The Spirit of Truth ~

the-spirit-of-truth-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

The Spirit of truth,
God gave to you
He is your guide
for all that you do.

He is full of power,
He’s mighty and strong
He’s full of light
He’ll not lead you wrong.

The Spirit of truth,
is all-wise, all-knowing
He’ll intercede for you
with His groaning.

He is everywhere,
ever-present, ever-near
He will give you courage
to face your every fear.

The Spirit of truth,
will keep pursuing you
until you see the light
of all things true!

~~~~~~
John 16:13
“Howbeit when he,
the Spirit of truth,
is come, he will guide you
into all truth: for he
shall not speak of himself;
but whatsoever he shall hear,
that shall he speak:
and he will shew you
things to come.”
The Fear Factor ~
the-fear-factor-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann
Fear plugs the heart,
stops the flow of peace
it clogs up the calm
only God can release.
Fear hijacks the hope,
we need to be still
it robs the soul
of knowing God’s will.
Fear rips the faith,
right out from under us
it cripples the mind
of its eternal sureness.
Fear disables the joy,
of our salvation
it shuts down the bliss
of our future elation.
Fear stifles the peace,
of a mind that’s sound
it zaps the power
that in God we found!
and delivered me
from all my fears.”
The Valley of Hope ~
in-the-valley-of-hope-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann
There is a valley,
I call hope . .
it’s where I gather
strength to cope.
I take my time,
as through it I go
praying all the way
God’s plans I’ll know.
I often rest,
along side a hill
it’s where I learn
how to be still.
I amble slowly,
around each bend
asking God all along
more faith He’ll send.
There is a valley,
hope is its name
where springs of trust
in God’s peace I claim!
“He sendeth the springs
into the valleys, which
run among the hills.”
Lift Me Up Lord ~
lift-me-up-lord-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann
Lift me up Lord,
for I’m feeling down
I need You to turn
my spirits around.
Lift me up Lord,
for I’m feeling blue
I need a pick me up
like only You can do.
Lift me up Lord,
for I’m feeling low
I need You to bring
back salvation’s glow.
Lift me up Lord,
for I’m feeling bleak
I need Your strength
for I am just too weak.
Lift me up Lord,
I humbly ask . . .
for without Your power
I’m not up to the task!
James 4:10
in the sight of the Lord,
and he shall lift you up.”
Bible Crunches ~
bible-crunches-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann
Today I’m exercising,
going to let it rip
going to strengthen
tighten up faith’s grip.
I’ll go all the way
get Scripture sculpted
so my belief in God
can never get corrupted.
I’ll do Bible crunches,
tone up my Gospel flab
so I can be ready
to fight off Satan’s jabs.
I’ll do a full workout,
I’m going to optimize
so my trust in God
can’t be compromised.
Today I’m exercising.
going to spiritually stick it
for, I’ll be working out . . .
with the Holy Spirit!
Mountain Climbing ~
mountain-climbing-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann
We all have mountains,
we need to move or propel
but, our doubt in God
we must first dispel.
Some of them are so tall,
we get dizzy just thinking
how we’re to reach the top
without falling or fainting.
Some of them are so rugged,
moving them seems impossible
that we forget with God
all things are truly possible.
Some of them are so steep,
they seem life threatening
that we can’t get beyond
our fear and trembling.
We all have mountains,
we need to move or get over
but, first our fear and doubt
to God, we must handover!
~~~~~

Mark 11:23

“For verily I say unto you,
That whosoever shall say unto
this mountain, Be thou removed,
and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those
things which he saith shall
come to pass; he shall have
whatsoever he saith.”

Faith Fortified ~

faith-fortified-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

Lord, let me obtain,
faith that is greater
give to me the kind
not able to waiver.

Let it be strong,
mighty and firm
so when it’s tested
I will not squirm.

Lord, let me acquire,
faith, mountain moving
take this mustard seed
and keep it growing.

Let it take root,
deep in my soul
so when it’s tried
I will not fold.

Lord, may my faith,
be in You fortified
so when tested or tried
I’ll not be horrified!

God Is Our Shelter ~

god-shelters-us-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

God is our shelter,
in the storms of stress
He brings comfort
to us in our duress.

God is our shelter,
in the storms of sorrow
He gives us the joy
to face the morrow.

God is our shelter,
in the storms of fear
He brings peace
by drawing to us near.

God is our shelter,
in the storms of grief
He gives us strength
brings our hearts relief.

God is our shelter,
in all the storms of life
He brings the calm
in the midst of our strife!

In My Golden Years ~

in-my-golden-years-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

In my golden years,
my faith is mightier
my hope grows steadier
my trust gets sturdier.

The body gets weaker,
the mind is foggier
the memory grows poorer
the recollection’s fewer.

My beliefs root deeper,
my strength gets stronger
my doubts move further
my fears get lesser.

The eyes get dimmer,
the knees are creakier
the spine gets stiffer
the muscles softer.

God gets bigger,
the world gets smaller
the Lord grows nearer
my worries calmer.

In my golden years,
I am more aware . . .
God’s still concerned
about my welfare!

my strength faileth.”

If You Want To Be Transformed ~

if-you-want-to-be-transformed-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

If  you want to be transformed,
your mind you must renew
worry, disbelief and fear
you’ll need to put behind you.

Thoughts of faith and trust,
must be your way of thinking
putting confidence in God
should be your only reasoning.

Any unbelief or doubt,
you will need to get rid of
instead your mind must dwell
on God’s peace and perfect love.

You’ll need to think obedience,
if you want to know God’s will
your stubbornness and pride
you’ll need to silence and still.

If you want to be transformed,
then you must be teachable
into the depth of your heart
God must be reachable!

~~~~~
Romans 12:2
“And be not conformed
to this world:
but be ye transformed
by the renewing
of your mind,
that ye may prove
what is that good,
and acceptable,
and perfect,
will of God.”
Hope is for today,
it’s for tomorrow too
hope is knowing God
always pulls through.
Hope is eternal,
it is everlasting
hope is the confidence
keeping us believing.
Hope is joyous,
it is happiness
hope fills our hearts
with infinite gladness.
Hope is peaceful,
calming and tranquil
hope is having faith
to trust and be still.
Hope is for today,
it is our future . . .
hope is something
to always nurture!
At Your Feet ~
at-your-feet-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann
Lord, some days I get so tired,
I feel as if I’m beat
and so all my weariness
I place right at Your feet.
As soon as I release,
my troubles into Your care
I no longer feel as if . . .
their mine alone to bear.
When my days are hard,
and my nights are long
its You whom I count on
to help me to be strong.
As soon as I turn over,
all of my worries to You
there is not a single thing
I feel we cannot do.
When I look for comfort,
to ease my weary mind
Lord, I know at Your feet
peace and rest I will find!
Whatever Is Of A Good Report ~
whatever-is-of-a-good-report-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann
Whatever is of a good report,
that which brings God praise
think about such things
and your spirit’s they will raise.
For, that which is mindful,
of God’s mercy and grace
are thoughts that our souls
daily need to embrace.
Whatever is eternal,
our minds should think of
visions of what is everlasting
are full of God’s power and love.
For, that which brings strength,
to our faith and hope
are the things that will help us
in this world to better cope.
Whatever is of a good report,
that which brings us cheer
if we think about such things
God to us, will always be near!
Waiting on God,
is liberating . . .
it is strengthening
and hope generating.
It is freeing,
this God waiting
it is entrusting
and faith activating.
Waiting on God,
is encouraging
it is confidence
and belief stimulating.
It is relieving,
this God waiting
it is anxiety
and fear sparing.
Waiting on God,
is time well spent
for the answers are . . .
always heaven-sent!
The Best Year Yet ~
the-best-year-yet-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann
This year is going to be,
the best one yet . . .
for daily with God
through it, I will get.
Each morning I’ll have,
with Him a heart-to-heart
asking for His help
before my day I start.
On Him I will draw,
my strength each hour
so He can fill me with
the Holy Spirit’s power.
Whether I am awake,
or if I am fast asleep
I’ll find rest in knowing
my times are His to keep.
This is going to be,
the best year ever . . .
for, I’ll be trusting God
in all we endeavor!
My Gift To Jesus ~
my-gift-to-jesus-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann
This Christmas . . .
after all the presents are opened,
I’m going to sneak away and give one more
I’m going to go into my prayer closet
and behind me I’m going to shut the door.
I’m going to pull away all the wrappings,
the frills and the gingerbread I hide behind
I’m going to unwrap my true wretched self
not the one that’s embellished in my mind.
I am going to take off all the ribbons,
rip off the tape and the pretty bows
I’m going to unmask my heart and soul
to a God ~ who already sees and knows.
I’m going to get down on my knees,
give Jesus the gift of my trust
I’m going to bundle myself in His love
and to His will I’m going to adjust.
I’m going to wrap myself up in Jesus,
I’m going to tie myself up with His grace
I’m going to bind myself to His Word
and everyday I’m going to seek His face!
~~~~~~~~~~~

Matthew 2:11

“And when they were come
into the house, they saw
the young child with Mary
his mother, and fell down,
and worshipped him: and
when they had opened
their treasures,
they presented unto him
gifts; gold, and
frankincense and myrrh.”

Tune My Heart Lord ~

tune-my-heart-lord-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

Tune my heart Lord,
adjust the loose strings
tighten them so I can be
thankful for all things.

Tune my heart Lord,
pull up all the slack
till I believe in You
for everything I lack.

Tune my heart Lord,
let the tight strings out
so I can be relieved
of any fear or doubt.

Tune my heart Lord,
tweak as You must
until my faith is strung
with the strings of trust.

Tune my heart Lord,
make me Your instrument
so I can be for You . . .
a singing testament!

If We’re to Be Meek ~

if-were-to-be-meek-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

If we’re to be meek,
but still be strong . . .
then we must believe
God won’t stir us wrong.

If we’re to be humble,
but still be bold . . .
then we must let God
into our heart’s to mold.

If we’re to be poor,
but still be wealthy
then we must remain . . .
to God’s ways healthy.

If we’re to be gentle,
but still be confident . . .
then we must trust God
is always competent.

If were to be meek,
humble, poor and gentle . . .
then we must live a life
of self-denial!

Beyond Thanksgiving Day ~

beyond-thanksgiving-day-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

Thanksgiving is more,
than food and football
it goes way beyond . . .
turkey on the table.

Thanksgiving isn’t about,
just one meal we share
it goes way further . . .
then a dinner prayer.

Thanksgiving is about,
each day of the year
making sure our praise
God is able to hear.

Thanksgiving isn’t about,
a single day with family
it goes way past . . .
our sated apathy.

Thanksgiving is about,
being thankful for all things
no matter what in this life . . .
to your table that it brings!

but in every thing by prayer
and supplication
with thanksgiving

Grace To The Humble ~

grace-for-the-humble-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

When trials blow,
me to the ground
when my cares
take me down.

Before I rise,
back to my feet
I pray to God
my needs to meet.

When storms blow,
through my door
when my worries
take me to the floor.

Before I get,
to my legs back
I pray to God
for the grace I lack.

For, in my life,
to God I’ve found
to humble myself
when I am down!

“But he giveth more grace.
Wherefore he saith,
God resisteth the proud,
but giveth grace
unto the humble.”

Seeking God First ~

seeking-god-first-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

When in the morning,
when God you first seek
ask Him to make you strong
in the places you are weak.

Ask Him to reveal to you,
what is His perfect will
ask Him to give you calm
in the areas you aren’t still.

Ask Him to shine His light,
on the righteous way
ask Him to be your eyes
before you start your day.

Ask Him to fill your heart,
with His mercy and His love
ask Him to be your ears
so to hear His voice above.

When in the evening,
when to God you start to pray
ask Him to remind you . . .
to seek Him first, the next day!

On The Winds of Adversity ~

on-the-winds-of-adversity-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

On the winds of adversity,
God seems to test us
and all we can really do . . .
is to hold on to our trust.

With each passing gale,
that rages through our life
all we can really do . . .
is to give Jesus our strife.

As the gusts keep coming,
and the storms continue on
all we can really do . . .
is to be calm til they’re gone.

With each rushing wind,
that comes about our way
all we can really do . . .
is to turn to God and pray.

For, the storms of this life,
will eventually cease
and one day Jesus will bring . . .
to our souls perfect peace!

O ye of little faith?

and rebuked the winds

a great calm.”
