Lord, establish my steps,
so I may follow Yours
let me not to Your ways
disregard or ignore.
Keep my feet walking,
on firm, solid ground
let not man take from me
the truth I have found.
Keep me on the pathway,
of faith and trust
let Your Word teach me
when I need to adjust.
Help me to see past,
the darkness around me
so I can pray for those
who still do not know Thee.
Lord, order my steps,
to obey Your laws
give me the insight
to see my own flaws!
~~~~~~
Psalm 119:133-136
Order my steps in thy word:
and let not any iniquity
have dominion over me.
Deliver me from the
oppression of man:
so will I keep thy precepts.
Make thy face to shine upon
thy servant; and teach me
thy statutes.
Rivers of waters run
down mine eyes, because
they keep not thy law.”
Who can be saved,
who can find the way
to the truth . . .
who’s heart can we sway?
The poor, the needy,
the contrite in spirit
the criminal, the crook
the morally illicit.
The heartbroken, the sick,
the lonely and heavy-laden
the prodigal, the wanderer
the weak and the shaken.
The meek, the lowly,
the forsaken desperate
the oppressed, the hopeless
the impossible degenerate.
The remorseful, the sad,
the penitent and regretful
to these and many more
we need not be neglectful!
Teach the little children,
while they are still young
to give thanks to the Lord
in every song that is sung.
Teach them to pray,
for the Holy Spirit’s filling
tell them that it is more
than just a onetime feeling.
Teach them to read and study,
how God would have them go
let them know in His Word
the way He will always show.
Teach them to understand,
for them, God has a plan
let them know it’s not the same
as the world has for man.
Teach them to respect,
themselves and others too
remind them God is looking
at what they say and do.
Teach them to set their sights,
on their heavenly treasures
not the ones here on earth
reeking of worldly pleasures.
Teach them to love God,
with all their heart and soul
let them know Jesus died
so they’d be complete and whole.
Teach them not just on Sundays,
but each and everyday . . .
just how narrow is the gate
so their tender hearts won’t stray.
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.”
Lord, humble me in Your mercy,
let fairness be my guide
for I know without Your justice
from my sins I cannot hide.
Give to me Your understanding,
let Your truth direct my day
for I know without Your guidance
I would surely lose my way.
Show me Your compassion,
help me to know Your will
for I know without Your goodness
I could never possess the skill.
Test my faith with consideration,
let Your wisdom speak out to me
for I know without Your grace
Your righteousness I couldn’t see.
Teach me about forgiveness,
let Your kindness in me thrive
for I know without Your passion
Your Spirit in me wouldn’t be alive.
Lord, humble me in Your mercy,
let Your love dwell deep within
for I know You died for me
so I wouldn’t perish in my sin.
Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
The humble He guides in justice,
And the humble He teaches His way.”
Lord, teach this little sparrow to fly,
give me the wings like a dove
show me how to soar like an eagle
so I can rise and mount in Your love.
Teach me to fly ~ Lord Jesus,
take me up and over the high sea
show me how to spread my wings
so I may swoop in next to Thee.
Lord, teach this little sparrow to fly,
take me through each dark valley
show me how to climb every mountain
so I’ll know when to glide or to rally.
Teach me to fly ~ Lord Jesus,
take me under the shadow of Your wings
show me how to hover after every storm
so I may rest in the peace that it brings.
Teach this little sparrow to fly ~ Dear Lord,
let me float on the breeze of Your love
give me the spirit like a bold eagle
and the wings of a faithful dove.
Luke 12:7
“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”
Psalm 55:6
“So I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest.”
Isaiah 40:31
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
I’m still listening Lord,
my ears are ever more inclined
to Your instructions
that for me, You’ve designed.
I’m still trainable,
Your wisdom I will always need
give me more of Your advice
and to Your Word I will heed.
I know it takes time,
for Your knowledge to set in
every day I am comprehending
where awareness truly begins.
Help me to keep learning Lord,
even though I’m getting old
give me more of Your wisdom
so Your full glory I can behold!
