I have me a life verse,
I use it everyday
for I know it will lead me
along the righteous way.
It’s the one I prefer,
when I need direction
for it makes me look
at my own reflection.
It’s my go-to verse,
it’s tucked into my heart
I say it out loud
when my day I start.
It’s the one I cling to,
whenever I need to recall
why into the world’s ways
I can’t let myself fall.
I have me a life verse,
my mind it keeps renewing
for, God’s perfect will for me
is worth my daily pursuing!
~~~~~~~~
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that ye may prove what
is that good, and acceptable,
and perfect, will of God.
Jesus didn’t say to go out in fear,
or to fret throughout the day
He didn’t say to sit and worry
or to follow the anxious way.
He didn’t say to lay our treasures,
in what this world has to offer
He didn’t say to hide our riches
or save them in a hidden coffer.
He didn’t say He wouldn’t be there,
or that we would be all alone
He didn’t say He didn’t care
or that we’d be left on our own.
He didn’t say to be lustful,
or to be like those greedy
He didn’t say we would not be
at times poor and needy.
But, Satan loves to twist and turn,
Jesus’ words all around . . .
and so onto the Gospel truth
we must always hold our ground!
What will you gain,
if your soul you should lose
what will you attain
for believing satan’s ruse?
For satan doesn’t care,
about your salvation
nor does he want you to
resist any temptation.
What will you profit,
for following the world’s ways
what will you garner
for the rest of your days?
For the world will perish,
expire and be no more
and it will be too late for you
to open to Jesus the door.
What will you gain,
if you should choose
satan over Jesus . . .
your soul you will lose!
Father I thank You,
today for Your grace
and the wisdom I need
to wisely run the race.
For, I know of the evil,
I will witness today
and to walk cautiously
must be my mainstay.
Father I thank you,
today for Your direction
for the wisdom to have
in the world no connection.
For, though times are dark,
You make it clear to me
how living like a fool
I do not want to be.
Father I thank you,
for helping me to walk wise
so that I can be mindful
of satan’s traps and lies!
Now that I am alive,
I no longer conform . . .
to the ways of the world
nor to it’s social norms.
For with Christ living in me,
I now have a new life
releasing me from the issues
once causing me strife.
Now that I am dead,
to sin and transgressing
I can see how eternal hope
was once absent and missing.
For now that I am awake,
sober, alert and aware
with the world and its ideals
I’ve no longer a love affair.
Now that I am alive,
with the world behind me
I long for the day . . .
when with Jesus I’ll be!
Ephesians 2:3-5
Among whom also we all had
our conversation in times past
in the lusts of our flesh,
fulfilling the desires of the flesh
and of the mind; and were by
nature the children of wrath,
even as others.
But God, who is rich in mercy,
for his great love wherewith
he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins,
hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;)
Child of the day,
children of the Light
put our trust in God
with all of our might.
Warriors on this earth,
fighting off evilness
pledge never to return
to our former wretchedness
Holy and righteous are we,
holding on to the Life
even though it causes us
worldly grief and strife.
Awake, sober and alert,
to the powers of darkness
son’s and daughter’s of God
full of awe and awareness.
Child of the Light,
children of the day
put all of our faith in . . .
the Truth, Life and Way!
Thessalonians 5:4-5
But ye, brethren, are not
in darkness, that that day
should overtake you as a thief.
Ye are all the children of light,
nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep,
as do others; but let us
watch and be sober.
Oh, to know the fear,
of God that is awesome
is to learn how to live
in this world with caution.
For, His Word warns us,
to be not the world’s friend
or with it godless ways
to mix in or to blend.
Oh, to know the wisdom,
of Godly instruction
is to know being of the world
leads to death and destruction.
For, His Word cautions all,
to be alert and sober
for the time Jesus returns
is always getting closer.
Oh, to know the fear,
that makes one respectful
is to honor God . . .
by living a life not regretful!
Offend me Lord,
with Your Word
let me be convicted
by the truth heard.
Insult me Lord,
with Your commands
so with false teachers
I’ll not shake hands.
Offend me Lord,
let me feel the sting
that Your reproof
in my life will bring.
Shock me Lord,
let my ears hear
no sinner in heaven
will You let near.
Outrage me Lord,
go ahead and offend
so with the world . . .
I’ll not be a friend!
Lord, let me not honor You,
with my lips only
but with a heart that is . . .
devoted to You solely.
Let me not profess,
my undying love to You
only to go into the world
and follow what others do.
Let me not disobey,
the commands You taught
by living a life of hypocrisy
and doing whatever I want.
Let me not think,
it’s all about heaven getting
but, about right here and now
and any sin that is besetting.
Lord, let me not fool myself,
thinking hidden sin You can’t see
lest I hear You say one day . . .
you never really knew Me!
Many will say to me in that day,
Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied
in thy name? and in thy name have
cast out devils? and in thy name
done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you: depart from me,
ye that work iniquity.”
The world is a wilderness,
with strange and eerie places
and I could not travel in it . . .
without Jesus and His graces.
I know I would get lost,
in the darkness in front of me
for, without His saving light
the wickedness I’d not see.
The world is a wilderness,
with dark and scary pathways
and I would stumble on them
if Jesus wasn’t with me always.
For, I would not be able to see,
the clear and present danger
of following after those . . .
who were to Him a stranger.
The world is a wilderness,
I need to navigate through
tis why I keep my Shepherd
and His flock in my view!
Do not love the world,
nor the things in or of it
for, to your soul . . .
there’s no lasting benefit.
For, the world’s full of pride,
promoting fleshly lust
to its godless customs
you mustn’t ever adjust.
Do not become a part,
of the world’s ways
do not on its sinful desires
let your heart set its gaze.
For, if you do you’ll find,
it’s so easy to conform
as the world’s proven to be
satan’s earthly platform.
Do not love the world,
for it is perishing . . .
there is nothing in it
worth you cherishing!
neither the things
If any man love the world,
the love of the Father
is not in him.
For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh,
and the pride of life,
is not of the Father,
of God abideth for ever.”
Did you hear the news,
I am statistically horrible . . .
in Clinton’s own words
I am grossly deplorable.
I am a phobic,
Islalmo, xeno and homo
in other words she thinks
I am an intolerable dodo.
I am a hateful bigot,
a sexist and a racist
I’m one of the unfortunate
not supporting her bases.
According to Mrs. Clinton,
I’m a disgusting basket case
oh, Father I will pray . . .
she’ll lose the upcoming race.
Did you hear the news,
Hilary thinks I’m horrible
but, I think its her moral’s
that are shamefully deplorable!
For men shall be lovers
disobedient to parents,
unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection,
trucebreakers, false accusers,
despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded,
lovers of pleasures more
than lovers of God;”
Lord, humbly I come,
I want a place to learn
so much has changed . . .
it seems as if to this world
I have become estranged.
What it thinks is amusing,
entertaining and fun . . .
everyday I must shun.
Its thoughts and views,
but, I don’t let in my mind
What to others is appealing,
enjoyable and pleasing
only leaves my soul . . .
mourning and grieving.
