Lord this hurts,
even after all these years
this empty, void space
still brings me to tears.
Like a knife,
my heart its cut through
so I’ll continue to give . . .
this pain over to You.
Lord this hurts,
in every single way
it still is painful
no matter what they say.
Like a vise,
my heart its crushed
so onto You my grief
I will continue to thrust.
Lord this hurts,
it’s more than I can take
only with Your strength
can another year I make!

God keeps doing wonders,
with broken hearts . . .
He can still heal and mend
all the injured parts.
But, you must give Him,
your heart as it breaks
each little piece of it
and all the little flakes.
God can perform miracles,
on hearts that are damaged
He can undo the impact
where grief has ravaged.
But, you must go to Him,
with a heart surrendered
so He can do the repairs
without being hindered.
God continues to do wonders,
miracles He still performs
for the heart that is broken
He mercifully transforms!

God’s brought me through,
the valley of pain . . .
gave me His strength
for He knew my strain.
He took me by the hand,
lead me through my grief
promised with each step
in Him I’d find relief.
I held on so tightly,
for I thought I’d faint
but God became for me
sorrow’s constraint.
Some days are really hard,
others not so bad . . .
but God comforts me
when I’m feeling sad.
Through the valley of grief,
heartache and mourning
God keeps reminding me . . .
joy will come in the morning!

Some people appear,
strong on the outside
when really they’re falling
apart on the inside.
Some people pretend,
they have it all together
some contend alone
any storm they can weather.
Some people claim,
they don’t need any aid
some camouflage
just how much their afraid.
Some people look,
happy and joyful
some disguise so well
a heart, sorrowful.
Some people are indeed,
strong on the outside
for, God comforts those
who mourn on the inside!

I have felt grief . . .
smacking me on the shoulder
I have felt it in my gut
hit me like a ten-ton boulder.
I have felt its shock,
just like a lighting bolt
Iโve felt its thunder
deliver stunning jolt.
I have felt grief . . .
punch me square in my face
Iโve felt its torment
my whole body encase.
I have felt its aftershock,
shake up my entire world
Iโve felt its terror quiver
as its pain was unfurled.
Each time I feel the pain,
brought on only by grief
I go straight to Jesus . . .
to give my heart relief!

Good morning joy,
it’s so nice to see you
its such a blessing
to have you in my view.
Good morning joy,
thank you for greeting me
it’s so nice knowing
today with me you’ll be.
Good morning joy,
it’s a wonder you are here
I know God sent you
to dry my every tear.
Good morning joy,
though I’m still grieving
just the thought of you
is soothing and relieving.
Good morning joy,
it’s so comforting to know
you’ll be following me
where ever today I go!

Some hide behind,
masks of every kind
some wear disguises
if only in their mind.
Some camouflage,
who they truly are
some cover up
life’sย many battle scars.
Some keep hidden,
theย agony they feel
someย theirย heartache
theyย wantย to conceal.
Some pretend to be,
happy when they’re not
some try to obscure
the problems they’ve got.
Some gloss over,
their heart’s insecurities
some try to cloak
their personal disabilities.
But, behind our masks,
from God we canโt hide
for He sees everything . . .
going on from the inside.
So, take off that disguise,
you are hiding behind
and let God transform . . .
your heart and mind!

Some days its hard,
just getting out of bed
my heart seems as if . . .
it were full of lead.
Pain and heartache,
has it weighed down
as does the heaviness
of wearing sorrows frown.
But, today will be,
a day I will rise . . .
without one tear
welling in my eyes.
Instead I will leap,
right out of this bed
and on Jesus my grief
I am going to shed.
Some days its hard,
to find joy in the morning
especially when your heart
is in a state of mourning!

Life goes on son,
though you’re not here
time passes by
year, after year, after year.
There isn’t a moment,
that passes me by
when I don’t think of you
with tears in my eyes.
Life goes on,
day, after day, after day
yet without you around
I’m trying to find my way.
There isn’t an hour,
that passes on the clock
when with God I don’t have
a heart to heart talk.
For God brings me comfort,
my pain and grief He hears
and for you, He’s gathering
all of my heartsick tears.
Life goes on,
though you I can’t see
but, in my heart son
you will always be!

Sweet drops of mercy,
on my soul rain
to heal and ease
the ache, in my pain.
Sweet drops of mercy,
sent each day anew
to swaddle my sorrow
in a blanket of dew.
Sweet drops of mercy,
on my heart parade
tenderly on my grief
His favors cascade.
Sweet drops of mercy,
soaking into my soul
so they, my heartache
can sooth and console.
Sweet drops of mercy,
God sends from above
to soak the brokenhearted
in the pearls of His love!

Lord, what is this mystery,
You’re performing in me
what is it that You’re doing
in places, I cannot see?
What are Your hands making,
what now are they holding
is this too something else
in my life needing molding?
Lord, what are Your plans,
what is Your strategy
why is it I have peace
instead of agony?
Are you using my tears,
sorrow, grief and pain
to carve another place in me
for You to come and reign?
Lord, what is this mystery,
You’re performing in me
whatever it is I know . . .
it’s bringing me closer to Thee!

The path of grief,
is long and steep
day’s pass slowly
night’s just creep.
The road’s winding,
the pain reels
brokenness
is all one feels.
The path of sorrow,
is wide and deep
one never knows
when they’ll weep.
The way is hard,
the despair intense
the valley seems
so immense.
The path of grief,
is long and steep
but Jesus comforts
His grieving sheep!

I focus not, on my grief,
nor those who caused my loss
I focus in on my Savior . . . .
all He did for me, on the cross.
I focus not, on my pain,
nor the reason for my sorrow
I focusย on the eyes of God . . .
who sees, thisย broken sparrow.
I focus not on my heartache,
nor the cause of all my tears
I focus in on the assurance . . .
Jesus is the cure, for my fears.
I focus not on my anguish,
nor the misery of my despair
I focus in on the love of God . . .
knowing my heart, He’ll repair.
I focus not on my grief,
nor my loss, sorrow or the pain
I focus in on the hope I have . . .
when Jesus comes again to reign!

In the valley I found,
my Shepherd waiting there
to lead and to guide me . . .
how to give Him my care.
He offered me His staff,
to lean my weariness upon
He took from me my grief
gave me joy to put on.
In the midst of tragedy,
suffering, pain and loss
His rod directed me . . .
to the work on the cross.
He gave me the strength,
hope for each tomorrow
for, He took upon Himself
the pain of my sorrow.
In the valley I found,
my Shepherd waiting there
and now I have His peace
replacing my despair!

When we walk in the dark,
Jesus will bring us to His light
when we embrace our fears
He’ll hold us through the night.
When we feel we are unloved,
Jesus will call out our name
when we feel our own disgrace
He’ll take away our shame.
When we feel over burdened,
Jesus will carry away our strife
when we feel the sting of death
He’ll bring us eternal life.
When we feel like giving up,
Jesus will stretch out His hand
when we feel faint and weak
He’ll help us to rise and stand.
When we feel there is no hope,
Jesus will bring to us His love
when we feel our heart heavy
He’ll send mercy from above.
When we walk in His light,
all things become more clear
when we come out of the dark
He will hold us close and near!

Father God,
I do pray . . .
for the wandering
and lost today.
They’ve been hurt,
along the way . . .
and from Your path
they’ve gone astray.
Their hearts are broken,
their pain is for real
they’ve lost their joy
from the ache they feel.
They no longer see,
Your truth or light
the road for them
is as dark as night.
Their trust in You,
just plain ran out
and instead of faith
they live with doubt.
Father God,
I do pray . . .
You’ll bring back
all who stray!
