When Death Comes Suddenly ~

cast-all-your-burdens-to-the-lord CHRISTian poetry by deborah belka

When someone you know dies suddenly,
it leaves a hole in your heart
when a love one is taken quickly
it tears and rips . . . your gut apart.

Sleepless nights, nightmarish days,
you do your absolute best to get by
keeping strong for everyone
but when left alone . . . all you do is cry.

You go through all the motions,
as you make the funeral plans
yet deep inside you don’t believe
this task is now . . . in your hands.

Your mind can’t really wrap around,
the shock, the horror, of it all
“It’s not true, this didn’t happen”
as you relive . . . that awful call.

On the day of the memorial,
you put on your bravest smile
walking the aisle to your seat
feels like it’s . . a million miles.

Oh, the grief, the heartbreak and the pain,
how it’s just too unbearable . . .
but, if on Jesus you cast your sorrow
He will make it ~ more than bearable!

1 Peter 5:7

 for he careth for you.”

Kobe Bryant left us suddenly today, no warning just gone. I’m reliving three other tragic suddenlies in my family’s personal lives: 1976, 21 year old cousin, 2001, 20 year old son, and 2017, 29 year old friend…gone too soon. DeborahAnn’s poem speaks to the real truth of the pain and shock of sudden death. May God grant strength and peace.

I too have been face with many sudden deaths in my family . . . most recently my 39 year old son. If not for my faith in God and the hope I have in Jesus I would have been down for the count. But praise be to God the peace that only He can give continues to guard my heart and mind thanks be to Jesus!

Deborah, this is exactly how I felt when my dad died suddenly over 15 years ago. Nicely written.

You are often in my thoughts and prayers Deborah, I can’t fully grasp what you are going through, yes I have known grief but I didn’t know your son or Love him as you do and always will, yes he will always live on as long as he is in your heart but I can understand how much you long to see him and tell him how much you Love him… God will tell him for you, your son is in His heart too, no one knows what happens at the point of death but God does and those who He reveals it to, He answers our prayers.

Every word so true, only those who have walked in your shoes, they know the anguish of it all. Grief is a process and there is no time limit on it, we are all so individual,,and circumstances vary some, but bottom line, I found it is a process we will come through. As Jesus said to Paul, My grace is sufficient for you…….I believe God pours out more grace for every difficult season we go through as we need it. It would be wonderful if The Lord would just wash it away all quickly, but for reasons we do not always know, there are those things we will walk through, with Jesus by our side. I said and thought, I am not sure how many times, “I feel like my heart is broken in a million pieces” after my daughter committed suicide. Those words were the best way I could describe the sorrow, and it was really worse than that. Just sharing, also praying for quick comfort and peace to come.

“I feel like my heart is broken in a million pieces” couldn’t have said it any plainer or better then this.

Thank you for your prayer of peace and comfort, God has been so good to deliver both to me!

      ~ Blessings ~

As we put our trust the best way we can in Jesus through all life’s circumstances. He is Good, He is God through it all. He alone can heal the heart and soul. Though wounded beyond belief, He is still MASTER of the wounds. All my love to Jesus who has brought me through some fierce and fiery trials, these are meant to destroy us, but GOD makes our enemies to bow and makes us even more alive– thru it all.

Deborah Ann, if this is personal, I pray all comfort for you and your loved ones through these ‘dark’ days of grief and loss.

Thank you for your prayers . . . God is good and gracious to deliver His mercy and grace to me on a daily basis! ~ Blessings ~
