The Reason for My Hope
I believe in God,
in all of His glorious creation
I believe He made the heavens
and the earth's foundation.I believe that man,
came from but dust
I believe it's God's image
He puts into all of us.I believe that Satan,
is the cause for our fallen state
I believe it's still his lies
he uses on us to trap and bait.I believe that man's heart,
has always been cold and callous
I believe it's full of deceit
filled with ungodly malice.I believe in Jesus,
God's only begotten Son
I believe He died and rose again
for the sins of everyone.I believe in redemption,
from our wicked, evil ways
I believe it's the blood of the Lamb
that washes our sins away.I believe in God's love,
I believe in His grace
I believe one day
God's judgement all will face.I believe in Heaven,
I also believe in hell . . .
I believe for eternity it's where
the unsaved will dwell.I believe in the hope,
Jesus imparts in me
I believe all can be saved

I don’t know if you’re familiar with Max Lucado, or may be a fan–but I’m rereading his book, On Calvary’s Hill. His gifted descriptions of what Jesus suffered are a heartbreaking reminder of how Big God’s Love is…they make me sad and grateful, and I pray to be worth of His sacrifice.

Yes, I know who Max Lucado is. I have read a few of his books one of my favorites is No Wonder They Call Him the Savior. It is a chronicle of the cross. I too find the stories about Christ’s love and grace through His torturous death on the cross heartbreaking and sad. And like you, I pray my life shows Him everyday my gratitude for His sacrifice!

Oh YES, I’ve read that one too–SO GOOD! I just ordered 8 more, in addition to his devotional– You Can Count On God (which is fabulous), and his Encouraging Word Bible. Have you seen it yet? The print is smaller than I like–but I needed encouragement after reading someone else who sounded like he hadn’t heard of God’s grace. I’ll be back after a bit to read your recent posts!

No I have not seen it yet. I need a larger print too. What new book of his would you recommend? I have been following Dr. David Jeremiah for many years now and just love him so much. He is a great encourager, teacher, and man of faith and is all about the grace of God!

I’d recommend ANY of Max’s books. My recent purchases: Help Is Here, Unshakable Hope, You Are Never Alone, He Still Moves Stones, He Chose the Nails, How Happiness Happens, He Gets Us, Our Ultimate Hope, He Fights For You. The last 2 are little books of God’s promises.
Deborah, I use 2 helps: a page-size lighted magnifier I got on Amazon, for actual books you hold & turn pages; and Libby app–books on my tablet. If you have a library card, it’s all you need…it’s FREE! Makes reading such a pleasure again. Do you need the link, or can you look it up?

Thanks for the list. I have one of those magnifiers and use it for the smaller prints. I can look up the link from here but will need to find my library card. Haven’t used it in year!

I hadn’t used mine in years either–but when an acquaintance told me about Libby, I was so excited. No more taking the bus, and carrying books back and forth! Yippee!
