I’ve been through the storm,
of losing a child . . .
I’ve felt the searing pain
in my heart run wild.
I’ve seen grief destroy,
the lives of those left behind
I’ve seen families become
scattered and realigned.
I’ve seen sorrow up close,
the look you can’t miss
I’ve seen how it leaves
a hopeless, grim abyss.
I’ve seen how heartbreak,
crushes even the strongest
I’ve seen with its callous hold
there is no real contest.
I’ve seen God’s hand,
reach down from above
and touch the heartbroken
with His healing love!

“The grass withereth,
the flower fadeth:
but the word of our God
shall stand for ever.”

I can’t even comprehend what you went through…as a father of three young ones who are not even in school yet.

This poem could have been written just for my husband and I…as we lost our son when he was only 26 years old. Without our faith…where would we be? Possibly lost in a sea of sadness? Would we not be able to have a joyful time with our daughter and son-in-law? God did reach down and He said…”You can handle this…I am always here to hold your hands”…thank you for your wonderful poem!

So sorry to hear about your son. God has been sooooo good to me through my loss and has guarded my heart and mind with His peace. It is that peace He promised us in Philippians and until you have it you just don’t get it. But, I got it and I am soooo thankful for His promise to give it to those who are anxious for nothing, who are prayerful and thankful even when tragedy strikes. The hole left in our hearts from the loss of our boys is one that is now filled with His peace. Thank you Jesus, thank you Father for great is Your Faithfulness! ~ Have a blessed day with Jesus ~
