A humble heart,
a meek attitude
is something
we need to exude.
Pleasant and nice,
gentle and mild
are the attributes
of being God’s child.
A quiet spirit,
a composed mood
one that is polite
and never rude.
Decent and modest,
tactful and discreet
willing to let their ego
take the backseat.
A humble heart,
a soul quiet . . .
are the fruits of
the Holy Spirit!
~~~~~~~~
1 Peter 3:4
But let it be the hidden
man of the heart, in that
which is not corruptible,
even the ornament of a
meek and quiet spirit,
which is in the sight of God
of great price.
Galatians 5.22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit
is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance:
against such there is no law.
Grow in grace today,
plant faith in your heart
let it root itself in love . . .
and more grace it’ll start.
Grow in wisdom today,
let it dig its way into you
let it branch out and touch
everything you say and do.
Grow in humility today,
let meekness bud inside
so compassion can begin
to develop and divide.
Grow in charity today,
let is spring up and rise
make a contribution
no matter what the size.
Grow in knowledge today,
harvest from the Word
reap from the truth you find
then share all you’ve heard.
Grow in grace today,
grow in knowledge too
grow so others will see . . .
Jesus growing in you!
2 Peter 3:18
“Grow in grace, and in
the knowledge of our
Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ.”
To him be glory both
now and for ever. Amen.
may grow up into him in all things,
It’s a long road,
this one of humility
it takes quite a time . . .
to see it visually.
It’s an uphill climb,
getting rid of pride
it takes quite awhile . . .
to train a meek stride
It’s a long pathway,
to take on your ego
it takes quite a fight . . .
to finally let it go.
It’s a slippery slope,
on the way to meekness
it takes quite a spell . . .
to admit your weakness.
On the road to meekness,
on our pride we’ll stumble
but God will give to us . . .
the grace to be humble!
~~~~~~~~
1 Peter 5:5
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves
unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject
one to another, and be clothed with humility:
for God resisteth the proud,
and giveth grace to the humble.

If I were more like my Master . . .
I’d walk miles in the sand
just to lend someone
a helping, loving hand.
I’d be compassionate and kind,
gracious and merciful too
I’d give godly instructions
and show them what to do.
I’d calm down the waves,
walk on the turbulent sea
I’d encourage others to have
the faith to follow after me.
I’d see the lost and unsaved,
all the hungry people to feed
I would let them all know . . .
salvation was what they need.
I’d travel to every city,
spread the Good News around
I’d speak of Jesus’ forgiveness
how new life can be found.
If I were more like my Master . . .
I’d have a spirit of servitude
humility and meekness
would be my constant attitude!

The thread of humility
today is running thin . . .
for so many are caught
in the pride of their sin.
Their hearts are hardened,
there is no gentility
instead there is only
the backlash of hostility.
The thread of humility,
today is running bare . . . .
for so many think God
is no longer out there.
Instead they belittle,
those who remain meek
because His righteousness
they still willingly seek.
The thread of humility,
only God can repair . . .
for a heart that is humble
will never fall in despair!

Complete surrender,
not my strength, but His
yielded absolutely
not my will, but His.
Humble obedience,
not my flesh, but His
perfect compliance
not my spirit, but His.
Fully submitted,
not my control, but His
resigned utterly
not my desires, but His.
Completely yielding,
not my wants, but His
entirely devoted
not my pleasures, but His.
Complete surrender,
not my life, but His
thoroughly in love . . .
now that my heart is His!

Clothed in humility,
the garment of grace
are the hearts . . .
dressed for the race.
Gone is the pride,
and the self-interest
now that in Jesus
they are invested.
Clothed in humility,
cloaked in modesty
are the hearts . . .
who deal honestly.
Gone is the arrogance,
the nerve and conceit
now that in Jesus
they are made complete.
Clothed in humility,
are the hearts void of
selfish needs and desires
for with God they’re in love!

Humble me Lord,
into submission
help me to make
a heartfelt transition.
Teach me all about,
true obedience
so I may give to You
my full allegiance.
Humble me Lord,
no matter the pain
break me free from
sin’s cursing chain.
Show me how to live,
a life lowly and meek
give me the strength
to turn the other cheek.
Humble me Lord,
until I’m fully submitted
so I may tender to You . . .
a heart that is committed!

You don’t need the masses,
for a revival to erupt . . .
you don’t need a large crowd
just one soul that’s not corrupt.
You don’t need a building,
for a revival to begin . . .
you don’t need a church pew
to light a fire burning within.
You don’t need a mega church,
for a revival to get lit . . .
you don’t need loud music
just you and the Holy Spirit.
You don’t need a Sunday service,
for a revival to ignite . . .
you don’t need an assembly
for a soul to flame and incite.
You don’t need the masses,
for a revival to start
all you need is just one . . .
lowly and contrite heart!

to revive the spirit of the humble,
and to revive the heart
of the contrite ones.”

Humble me Lord,
show me my pride
for I know it from You
I can’t disguise or hide.
Let me see where,
my ego’s overblown
so from its pedestal
it can be dethroned.
Humble me Lord,
take me to my knees
so that all the glory
I can give to Thee.
Let my eyes be opened,
to my narcissist ways
for You are the only One
worthy of my praise.
for all of my praise . . .

First thing in the morning,
before I get out of bed
I take up my cross . . .
so by Jesus I can be lead.
For, when I pick it up,
it gives me the grace
to keep my arrogance
in its rightful place.
First thing in the morning,
I disrobe myself of pride
I lift up my cross
and let it be my guide.
For when I pick it up,
it gives me liberty
from vanity holding me
in conceit’s captivity.
First thing in the morning,
before I get up and get dressed
I take up my cross . . .
so with humility I’ll be blessed!

If you want humility,
you will need to find
a way to unveil haughtiness
in your heart and mind.
For, when you reveal,
the smugness deep within
humility will start . . .
to trickle right on in.
If you want humility,
you will need to see
just how self-absorbed
you can truly be.
For, when you uncover,
your self-righteousness
humility with expose . . .
God’s righteousness.
If you want humility,
you’ll need to discover
just how arrogant
you can be to others.
For, when you explore,
your self-obsessed feelings
humility will have you . . .
before God kneeling!

We don’t need a special day,
to show we are thankful
for every day to God . . .
we need to be grateful.
We can come together,
any day of the year
and share the cause behind
our joy and good cheer.
We can give our thanks,
no matter the season
a special holiday
needn’t be our only reason.
We can enter into,
the gates of thanksgiving
anytime, anywhere
without a single misgiving.
For, God doesn’t care,
when or how we show
our thankfulness to Him
He just wants to know!

When trials blow,
me to the ground
when my cares
take me down.
Before I rise,
back to my feet
I pray to God
my needs to meet.
When storms blow,
through my door
when my worries
take me to the floor.
Before I get,
my legs back
I pray to God
for the grace I lack.
For, in my life,
to God I’ve found
to humble myself
when I am down!
