He blesses you with His favor!

My Faith Keeps Me Hoping ~

My faith keeps me hoping,
it keeps me alert
so from the narrow way
I will not divert.

For, what I hope for,
isn’t found on this earth
nothing it provides
has everlasting worth.

My faith keeps me hopeful,
it keeps me vigilant
so on the narrow path
I may remain diligent.

For, my hope isn’t in,
the world’s offering
all that it  can render
is eternal suffering.

My faith gives me hope,
in the things I can’t see
my hope is my faith . . .
that Jesus lives in me!

of things hoped for,
the evidence of things
not seen.”

Afternoon Ponderings~03.02.18~

Stop And Pray Each Day ~

Each day we need,
to stop and pray
and listen to . . .
what God has to say.

We need to pray,
for His mercy anew
so temptation
we can subdue.

We need to pray,
for more grace
so the enemy
we can face.

We need to pray,
for His favor
if our faith
should waiver.

We Need to pray,
for His healing balm
to help keeps us
still and calm.

We need to pray,
for His power
so we’ll have victory
no matter the hour.

We need to pray,
for His wisdom
to give to us
a clear vision.

Each day we need,
to continually pray . . .
for we never know
what’ll come our way!

Cling ~

when you’re heart
is broken
when no words
can be spoken.

when you’re downcast
and depressed
when you’re troubled
and harassed.

when you’re stricken
and afflicted
when you’re confused
and conflicted.

when you’re defeated
and overburdened
when you’re weak
and disheartened.

when you’re worried
and tormented
when you’re restless
and discontented.

when you’re feeling
sad and blue
when you don’t know . . .
what else to do!

A Marathon To Run ~

I have entered,
a marathon
and my eyes
are set upon . . .

To run with grace,
and perseverance
to not let sin
be an interference.

To go for the goal,
to push, to strain
so my reward
I’ll be able to gain.

To be faithful,
to the very end
to with this world
not be its friend.

To stay the course,
to claw, to fight
to win the battle
with God’s might.

To be peculiar,
to finish well
lest for eternity
I’ll spend in hell.

 I’ve entered a marathon,
I am racing toward . . .
the day I will meet Jesus
my Savior and Lord!

Hebrews 12:1-2

“Wherefore seeing we
also are compassed about
with so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight,
and the sin which doth
so easily beset us,
and let us run with patience
the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus the author
and finisher of our faith;
who for the joy that was set
before him endured the cross,
despising the shame,
and is set down at the
right hand of the throne of God.

It’s Hard Work ~

Lord, its not easy
following after You
it’s hard work
staying to You true.

It’s not easy,
giving up my pride
it’s hard work
in You to abide.

Lord, it’s not easy,
staying on the narrow way
it’s hard work
bearing my cross everyday.

It’s not easy.
being patient in the race
it’s hard work
relying on Your grace.

Lord, it’s not easy,
staying to You committed
it’s hard work
keeping my life submitted.

But, I know it will be,
all worth it in the end
so from You I’ll not leave
to become the world’s friend!

The Waiting Season ~

When God takes His time,
He always has a just reason
for, a lot of growing is done
while in the waiting season.

For, as we start to anticipate,
the answer to our prayer
God begins to show us
why not all things are fair.

When God takes His time,
at getting back to us
it for us is not the time
to lose our faith and trust.

For, He wants us to believe,
with all our heart and soul
how everything is always
in His infinite control.

When God takes His time,
it’s up to us to keep praying
for good things happen to . . .
those who can bear, the waiting!

When I’m Restless ~

When I am restless,
in need of a break
I go to the only One
who never will forsake.

As I lean into Him,
He rests inside of me
all my anxiousness
on Him, I set free.

He takes my cares,
releases the strain
any worries I have
He begins to drain.

A sense of renewal,
stirs within my soul
over my anxieties
He resumes control.

When I am restless,
to Jesus I will go . . .
for He is the only One
who my breath can slow!

When You’re Down ~

It’s easy to be discouraged,
to be down and out
it’s not hard to wear a frown
or put on a pout.

It’s easy to be disheartened,
to be faint and weary
it’s not hard to cry out
through eyes that are teary.

It’s easy to be overwhelmed,
to be feeling forsaken
it’s not hard to lose focus
when your world is shaken.

It’s easy to be troubled,
to be worried and fearful
it’s not to hard to forget
to be joyous and cheerful.

But, we can find peace,
amidst all of our suffering
when to God we go . . .
for courage and comforting!

mine eye is consumed

Look Up To God ~

Early in the morning,
before your arise . . .
make sure to your worries
you keep God apprised.

Let Him know before,
you get your day started
why it is that you feel
fearful and fainthearted.

Early in the morning,
as the sun comes up
before you pour coffee
into your mug or cup.

Let God know how much,
you need Him to be with you
how impossible it’d be
without Him to make it through.

Early in the morning
before out of bed you climb
look up to God and spend . . .
with Him some quality time!

Psalm 5:3

“My voice shalt thou
hear in the morning,
O Lord; in the morning
will I direct my prayer
unto thee, and will look up.”

Our Bodyguard ~

God is our defender,
our bodyguard
when to His ways
we regard.

God is our anchor,
our safety-net
when in His ways
we are set.

God is our rescuer,
our life-saver
when to His ways
we don’t waiver.

God is our protector,
our safety-shield
when to His ways
we humbly yield.

God is our bunker,
our bodyguard
when after His ways
we follow hard!

the Lord will give grace and glory:
no good thing will he withhold
from them that walk uprightly.”

This is My Savior ~

This is My Savior ~ CHRIStian poetry by deborah ann

This is my Savior,
He can be yours too
if you’d only let Him
work inside of you.

He will instruct you,
show you the way
He will bring light
to your darkest day.

He will make you,
into someone new
your every thought
He will renew.

This is my Savior,
He wants to be yours too
oh, just you watch
the things He can do.

He will bring you joy,
amidst your pain
in Him there’s no loss
only endless gain.

He will be there,
when your all alone
He has ready for you
an eternal home.

He is your strength,
when you’re weak
and His salvation
He wants you to seek.

God is my Savior,
He can be yours too
if you’d just let Jesus
dwell inside of you!

God’s Mercies & Compassions ~

When you feel burdened,
by the worries you carry
and to the future
you are more than wary.

Know this one thing,
to be true . . .
God’s endless mercies
will renew.

When you feel heavy-laden,
by your every care
and the thought of tomorrow
you cannot seem to bear.

Know this one thing,
to be sure . . .
God’s compassions
heal and cure.

When you are over-loaded,
by your fear and doubt
God’s merciful compassion
will fail ~ you not!

Lamentations 3:22-23

“It is of the Lord’s mercies
that we are not consumed,
because his compassions fail not.

They are new every morning:
great is thy faithfulness.”

Feelings Of Dread ~

When in the morning,
you awake . . .
and feelings of dread
you can’t shake.

Before your start,
to get depressed
ask God to help
with your unrest.

When in your mind,
thoughts toss and turn
and your stomach
begins to churn.

Before your cares,
start to overwhelm
remember Jesus
is at the helm.

When at night,
you go to sleep
pray your fears
the Lord to keep!

Psalm 3:5-6

“I laid me down and slept;
I awaked;
for the Lord sustained me.

“I will not be afraid
of ten thousands of people,
that have set themselves
against me round about.”

But, Take Heart ~

Take heart,
faith, do not lose
don’t let the evil-minded
give you the blues.

For, peace can be yours,
if you so elect
when onto Jesus
your eyes you direct.

Take heart,
joy, do not let go of
don’t let the enemy
overpower His love.

For, hope is yours,
in a world bearing none
for over the wicked
Jesus already won.

Take heart,
hold on to your faith and trust
for Jesus overcame . . .
the evilness all around us!

John 16:33

I have said these things to you,
that in me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation.
But take heart;
I have overcome the world.”

Fear’s Pitfall ~

When you’re feeling,
anxious and fearful
and your thoughts
turn dreadful.

Remember God’s might,
will give you power
in those frightful
fearful hours.

When you feel,
you’ll lose control
before you leap
into that pitfall.

Remember God’s love,
is your perfect restraint
so over your fears
you may have constraint.

When you feel,
you’re going to lose it
remember to call . . .
upon the Holy Spirit!

2 Timothy 1:7

For God gave us a spirit not
of fear but of power and love
and self-control.

I Will Overcome ~

I will overcome,
I’ll have victory . . .
I will not be taken in
by satan’s trickery.

To the devil’s traps,
I will not go into
to his every lie
I will not pursue.

To temptation,
I will not fall
to false religion
I’ll not heed its call.

To worldly wealth,
I’ll not concede
to its evil ways
I will not proceed.

To lustful pleasure,
I will not give in
to vain ambition
I’ll not be driven.

To hollow friendships,
I’ll not be charmed
to immoral living
I’ll not be warmed.

I will have victory,
I will overcome . . .
to the world’s darkness
I will not succumb!

1 John 5:4

overcometh the world: and this
is the victory that overcometh
the world, even our faith.”

The Source of My Solace ~

God is the source,
of my solace . . .
for His loving-kindness
is perfect and flawless.

Whenever I need,
mercy anew
for me He always
pulls right through.

He sends me peace,
whenever I’m afflicted
consoles me with
a love unrestricted.

When more grace,
I need to get by
He sends it to me
without questioning why.

God is the source,
of my contentment
for He always brings
my soul refreshment.

And so to all of you,
my solace I pass along
so the God of our comfort
will too, make you strong!

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

” Blessed be God,
even the Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies,
and the God of all comfort;

Who comforteth us
in all our tribulation,
that we may be able to
comfort them which are
in any trouble,
by the comfort wherewith
we ourselves are comforted of God.”

The Well of Life ~

When the well of life,
starts running dry
and you find yourself
wondering why.

For, not long ago,
it seemed to flow
with hope and joy
wherever you’d go.

But, now it trickles,
when at its best
draining from you
your peace and rest.

And now in your soul,
there is a deep thirst
causing your faith
to be at its worst.

That’s when you need,
from Jesus a refill . . .
so the waters of life
He can again instill!

John 4:14

“ But whosoever drinketh of the water
that I shall give him shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him shall
be in him a well of water springing
up into everlasting life.
