Through life’s many trials,
there can be no denials
for those who in God trust
well knowing He is just.
Victory we can claim,
when we call upon His name
though tested are we still
we yet seek to know His will.
Through life’s tribulations,
come various temptations
for those with a Savior
redeemed by grace and favor.
Victorious we can be,
for God helps us to see
the evil in the darkness
so to flee its wickedness.
Through life’s many upsets,
there can be no regrets . . .
for those who Jesus believe
satan cannot deceive!
~~~~~~~
But thanks be to God,
which giveth us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ.
If we’re to be,
for Jesus a light
we must be ready
evil to fight.
For the darkness hates,
all that is right
and will stop at nothing
to douse our light.
If we’re to be,
for Jesus the salt
we must be prepared
for the world’s assault.
For the darkness hates,
all that is sound
and will do anything
to hold its ground.
If we’re to be for Jesus,
the salt and the light . . .
then we must be prepared
for a holy fight!
Lord, search my heart,
from the inside out
tell me where You find
places of fear and doubt.
See if You see in me,
any remaining skepticism
put into my heart
by religious dogmatism.
Lord, pull in the reins,
of my heart today
harness them to follow
Your righteous ways.
Yank hard if You must,
so closer to You I’ll turn
jerk ’em if You have to
so in hell I’ll not burn.
Lord, check the fruit,
for You, I am bearing
if any be rotting . . .
be quick with Your paring.
Make sure all my doings,
are being done for You
oh, Lord examine my heart
till for You it proves true!
~~~~~~
I the Lord search the heart,
I try the reins, even to give
every man according to his ways,
and according to the fruit
of his doings.”

Each day is a battle,
we must fight
against the darkness
with God’s light.
Against the forces,
led by the devil
against his armies
saying good is evil.
Our spiritual enemies,
are all around us
to their wicked ways
they want us to adjust.
But, we must stand,
for what we believe
and their evil lies
we must not receive.
Each day it’s a battle,
to shine God’s light . . .
and without His armor
we can’t win the fight!

There’s a lot of temptation,
that we must daily fight
there is a lot of confessing
when you walk in the light.
There’s a lot of acknowledging,
the sinfulness we daily fight
there is a lot of repenting
when you walk in the light.
There’s a lot of recognizing,
the evil we daily fight
there is a lot of conviction
when you walk in the light.
There’s a lot of fessing up.
to the vices we daily fight
there is a lot to let go of
when you walk in the light.
There’s a lot of temptation,
that we must daily fight
there is true repentance
when you walk in the light!
~~~~~~~~
“But if we walk in the light,
as he is in the light, we have
fellowship one with another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ
his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.”
Lord, I’m digging down,
going way deep inside
all my selfish desires
I’m going to put aside.
It’s going to get dirty,
as I clear out the way
but, it must be clean
if I want You to stay.
I’m clearing a path,
by repenting of the sin
and all the wickedness
still hidden deep within.
In my heart of hearts,
way deep in my soul
tis where I want You
to take complete control.
Lord, I’m digging down,
going way down inside
making ready a place
where You can abide!
Keep searching me Lord,
keep probing my heart
take my anxious thoughts
before they even start.
Keep leading me Lord,
whether it be night or day
direct me in Your light
onto the everlasting way.
Keep exploring me Lord,
keep looking deep within
bring me to repentance
over every hidden sin.
Keep guiding me Lord,
keep me on the right path
let me not fall onto the one
that brings eternal wrath.
Keep evaluating me Lord,
keep discovering in me
any pride, greed or lust
in which, You still can see.
Keep searching me Lord,
put me under the spotlight
till all of the wickedness
in me, You highlight!
I make no excuses,
no false pretense
I am just a sinner
I have no defense.
Born of rebellion,
conceived in sin
envy and spite
were my closest kin.
Dead in trespasses,
deceitful to the core
greed and pride oozed
out of every pore.
Disobedient to God,
just like in Eve’s story
wickedness and evil
stole all of His glory.
I make no excuses,
a sinner I am . . .
but, I’ve been saved by
the blood of the Lamb!
Jesus coming unto him,
which taketh
Lord, when I look around,
it’s not hard for me to find
those who reject You
in their hearts and their minds.
They live for the moment,
think nothing of the day
when they’ll stand before You
or what they’ll have to say.
They follow their own desires,
on others they impose
their freedoms and their rights
but don’t want their sin exposed.
There’s so much wickedness,
I am no longer shock to see
the things that I read about
or what I’m shown on my TV.
Lord, help me not to be,
by this world desensitized
so that to Satan’s lies . . .
I’ll still be able to recognize!
Though they may be temporary,
my troubles still do weigh . . .
on my heart, they are heavy
on my soul, they yet prey.
When God needs my attention,
I feel like I’m on fire
but, He is only testing my faith
and the depth of my desire.
So, He puts me in the furnace,
to refine me like gold
He uses the potter’s wheel
so His image He can mold.
He uses His Word as a bridle,
to keep me on the straight path
He prunes and He trims
so I may never know His wrath.
He places me in dark valleys,
to see the world’s wickedness
He puts me in arid places
so I’ll thirst after righteousness.
Though they may be temporary,
my troubles still do weigh . . .
but, I know they will bring me
into a glorious new day!
He sets the captive free,
from the blindness within
releases the binds of guilt
the shamefulness of our sin.
He loosens the chains,
makes love out of hate
unshackles our burdens
eases the heavy weight.
He heals the backslidden,
freedom is now in sight
the yoke of oppression
we no longer have to fight
He scours out the darkness,
in His light, there is power
with grace and mercy
our lives, He empowers.
No longer are we slaves,
to man and his laws
now we come before God
with holy fear and awe.
Oh, what a privilege,
no longer are we bound
free indeed at last . . .
our liberty in Jesus found!
Lord, make me poor in spirit,
let me see my own depravity
show me all my iniquities
my absolute spiritual poverty.
Give me the understanding,
to recognize my sinful condition
let me dwell on my wickedness
till I feel the sting of conviction.
Show me my lustful appetites,
the habits of selfishness
let me look upon my heart
till I see my own helplessness.
Let me see my sinfulness,
what’s not pleasant in Your sight
examine and judge me
for Your laws are always right.
Shut up in me Your loving grace,
lock up in me Your tender mercy
let me exercise my full obedience
till Your love flows out of me.
Lord, make me poor in spirit,
let me be, for You hard pressed
let me see my absolute poverty
so I may be ~ heaven blessed!
Grace saw beyond,
the worthless and unworthy
it looked past the sin
with its unmerited mercy.
Grace saw beyond,
the bondage of the soul
it broke loose the yoke
to heal and make whole.
Grace saw beyond,
the outward behavior
it looked past the wickedness
with its unwarranted favor.
Grace saw beyond,
the look of the proud
it recognized the helpless
standing out in a crowd.
Grace saw beyond,
the stony-human heart
it looked past the coldness
so love it could impart.
Grace saw beyond,
corruption, lust and greed
it came in the name of Jesus
so from works we’d be freed!
