If Our Right Eye Offends ~
If our right eye offends,
then why do we keep looking
if it’s not to desire things of the world
then why are they still so alluring?
If our right eye offends,
then why do we look with the left one
if it’s not to regard the lusts of the world
then why is it not focusing on the Son?
If the right eye offends,
then why do we seek what’s morally wrong
if it’s not to be conformed to the world
then why after it do we still long?
If our right eye offends,
then why do we not look the other way
if it’s not to seek the world’s riches
then why to them do we still sway?
If our right eye offends,
then why does it roam all about
if it sees things so alluring and deceitful . . .
then why don’t we just pluck it out!
~~~~~~~~
“And the cares of this world,
and the deceitfulness of riches,
and the lusts of other things
entering in, choke the word,
and it becometh unfruitful.
“And if thy right eye offend thee,
pluck it out, and cast it from thee:
for it is profitable for thee that
one of thy members should perish,
and not that thy whole body should
be cast into hell.”
Our Heart’s Desire ~
If we want God to give,
the desires of our heart
then from His own heart
we cannot be far apart.
For what may be in ours,
might not be in His own
as ours wants and needs
are often selfish prone.
If we want God to grant,
us our heart’s longings
then after worldly things
we mush stop yearning.
For the lusts of the flesh,
our sinful fancies
will only bring to us
eternal penalties.
If we want God to give,
the desires of our heart
then to His ways we must . . .
delight in and never part!
~~~~~~~~
“Delight thyself also in the Lord:
and he shall give thee
the desires of thine heart.

If Jesus Were to Ask ~
If Jesus were to ask me,
right here, right now today
to give up all I have . . .
and with Him, to walk away.
Would I stop and turn,
look back with deep regret
for all that I’d be leaving
would I be sad or upset?
If Jesus were to say to me,
abandon all you truly cherish
would I bid farewell . . .
to all I honestly do relish?
Would I rather hold on to,
all my worldly possessions
or would I willingly let go of
all my earthly obsessions?
If Jesus were to ask me,
to leave with Him today
to give up all I have . . .
what would, to Him, I say?
~~~~~~~~~~~
“Then Jesus beholding him loved him,
and said unto him, One thing thou lackest:
go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast,
and give to the poor, and thou shalt have
treasure in heaven: and come,
take up the cross, and follow me.”
And he was sad at that saying, and went away
grieved: for he had great possessions.”
Into the World ~
When I was younger,
to all, I must admit
unto worldly lusts . . .
I often did submit.
It use to be fun,
to go out and play
so much temptation
out there on display.
At times, I thought,
how could this be right?
But, in the darkness . . .
who can spot the light?
Looking back I can see,
what a mess I made . . .
for all those fun times
oh, how I have paid.
Now that I am older,
I’m on the narrow way
from its straightness
I pray never to stray.
So, to all the youth,
take this to heart
into worldly lusts . . .
don’t even start!
Richer Than Most ~
Some people need fancy homes,
the most extravagant new car
some people need jet airplanes
so they can travel near and far.
Some people need fast race boats,
vacation homes on the lake
some people need high paying jobs
so more money they can make.
Some people need elaborate cloths,
jewelry and diamond rings
some people need a stock account
and the interest that it brings.
I have none of these things,
in which to flaunt or to boast
but I do have Jesus . . .
making me richer than most!
1 Timothy 6:17
King James Version
“Charge them that are rich in this world,
that they be not highminded,
nor trust in uncertain riches,
but in the living God,
who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;”
Hearses Don’t Pull Trailers ~
Hearses don’t pull trailers,
loaded with earthly treasures
they don’t tow your worth
or your worldly measures.
They don’t carry the living,
with their prized possessions
they only bring along coffins
to the grave side processions.
You can’t take it with you,
all you’ve acquire will turn to rust
what you adore and cherish
will be left behind in the dust.
You can’t haul away your stuff,
there’s no place in heaven for it
one day all you own and love
to the world you’ll have to forfeit.
There is no trailer hitch,
attached to that black hearse
but, you can lay up your treasures
if you read and apply God’s verse.
So, don’t cling onto the things,
that you have saved up and stored
let go of them and turn to God . . .
and your soul He will reward!
Matthew 6:20-21
King James Version
“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
