I am An Apprentice ~

I am but an apprentice,
with many things to learn
I study to prove myself . . .
so God’s will I may discern.

With fear and trembling,
my Bible I explore and read
each day I am learning how . . .
to let the Holy Spirit lead.

I reap from the Lord,
in His parables how to act
and find when I follow them
there’s nothing that I lack.

I listen to what God says,
and wait for Him to show
the way and the direction
He would have me to go.

I am but an apprentice,
the truth I want to decipher
so I use the Word of God . . .
as my spiritual advisor!

Into The Light Of Day ~

When all around me,
is cold and bleak . . .
when I’m feeling frail
fragile and weak.

I pick up my Bible,
to warm up my soul
knowing it’s Words
my heart will console.

When all around me,
is dark and dim . . .
when I’m feeling faint
helpless and grim.

I read the Scriptures,
to Lighten my spirits
knowing they’ll give me
hope without limits.

When all around me,
is cold, dark and gray . . .
God’s Word turns the night
into the Light of day!

The Light Unto My Way ~

I tuck the Word into my heart,
then I go about my way . . .
knowing I can trust in God
to guide me through my day.

So I rise up before the sun,
to meditate and learn . . .
for, I desire that the Word
be the only lamp I burn.

I get such peace and hope,
as my Bible I read along
with each Scripture I study
I feel myself growing strong.

Before I start out the door,
I pray for God’s guidance
I wait until I can hear Him . . .
breaking through the silence.

it goes with me wherever I go . . .
for it is the light unto my way!

How Would I’ve Known ~

Lord, I know You’re in control,
over all that I do
but, how would I know this . . .
if I didn’t first seek You?

I know I can trust You,
for my every need
but, how would I know this
if Your Word I didn’t read?

I believe You always will,
lead and guide my way
but, how would I know this
if I didn’t stop and pray?

I know for my faith,
with the devil I will fight
but, how would I know this
if I didn’t recognize Your light?

Lord, I know You’re in control,

but, how would I know this . . .
if I never heard about You!

Life-Mending

Life-mending,
behavior altering
the Word of God
is soul shattering.

The truth it reveals,
the light it shines
transforming both
hearts and minds.

Conflict ending,
peace conquering
the Word of God
is spirit-stirring.

The way it shows,
the path it leads
where faith and trust
meets our daily needs.

Life-mending,
pain healing
the World of God
is soul revealing!

God’s Will ~

Some people struggle,
with knowing God’s will
some people think
they just have to be still.

Some people toil,
laboring night and day
some people say “works”
are the only way.

Some people resist,
they just can’t conceive
some people just plainly
do not believe.

Some people are busy,
doing other things
some people can’t see
what good it will bring.

Some people understand,
if God’s will they’re to know
then into their Bible . . .
they will have to go!

How Would I Know ~

Lord, I know You’re in control,
over everything that I do . . .
but, how would I know this

I am A Student ~

I am just a student,
I study to become wise
I look for the truth
with wonder in my eyes.

I pray every morning,
for the Holy Spirit’s leading
so He’ll open up my mind
to everything I’ll be reading.

I consider and I examine,
every Word and every line
I look for God’s promises
and claim them all as mine.

As I look up the meaning,
to the Words I highlight
I see my own darkness
while blessed in His light.

There’s something to be said,
when you study on your own
and one day to all my questions
I know God, will make known.

But for now, I am His student,
I read my Bible every day
the Holy Spirit is my teacher
who guides me along the way!

I Didn’t Know!

I didn’t know back then,
God had a plan for me
I didn’t know the designs
He had in store for me.

I wasn’t lead to the Word,
to see it with my own eyes
I didn’t know I had a future
to this ~ I wasn’t made wise.

I didn’t know to pray,
to ask Him for direction
I didn’t know my ignorance
would cause our separation.

I didn’t know I was to study,
the Bible or to read the Word
and when I went to church
these needs I never heard.

I wasn’t aware He declared,
the path He wanted me on
I wasn’t aware I was lost
til many years were gone.

I wish when I were young,
someone would have told me
there was a path God designed
and a purpose He had for me!

If We’re To Be Like Jesus ~

To be more like Jesus,
we must walk with Him each day
we must take up our own cross
and follow Him on the narrow way.

It’s an individual thing to decide,
no one can tell you what to do
after the Sunday service is over
it will be only Jesus and you.

We will need to have faith,
the measure of it only we know
but if we’re willing to study His word
in our hearts it’s sure to grow.

There is no assurance,
from His light we will not stray
but if you trust in the Holy Spirit
He’ll keep you from falling away.

 He will give us divine wisdom,
He’ll lead and guide our way
till He takes us to His Kingdom
where we’ll walk with Him each day!

The Apprentice

I am but an apprentice,
with many things to learn
I study to prove myself
so His will I may discern.

With fear and trembling,
my Bible I explore and read
to stay on salvation’s road
I must let His Spirit lead.

I am my brother’s helper,
assisting him in his need
helping him to plant another
trusting faithful seed.

I reap from the Lord,
in His parables how to act
and find when I follow them
there’s nothing that I lack.

I am the aide to my sister,
offering to her a helping hand
I pick her up when she falls
in faith I help her to stand.

I listen to what God says,
and wait for Him to show
the way and the direction
He would have me to go.

I am but an apprentice,
I am learning as I go
knowing that my Master
helps me everyday to grow.

Right now I am His follower,
helping those who are in need
but one day the Lord will have
a whole flock for me to lead!

The Light Unto My Path ~

I know having the truth in me
will take me through my day.

I get such joy and pleasure,
in every delightful saying
I can hear the Word’s of God
whenever I am praying.

I long to have study time,
to meditate and learn
for I desire that the Word
be the only lamp I burn.

Upon my lips I do savor,
every morsel that I’ve heard
to me there is not anything
more satisfying than the Word.
