The Old Man
no longer lives in me
it is now the New Man
that I choose to be.
For I have put-off,
the things I use to do
I have put-on these things
Lord . . . just for You . . .
Irritation for meekness,
dishonesty for truthfulness
quarrelsome for harmony
bitterness for forgiveness.
Bragging for humbleness,
idleness for service
cheating for honesty
emptiness for purpose.
Blaming for responsibility,
complacency for eagerness
complaining for thankfulness
depression for happiness.
Annoyance for contentment,
laziness for keenness
defiance for obedience
divisiveness for stillness.
Hatred for love,
resentful for delightful
greediness for gladness
drunkenness for self-control.
Shame for confession,
un-holiness for righteousness
sin for repentance
irresponsible for cautiousness.
Envious for satisfaction,
disbelief for trust
gossip for good reports
unfairness for being just.
Excess for restraint,
old ways for the new
following the world . . .
for following after You!

Ephesians 4:22-24
“That ye put off concerning the former
conversation the old man, which is corrupt
according to the deceitful lusts;
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And that ye put on the new man,
which after God is created
in righteousness and true holiness.”
