This Old Bible ~

Each morning as the sun,
rises up to shine
I pick up this old Bible
I faithfully call mine.

It is marked and highlighted,
some pages are a little torn
the cover on the outside
appears too a little worn.

It’s been with me for years,
it has been like a friend
it’s helped through the curves
guided me around each bend.

I have learned a lot from it,
it’s given me needed direction
it had for me all the answers
as I followed it’s instruction.

Each night as the sun,
dips into the night . . .
I pick up this old Bible
to shine on me the Light!

A Love Letter From God ~

Today I received,
from God a love letter
I opened up my Bible
here is what I read . . .

I am your Creator,
I formed and molded you
before you were born . . .
I knitted you together too.

I’m the remedy to your needs,
I am your soothing balm
I’m the peace in your storm
I am that voice in the calm.

I’m all the grace you need,
in Me there’s eternal life
I came so that I could bear
the burden of your strife.

I am your staff of comfort,
I will shield and protect you
through life’s complexities
together we’ll get through.

I am the anchor of your soul,
a safe place to run and hide
for I will never forsake you . . .
I’ll always be at your side.

I’m the lamp unto your way,

stirring up deep inside.

Lord, show me Your ways,

lead and guide my steps
to where they should be.

Hard To Focus ~

At times it’s hard to focus,
on what God has to say . . .
with all the distractions
disrupting me every day.

I open up my Bible,
but, the pages seem to dull
and though I see the words
they don’t sink into my skull.

At times it’s hard to focus,
on things that really matter
with all the interruptions
my thoughts begin to scatter.

My mind begins to wander,
making it hard to see
the Way, Truth and the Life
that is right in front of me.

At times it’s hard to focus,
so today I will pray . . .
Lord, keep my heart fixed
and my mind on You stayed!

Just Trust Jesus ~

When we’re in the dark,
Jesus sends us His light
when we’re in a battle
He’s there to help us fight.

When we are weak,
Jesus sends us assurance
when we are faint
He gives us endurance.

When we are alone,
Jesus draws us near
when we are frightened
He takes away our fear.

When we are worried,
Jesus makes us still
when we are unsure
He shows us His will.

When we’re loved as much,
as Jesus loves us . . .
it’s so very easy
in Him to just trust!

~ Shine His Light ~

In a world full of darkness,
shine His light . . .
in these times of uncertainty
be His light.

In the lives of those lost,
radiate the Light . . .
in the souls that are dying
expose the Light.

In the hearts that are hurting,
exude the Light . . .
in the minds that are unraveling
refract the Light.

In those who are unsure,
transmit the Light . . .
in the one who is wandering
broadcast the Light.

In a world that is perverse,
shine His light . . .
in an earth that is corrupt
be His light!

What More Do I Need ~

The Lord is my Shepherd,
what more do I need . . .
whenever I am hungry
on His Word I feed.

He renews my spirit,
my soul He repairs
sends me into the world
knowing I’ll be prepared.

I trust Him to guide . . .
and give me the strength
to keep up with His stride.

God Guides My Feet ~

God guides my feet,
over mountain tops
onto high ground . . .
in faith, they do hop.

He leads my steps,
through jagged spaces
to prove to me . . .
significant is His grace.

He shines His light,
ahead of my steps
my soles He secures . . .
His love they project.

He takes me to places,
never before explored
to show me why it is . . .
I call Him my Lord.

He sets me up high,
gives me a glorious view
so His mercy my soul . . .
He can restore and renew!

Faith Like Jesus ~

A Broken Spirit ~

A Look Into the Manger ~

Some people look,
but they don’t see
the gift God sent
to set them free.

They see a manger,
not the Savior
they see a Baby
not God’s favor.

They see a Boy,
not the King of Kings
they see a Child
not the hope He brings.

They see the Magi,
not the Deliverer
they see the Shepherds
not the lifesaver.

Some people look,
into the manger
but they only see . . .
Jesus as a stranger!

God’s Saving Light ~

If I could gather,
all the rays of God’s light
every blinded eyes . . .
would be given a new sight.

For within each beam,
the blinded eye would see
how the grace of Jesus
came to set them free.

If I could reap,
every ounce of God’s light
everyone would be full
of the power of His might.

For within each burst,
His love would crystallize

What is Hope ~

Hope is for today,
it’s for tomorrow too
hope is knowing God
always pulls through.

Hope is eternal,
it is everlasting
hope is the confidence
keeping us believing.

with infinite gladness.

Hope is peaceful,
calming and tranquil
hope is having faith

Let’s Make Room For Jesus ~

Every year for Christmas,
we prepare for our guests
making sure they only see
our homes at their best.

We scrub and we scour,
room by room we go
making sure every space
has a sparkling glow.

We remove the clutter,
tidy up all of the mess
we dust everything in hopes
to pass the white glove test.

But, what about our hearts,
for Jesus, are they prepared
or in the holiday madness
have they become ensnared?

So, this year let’s first check,
to see if we have room
in our hearts for Jesus
and if not, let’s take a broom.

Let’s sweep away the junk,
clear out a perfect space
so Jesus can fill it up
with His love and grace.

Then let’s open up our homes,
and invite our guests in . . .
and maybe what they see in us
they too, will want within!
