My heart doesn’t lay,
it’s treasures on earth
for it knows one day
they’ll hold no worth.
Instead my heart places,
in God its daily trust
for I know His love for me
will never corrode or rust.
My heart doesn’t invest,
into worldly assets
for they are void of peace
riddled down with regrets.
Instead my heart’s devoted,
to the Life, Truth and Way
for I know my faith in Jesus
will not corrupt or decay.
My heart up in heaven,
lays all it holds dear . . .
for to put it here on earth
makes me shudder with fear!
~~~~~~~~~~
Lay not up for yourselves treasures
upon earth, where moth and rust
doth corrupt, and where thieves break
through and steal:
But lay up for
yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust
doth corrupt, and where thieves
do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also.
Debra would an absolutely beautiful post. A good reminder that money and things do not make one happy. We are all grateful and blessed if we have shelter food lodgings and a little money for extras that make us happy. But spending tons of money on gadgets and things never made anyone happy. Such a beautiful poem makes me think of Solomon. Blessings to you my sister in Christ, sending you love and prayers always.
I agree . . . shelter, food and clothing (and a car) are big blessing to have and I am grateful for each of them. The other stuff is just that stuff and as I get older I am getting rid of it and not buying anything new to replace it! ~ Have a blessed Lord’s Day ~
