If we were to think,
before we speak . . .
our tongues we’d hold
more in our cheeks.
If we carefully choose,
what words we use
we’d say things to lift up
not those that bruise.
If we were to ponder,
what we had to say
we’d be more likely
to stop first and pray.
If we were to select,
words comforting
our speech would be
far less confronting.
If we knew just how,
powerful our words were
the more encouragement
in others we’d stir.
If we were to just think,
before we speak . . .
more grace we’d have
the less others we’d critique!
~~~~~~~~~
“Let no corrupt communication
proceed out of your mouth,
but that which is good to
the use of edifying, that
it may minister grace
unto the hearers.”
