Give me faith like a child,
without fear and doubt
where the Word of God
can root, grow and sprout.
Give me an attitude,
that believes readily
where happiness and joy
overflows steadily.
Give me childlike faith,
pure and simple . . .
one that is steadfast
not unsure or fickle.
Give me a mindset,
that to God is reachable
a mind that is open
hungry and teachable.
Give me a heart,
that is willing to obey
that humbly follows
without going astray.
Give me a soul,
that is calm and quiet
one that on God
is always reliant.
Give me faith like a child,
innocent and sweet
eagerly anticipating the day
when Jesus and I will meet!
~~~~~~~~~~
“At that time Jesus
answered and said,
I thank thee, O Father,
Lord of heaven and earth,
because thou hast hid these
things from the wise
and prudent,
and hast revealed
them unto babes.”
Hi Deborah Ann. I am speaking at a family church service soon about maturing into childlikeness. I found your poem about childlike faith and love it. I was wondering if I could have your permission to print it out to give to the congregation? I would make sure your name was on it too.
Denine, I found for me it’s just a whole lot easier to trust Him like a child would. ~ Blessings ~
Amen Deb. This is my heart’s cry as well…
Really enjoyed this post. Well written. I went through a stage in early, early, early sobriety (I figure 14 months clean/sober is still early) where I prayed this same prayer. I had tons of belief, since I was young, but no faith or trust, at least very limited. He answered that prayer by helping me slowly, and still continuously gain faith in His goodness,mercy, and power… Came much from studying His word. Great post.
God can, will and is doing the impossible in all of us. It is an ongoing learning, growing and reaping time in our lives. His fruit multiplies in us more and more as we read and study His Word. Keep up the good work He is doing in your life! ~ Blessings ~
