Finger Pointers ~

If we’re not to be,
finger pointers . . . .
then why are we still
reputation spoilers?

If we’re not to gossip,
or stab in the back
then why do we still
let our lips smack?

If our tongues,
we need to bite
then why are they still
in a rush to fight?

If our lips,
we need to restrain
they why do we still
lash out in disdain?

If we we’re to see past,
our own smugness . . .
our fingers would point
right back at us!

“Keep thy tongue from evil,
and thy lips from speaking guile.”

Reaping What We Sow ~

give-me-heart-of-sympathetic-tender_ used with permission IBible Verses

If everyone followed,
the rule that is golden
then to these words
they would feel beholden.

If you want to be forgiven,
you must learn to forgive
if you want encouragement
affirmation you must give.

If you feel hurt and wounded,
in need of a gentle touch
you will need to be sensitive
when to pain, others clutch.

If need to be understood,
you must show others grace
if you want compassion
mercy you need to embrace.

If you don’t like gossip,
then watch what you say
If you don’t want to be judged,
then turn your cheek away.

If you’re in need of friends,
with sympathetic ears
yours too must be willing
to be thoughtful to all it hears.

If you want to be treated kindly,
you must first treat other’s so
for, I’ve read it in the Bible . . .
we shall reap what we sow!

King James Version

“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would
that men should do to you, do ye even so to them:
for this is the law and the prophets.”

A Deadly Weapon ~

Take Control used with permission IBible Verses

The tongue is a deadly weapon,
we use it for our own gain
like an arrow we shoot it off
to inflict on others a taste of pain.

Gossip is just another way,
for it to hit its intended mark
the lies it chooses to project
leaves not a soul in the dark.

The busybody likes to spin tales,
into stories somewhat true
it takes another gossip-monger
to make the rumors stick like glue.

The idle tongue loosely jabbers,
while it travels on its scandalous quest
telling all those who will listen
“I need to get something off my chest.”

The bitter arrows fly at will,
they know the target in their sight
for the lying lips behind the gossip
don’t care if they are wrong or right.

With bitter words and acid talk,
the tongue will bend and sway
but rest assured my prattling friend
our words will return to us one day.

It’s true the tongue holds great power,
it can bring about life or even death
so tame it while you still can . . .
or learn to hold your bloody breath!

James 3:8
King James Version

“But the tongue can no man tame;
it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

The Tongue ~

The Tongue ~ CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann

With fire and venom,
the tongue likes to spin
spewing out it’s thoughts
from the hypocrisy within.

Judging one another,
but never – ever itself
the tongue is the critic
that will not die to self.

Sharp and two-edged,
it will quickly cut in half
the truth as it’s known
in the wake of its wrath.

Full of nasty criticism,
with a temper not to still
the tongue is the enemy
keeping us from God’s will.

Hateful and spiteful,
it’s deeds are no match
to the deceit it holds
in the lies it can hatch.

Dangerous and unsafe,
it’s ambition is to destroy
gossip is the ammunition
that it loves to employ.

With fire and venom,
the tongue likes to sin
and with its hypocrisy
it’s always out to win!

James 3:5
King James Version

“Even so the tongue is a little member,
and boasteth great things.
Behold, how great a matter
a little fire kindleth!”

What is This Unruly Thing ~

What is this wild thing,
that my mouth has inside
what causes it to lash about
in its smugness and its pride?

How can it sing praises to God,
then chant ~ its curses to man
what is this wild thing . . .
that says whatever it thinks it can?

What causes it to be so untamed,
without a bridle or a rein
what can I do to control this thing
that has its own heart and brain?

Why does it speak such evil,
and at times act out so bad
what is this wild thing . . .
that gets so angry and mad?

Who can restrain this unruly thing,
that is filled with poison and fire
who can tame this beastly thing
that’s filled with worldly desire?

What is this unruly thing,
that my mouth has inside
what causes it to lash about . .  .
other than my own selfish pride!

James 3:8

“But the tongue
can no man tame;
it is an
unruly evil,
full of deadly poison.”

Marc Minter

Jesus is the well of the living water, the Holy Spirit.

“It was the last and most important day of the Feast. Jesus stood up and spoke in a loud voice. He said, "Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Does anyone believe in me? Then, just as Scripture says, streams of living water will flow from inside him." When he said this, he meant the Holy Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus would receive the Spirit later. Up to that time, the Spirit had not been given. This was because Jesus had not yet received glory.” ‭‭(John‬ ‭7:37-39‬)
