Sticks and Stones ~

Tongues of Fire by Johannes Stafuffer free photo #5906

Sticks and stones,
indeed break bones
but, names still hurt
when they are thrown.

Hot, fiery words,
meant to cause pain
for years and years
the flames remain.

Bones they mend,
bones they heal
but, names poison
the way we feel.

They penetrate,
deep, so deep
wounded souls
weep and weep.

Before you cast,
an angry word
think of the ones
you too have heard.

For sticks might break,
stones can miss their mark
but names, oh names . . .
always hits ~ the heart!

~~~~~~~~~~~~
James 3:6
King James Version
“And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity:
so is the tongue among our members,
that it defileth the whole body,
and setteth on fire the course of nature;
and it is set on fire of hell.”
The Battle with ALS is Over
To those who were fortunate to know Greg some sad . . . but happy news ~
Greg, please keep your eyes open for me when I get to heaven. I want to give you a real-time “heavenly hug.” I am sadden that your time here is over but rejoicing with the heavenly hosts at your arrival into God’s Kingdom.
Knowing you are with Jesus right now brings me happiness but I am so sad at the same time.
My prayer will be with Nita and the rest of your family as they learn how to live here on earth without you. May our Lord bring you peace and comfort.
Thank you for being a part of my “blogging life’ and for teaching me so much about God’s amazing grace.
I love you and will miss you.
Your blogging bud, pal and friend in Jesus ~
You Can Climb Your Mountain ~
Mountain BanffRon by Ron Manke free photo #5744
I’ve climbed that mountain,
I’ve been to the top
I saw the valley below
I saw how far the drop.
I made it anyway,
I was able to overcome
all the obstacles before me
I was able to overrun.
I didn’t do it alone,
God was with me all the way
He gave me  the power
for which I praise Him today.
You can climb your mountain,
you too can reach the peak
just take Jesus with you
so to be strong and not weak!
2 Corinthians 12:10
King James Version
“Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities,
in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions,
in distresses for Christ’s sake:
for when I am weak, then am I strong.”
A Heart Full of Grace ~
Grace by Nathan Furr free photo #12440
When a heart is full of grace,
it is a heart that is kind
compassion for others
it always tries to find.
It puts on humility,
wears the cloak of patience
it dresses itself with modesty
wears the robe of justice.
It is wrapped in peace,
It’s covered in forgiveness
drapes itself with love
it’s swathed in gentleness.
When a heart is full of grace,
gratitude is its garment
the Word of God . . .
is its wardrobe requirement!
Colossians 3:12
King James Version
Put on therefore, as the elect of God,
holy and beloved, bowels of mercies,
kindness, humbleness of mind,
meekness, longsuffering;”
Our Burden Bearer ~
cast-all-your-burdens-to-the-lord CHRISTian poetry by deborah belka
Lord, our burden bearer,
take from us our care
take away the heaviness
our tired hearts wear.
Take from us our weariness,
take from us our trouble
take away the listlessness
our tired souls battle.
Take from us our load,
take from us the heavy weight
take away the problems
on our tired minds that grate.
Take from us our pain,
take from us the deep ache
take away all the sorrow
and heal our heartbreak!
and he shall sustain thee:
he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”
Trust Fund ~
trustlord-CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann
Got me a trust fund,
use it every day
I can always count on it
especially when I pray.
God is the grantor,
His assets are all mine
it’s just like having
an eternal credit line.
I withdraw from it often,
but I never take a loss
for the rates are based on
the finished work of the cross.
Jesus is my inheritance,
I trust Him with all my heart
for I am the beneficiary
of the grace that He imparts.
My trust fund is secure,
the dividends keep growing
I am very confident  . . .
to heaven ~ I’ll be going!
My King is Coming ~
the-joy-of-seeing-jesus CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann
My King is coming,
He will soon be here
I cannot wait
for Him to near.
He will reign,
upon His throne
the world’s sins
He’ll not condone.
He will take over,
be in complete control
the universe is His
as well as every soul.
There will be peace,
the drying of tears
no longer Satan
will we have to fear.
The father of lies,
will be cast into hell
and his followers
with him will dwell.
But for those of us,
who sins are forgiven
with Jesus we will be
in a new earth and heaven.
My King is coming,
all things will be new
and He wants to be
your King too!
for the first heaven and the first earth
were passed away; and there was no more sea.”
My Everything ~
My Everthing CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann
Jesus ~ You’re my everything,
You are my all in all
there is such peace
when on Your name I call.
You fill me with hope,
You give my life purpose
may all You’re doing in me
continue to rise to the surface.
You’re my joy and happiness,
You are always around
in Your grace and mercy
I have learned to abound.
You are my helper,
You bring me great comfort
trusting in You . . .
takes of me, so little effort.
Jesus ~ You’re my everything,
You’re my beginning and end
You are my Lord, my Savior
my eternal Friend.
How Much Longer?
salvation-CHRISTian poetry by deborah nn
God is patient and long-suffering,
He would have not one perish
each and every soul He treasures
everyone He loves and cherish.
But, no one knows how long,
He will hold out His invitation
to except His Son’s sacrifice
and receive the gift of salvation.
Today, you may hear Him calling,
but, you’ve decided it could wait
never thinking for a moment
tomorrow may be too late.
Now is the time to listen to Him,
now is the time to believe
that Jesus died for your sins
so His grace you can receive.
You will be forgiven,
for every sinful act and deed
you will be able to trust in Him
for your every want and need.
Through the power of His Spirit,
He will make all things new
In Him, you will find strength
unlike anything, you ever knew.
So, don’t put off till tomorrow,
what you need to do today . . .
for the Holy Spirit may not come
or pass again ~ your way!
~~~~~~~~~~~

2 Peter 3:9
King James Version

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise,
as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward,
not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance.”

The Joy of Knowing Jesus ~

The Joy Of Jesus ~CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann

There’s nothing quite like,
the joy of knowing Jesus
how in every circumstance
He is always with us.

No matter the situation,
Jesus is always there
our happiness is in knowing
our burdens He will bear.

In times of want and need,
whatever be our condition
our gladness is in knowing
He’ll supply each provision.

When feeling overwhelmed,
by so many troubling things
our peace comes from knowing
the joy ~ Jesus brings!

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy
and peace in believing, that ye may abound
in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”

Son of Prediction ~

To Hell with the Devil by Jimmy Paragas #5554

Son of prediction,
man of deceit
on the world’s stage
all will bow at his feet.

World arbitrator,
charismatic and alluring
lies all lies
will be so reassuring.

Deluder of the masses,
with signs and wonders
every one under him
marked with his numbers.

Duper of the generation,
brings about world peace
a false sense of hope
but soon it will cease.

Epitome of sin,
the devil incarnate
wicked and evil
every soul his target.

The falling away,
has already begun
the door is now open
for this beast to come!

~~~~~~~~~~
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
King James Version
“Let no man deceive you by any means:
for that day shall not come,
except there come a falling away first,
and that man of sin be revealed,
the son of perdition;”
Narrow-Minded!
narrow-is-the-gate_CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann
Some say I’m narrow-minded,
they tell me I’m not at all tolerant
but I know what my Bible says
I’m OK if they think I am ignorant.
Just because I don’t agree,
with the new-age spirituality
doesn’t mean I’m being judgmental
I just understand God’s mentality.
Just because I don’t agree,
with the ruling for same sex-marriage
doesn’t mean I am full of hate
but, to God’s law it is a miscarriage.
Just because I don’t agree,
with abortion for any reason
doesn’t mean I am being unreasonable
but, to God it is a murderous season.
Just because I don’t agree,
with making marijuana legal
doesn’t mean I am uninformed
but, to God it is one of Satan’s evil.
Some say I am small-minded,
politically incorrect too . . .
but, I know the gate is narrow
and I must be ~ if I’m to make it through!
Matthew 7.14
King James Version
“Because strait is the gate,
and narrow is the way,
which leadeth unto life,
and few there be that find it.”
A Living God ~
hope-in-living-god CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann
I worship a living God,
the only one there is
every nation, every man
in the universe are His.
There’s no mother nature,
trees don’t have a soul
nor rocks or birds in the air
over Him have control.
He’s a God of power,
mighty are His works
unlike the other gods
who have worldly perks.
The vanities of other gods,
are full of nothingness
believing in them brings
only eternal emptiness.
Today there are millions,
of different gods and idols
but my hope is in the only God
who is living and not idle!
1 Timothy 4:10
King James Version
“For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach,
because we trust in the living God,
who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.”
Because of His Grace ~
shoulder-your-cross CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann
I have decided,
to take up my cross
to wear it, to bear it
no matter the loss.
I am persuaded,
it’s the right thing to do
to lift it, to carry it
all my days through.
I am convinced,
the cross is the only way
Jesus lived and He died
on it, for me that day.
I am determined,
my cross, I will embrace
lift it and bear it
all because of His grace!!
King James Version
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples,
If any man will come after me,
let him deny himself, and take up his cross,
and follow me.”
The Narrow Gate ~
jesusonlyway CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann
There’s only one direction to go,
only one road to take . . .
but few will discover the path
leading to the narrow gate.
It takes a lot of effort to find it,
determination to enter through
it takes more than going to church
sitting every Sunday in a pew.
For, wide is the road,
leading to death and destruction
and satan paves it with
worldly greed and seduction.
There’s only one finish line,
for us to race towards to win
there’s only one goal to have
but Heaven not all will enter in.
The gate we choose to take,
will determine our eternal fate
and we must decide if it be wide
or the one that is straight!
Matthew 7.14
King James Version
“Because strait is the gate,
and narrow is the way,
which leadeth unto life,
and few there be that find it.”
The Path of Praise ~
PraiseTheLord-CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann
The path of praise is paved,
with songs of joyousness
glorious hallelujahs
sung with thankfulness.
Praise fills the hearts,
of those who seek the Lord
they sing salvation’s song
with gratitude in each chord.
Trusting voices raise offerings,
of praise and adoration
to their almighty God
they sing their admiration.
Faithful lips sing the words,
of devotion to their Savior
praising and thanking Him
for His grace and favor.
The path of praise is paved,
with hallelujahs galore
filled with joyous thankfulness
to the One who they adore!
King James Version
“Praise ye the Lord.
Praise ye the name of the Lord;
praise him, O ye servants of the Lord.”
I Have A Cure!
i_am_not_ashamed_of_the_gospel CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann
I have a fever,
I’m burning up inside
I have a condition
that isn’t going to subside.
I have an illness,
a heart sickening sense
and there is a reason
my affliction is so tense.
I have a malady,
a God-given Holy fear
that the end for some
will soon be very near.
I have an infection,
a real spiritual need
to tell of a treatment
all sinners must heed.
I have a diagnosis,
an analysis to man’s pride
I use the Word of God
as my verdicts guide.
I have a cure,
the only way to get well
is to accept Jesus as your Savior
so not to be tormented in Satan’s hell!
John 5:24
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word,
and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life,
and shall not come into condemnation;
but is passed from death unto life.”
Instant Gratification ~
To Hell with the Devil by Jimmy Paragas #5554
We live in a world,
of want, want and want
and what we can’t have
just comes back to taunt.
Some have an attitude,
“of gotta’ have it now ”
no matter what it costs
“gonna get it some how.”
Borrow on the mortgage,
pay with a credit card
finding money somewhere
just isn’t very hard.
Some just cannot wait,
they need instant gratification
much to the devil’s delight
he has their full cooperation.
We live in a greedy world,
Satan will use any device
to get us what we want . . .
but oh, what the price!
~~~~~~~~~

Matthew 16:26
King James Version

“For what is a man profited,
if he shall gain the whole world,
and lose his own soul?
or what shall a man give
in exchange for his soul?”

With Fear and Trembling ~

cannot-compare-to-the-glory CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann

Be merciful towards me Lord,
I’m working out my salvation
with fear and trembling . . .
I’m going to win every temptation.

Be gracious towards me Lord,
I’m working to remain in Your love
with fear and trembling . . .
I’m storing my treasures up above.

Be patient towards me Lord,
I’m working to find true peace
with fear and trembling . . .
I’m looking for grace to increase.

Be gentle towards me Lord,
I’m working out Your written Word
with fear and trembling . . .
I’m practicing the truth I’ve heard.

Be compassionate towards me Lord,
I’m working hard to comprehend
with fear and trembling . . .
the fullness of You, my eternal Friend.

Be long-suffering toward me Lord,
I’m laboring to enter into Your rest
with fear and trembling . . .
I’m giving to You, my very best.

Be merciful towards me Lord,
I am working out my salvation
with fear and trembling . . .
till the day of Your glorious perfection!

Wrong Side of The Bed ~

your-spirit-is-strong-in-me_CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann

Lord, this morning I woke up,
on the wrong side of the bed
my mind was overwhelmed
with the day that was ahead.

I grabbed a cup of coffee,
picked up a good devotional
but I really wasn’t into it
didn’t find it to be consolable.

I gathered up my Bible,
read a verse or two . . .
but I really wasn’t focused
for the truth to get through.

My day didn’t get better,
it showed in my attitude
I wasn’t very kind or patient
didn’t give too much latitude.

Now that the evening’s here,
as I reflect upon my day
I can see how weak I am
when to Your Word I disobey.

Lord, this morning I woke up,
on the wrong side of the bed
so tonight, I’ll try the other side
and pray tomorrow, I’ll be spirit lead!

A New Dawn ~

Brand New Day by Gary Brower free photo #1088

Every day is a chance,
to renew your mind
every new dawn given
there’s new hope to find.

Every day is a chance,
for your Bible to explore
every new dawn given
let God heal and restore.

Every day is a chance,
to grow in His grace
every new dawn given
seek to find His face.

Every day is a chance,
to grow and to learn
every new dawn given
give God your concern.

Every day is a chance,
to get closer to the Lord
every new dawn given
to Jesus, look toward.

Every day is a chance,
to give God your strife
every new dawn given
let Jesus into your life!

Growing Old ~

growing-old-gracefully CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann

When your pain is unrelenting,
and no pill will make it ease
when your bones start to creak
and moving is no longer a breeze.

When you lift up your arms,
and a twinge runs down your spine
when your hips throb at night
and all you do is wince and whine.

When your knees cannot bend,
and your feet are too sore to hold you up
when your fingers are too stiff to move
and someone has to lift your coffee cup.

When sleep and rest does not come,
and you wake up in a deep thick fog
when the only fun you seem to have
is writing something witty on your blog.

When your body starts to go downhill,
and your sanity follows it along
that’s when you know you’re getting old,
and let’s face it ~

in my book, that’s just plain wrong!

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have made, and I will bear;
even I will carry, and will deliver you.”
The Power of Forgiveness ~
Forgiveness used with permission Doorpost Verses
There is nothing quite like,
the power of forgiveness
nothing is so freeing
as letting go of bitterness.
There nothing quite like,
forgiving and forgetting
undoing the damage done
without doubt or regretting.
There is nothing quite like,
a heart willing to believe
the words ~ I am sorry
so peace it can receive.
There is nothing quite like,
mending hurt feelings
resolving lifelong issues
to bring inner healing.
There is nothing quite like,
the attitude of humility
letting go and letting God
turn discord into tranquility.
There is nothing quite like,
the power of God’s grace
the pure joy of release
when forgiveness we embrace!
My Hope ~
my-hope-is-in-you CHRISTian poetry be deborah ann
While my flesh,
withers away
my hope is in
a better day.
The time coming,
when I’ll be at peace
while I’m waiting
my hope won’t cease.
Pressing on,
forward I go
perfect hope
in my soul flows.
As I wait,
for the Lord to come
on my heart-strings
my hope will strum.
Looking onward,
Jesus in my sight
eternal life . . .
hopes greatest delight.
While my flesh,
withers away
my hope rests in
that glorious day!
Hold On To The Truth ~
Guide Me in Truth used with permission Doorpost Verses on Facebook
Jesus didn’t say to go out in fear,
or to fret throughout our day
He didn’t say to sit and worry
or to follow the anxious way.
He didn’t say to lay our treasures,
in what this world has to offer
He didn’t say to hide our riches
or save them in a banker’s coffer.
He didn’t say He wouldn’t be there,
or that we would be all alone
He didn’t say He didn’t care
or that we’d be left on our own.
He didn’t say to seek after lust,
or to have eyes like the greedy
He didn’t say we would lack
be deprived, or poor, or needy.
But, Satan loves to turn,
Jesus’ words all around . . .
we must hold on to the truth
not the lies he uses to confound!
