When someone you know dies suddenly,
it leaves a hole in your heart
when a love one is taken quickly
it tears and rips . . . your gut apart.
Sleepless nights, nightmarish days,
you do your absolute best to get by
keeping strong for everyone
but when left alone . . . all you do is cry.
You go through all the motions,
as you make the funeral plans
yet deep inside you don’t believe
this task is now . . . in your hands.
Your mind can’t really wrap around,
the shock, the horror, of it all
“It’s not true, this didn’t happen”
as you relive . . . that awful call.
On the day of the memorial,
you put on your bravest smile
walking the aisle to your seat
feels like it’s . . a million miles.
Oh, the grief, the heartbreak and the pain,
how it’s just too unbearable . . .
but, if on Jesus you cast your sorrow
He will make it ~ more than bearable!
