When to God you pray,
reflect on each word
think about their effect
before they are heard.
Don’t be in a hurry,
or go off on a rant
don’t use empty phrases
or offer a vague chant.
When to God you pray,
engage your heart wholly
let its reflections embody
all that’s scared and holy.
Don’t try to manipulate,
or use undo persuasion
don’t utilize the time
as a casual occasion.
When you pray to God,
don’t be long winded
don’t let your prayers
get stiff and rigid!
~~~~~~~~
Matthew 6:7
“But when ye pray, use not
vain repetitions, as the
heathen do: for they think
that they shall be heard
for their much speaking.“
