My Anchor ~

I thought I could sail,
and coast along the way
until I got caught
in a storm the other day.

I wasn’t really ready,
for the tempest ahead of me
for these once calm waters
were becoming an angry sea.

As the wind began to blow,
it threw me off my chair
when it started to howl
it gave me quite a scare.

But, I held on to the wheel,
aimed for the shore
I stepped on the gas
with the pedal to the floor.

As the sea began to churn,
I saw I wasn’t going anywhere
so I threw in my anchor
knowing I had to prepare.

I clung onto my faith,
prayed with all my might
I hung onto every promise
He’d guide me in His light.

As the waves tossed and turned,
I gathered up my trust
quoted from the Scriptures
with each and every thrust.

When the storm was finally over,
and I was safely at the dock
I was glad that I set my anchor
to the One I call my Rock!

Hebrews 6:19
King James Version

“Which hope we have as an
anchor of the soul,
 both sure and stedfast:”

I Too Can Cross My Jordan

I too can see the holy pillar,
at the edge of my wilderness
I too can see the light
and I pursue it with eagerness.

I too can see the mighty cloud,
as it goes out before me
I too can see the fire
and I will follow it to the sea.

I too can cross my Jordan,
and make it to the other side
I too can pass through
with confidence in my stride.

I too can see the Lord,
a witness to His divine guidance
I too can hear the Lord
and know my fears He will silence.

I too can reach the promise land,
as I learn to trust God with my life
I too can find His blessed provisions
to overcome the state of my strife!

Exodus 13:20

“And the Lord went before them by day in
a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the
way; and by night in a pillar of fire,
to give light; to go by day and night.”

Oh, Little Lamb

Oh, little lamb run to Him,
He will gather you in His arms
He will cradle you in His strength
protect you from all that harms.

You may be strong in your faith,
you may have wandered far . . .
oh, little lamb don’t you see
God loves you ~ no matter who you are.

He sees the fearful, fainting ones,
He yearns toward the meek and contrite
oh, little lamb don’t you see
just how precious you are ~ in His sight.

He renews and restores strength,
He tenderly cares for all of His sheep
oh, little lamb don’t you see,
He sees every tear ~ that you weep.

He loves the first and the last,
all His sheep ~ He does cherish
Oh, little lamb don’t you see
He wishes not one ~ should perish.

Oh, little lamb run to Him,
He will keep you safe and warm
come little one, and join in the circle
and embrace His everlasting arm!

King James Version

“He shall gather the lambs with his arm.”

Singing My Praise ~

Sometimes I want to stand,
on the highest hill . . .
raise my hands to the Lord
so I can tell Him how I feel.

I want to shout out my love,
hear His echo back at me
I want to close my eyes tight
until His face is all I see.

Sometimes I want to be alone,
on the tallest mountain top
sing my praises to the Lord
never wishing for them to stop.

I want to show my gratefulness,
with a standing ovation
I want to shout out my thanks
so He’ll know my appreciation.

Sometimes I want to stand,
and soak in His peace . . .
I want to raise my hands upwards
and my praise just release!

Psalm 57:7
King James Version

“My heart is fixed,
O God, my heart is fixed

I will sing and give praise.”

Dear ~ Fainthearted One

Oh, dear fainthearted one,
does life have you down?
Has depression robbed your smile,
and given you its hopeless frown?

Do worry lines map your face,
are your eyes filled with fear?
Do you embrace your melancholy,
and hold anxiousness near and dear?

Has your doubt caught up with you,
has it stolen your peace of mind?
Does confusion torment your soul,
making tranquility hard to find?

Has your devotion bottomed out,
is your hope in things that won’t last?
Has your faithfulness withered away,
do you still hold on to your gloomy past?

Oh, dear fainthearted one,
don’t you stop trusting or believing
give God all that makes your faith weak
and His strength you’ll start receiving!

King James Version

“Comfort the fainthearted.”

For Every Beginning

For every beginning,
there must be an end
just like a rainbow
must  have a bend.

But, He who has begun,
a good work in you
will be there to help
and see you through.

For what He begins,
will not  fade away
what He has started
He’ll complete one day.

His love set in motion,
is constant and true
He’ll never cease
taking care of  you.

His comfort is steady,
to soothe and to ease
He is always  eager
to satisfy and to please.

His hope is ceaseless,
forever it  goes on
just like a new day
must have a dawn.

His faithfulness persists,
no matter the season
He’ll always forgive you
no matter the  reason.

His gentle, kind mercies,
are eternally bound
forever they  will comfort
they are yours to be found.

His truth sets us  free,
from Satan’s deception
and He’ll liberate us all
on the Day of  Redemption.

For those who endure,
will be saved to the end
and  you’ll find in Jesus
you’ll have no better a friend.

So, give your  life to Jesus,
and you’ll find perfect rest
just like the sun
must  set in the west . . .

King James Version

“Being confident of this very thing,
that he which hath begun a good work
in you will perform it until the day of
Jesus Christ:”

Is That You Lord?

Is that you Lord,
is that You, I felt just now?
Is that You, who touched my heart,
and brushed upon my brow?

Is that You Lord,
is that You, I heard softly say?
Is that You, who whispered to me,
You’ll get me through this day?

Is that You Lord,
is that You, I seem to sense?
Is that You, who left the impression,
that made me feel less tense?

Is that You Lord,
is that You, stirring up in me?
Is that You, who gave me inspiration,
to trust in what I cannot see?

Is that You Lord,
is that You, I believe is near?
It must be You, who embraced me,
for no one else is here!

2 Corinthians 13:14
King James Version

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God, and the communion
of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.”

why did you pick on me
what was it that you saw
that no one else could see?

sticks and stones cast
did you not realize
how long the pain would last?

names, but not my God-given
they were the ones
that made me hate livin’.

words so very cruel
why did you think
I was made to be your fool?

what did I ever do . . .
what did I ever say . . .
to bring the bully out in you?

you really did hurt me
but my Lord and Savior
from you, has set me free.

Autumn Blessings ~

Autumn Blessings ~ CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann

Autumn brings to the soul relief,
as hot Summer days, slip to an end
God sent the season for weary hearts
to restore, repair and mend.

Unlike the Autumn trees,
that shed their changing leaves
God sent the season for failing hearts
to adhere, embrace and cleave.

Just as with the Autumn winds,
there comes a new refreshing rain
God sent the season for fraying hearts
to increase, grow and gain.

The Autumn sun is slow to climb,
and dips much earlier into the night
God sent the season for sleepy hearts
to rise, shine and awake in His light.

God gave to us the Autumn season,
so we could have a respite and rest
for it is the season for our beset souls
to see how much we are blessed!

Psalm 16:9
King James Version

“Therefore my heart is glad,
and my glory rejoiceth:

my flesh also shall rest
in hope.”

More of You Lord ~

More of You Lord, more of You,
in all the things I say and do
less of me Lord, less of me
so more like You I can be.

Lord, I give You all my doubts,
with them You can have my fear
take from me my wariness
move me close and draw me near.

More of You Lord, more of You,
oh Dear Jesus, can’t You see
I want to die to me and live for You,
I need more of You and less of me

Lord, I will give You all my love,
please take my heart, it’s Yours too
I need You to be my soul’s reflection
please take my life and make it new.

More of Your will and less of mine,
help me to be to myself blind
show Your way and give me direction
lead me in the truth, till You I find.

I need more of You Lord, more of You,
in all the things I say and do
I need less of me Lord, less of me
so more of You I will forever be!

and to die is gain.”

Perfection ~

Perfection ~ CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann

Give me the cross,
and its perfection
give me Jesus
as my direction.

Give me the hope,
of the Lamb
give me the strength
of I AM.

Give me the joy,
that is eternal
give me the peace
that is internal.

Give me the trust,
of being forgiven
give me a life
Holy Spirit driven.

Give me the cross,
and its assurance
give me faith
and its endurance!

King James Version

“Let us draw near with a true heart in full
assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our
bodies washed with pure water.”

God’s Embrace

I felt the arms of God
wrap around me today
while I was on my knees
before I began to pray.

He held me close to Him
as I poured my heart out
I felt His warm embrace
encircle my gripping doubt.

He took me into His arms
and I rested there for a while
until my soul was reassured
He’d see me through this trial.

I felt a gentle squeeze
somewhere deep in my heart
and soon all of my worries
began to vanish and depart.

I’m not sure how long He held me
nor how long in His arms I was there
but when I rose to leave
I had not a worry or a care!

and there is nothing too hard for thee:”

Whole and Complete

Do you feel whole and complete,
or sense there’s something missing?
Are you aware of an emptiness
and find your mind always drifting?

Do you try to fill that void,
with people, things and places?
Do your achievements and rewards
take up all those empty spaces?

Are you searching for significance,
something that’ll give your life meaning?
Are you looking for heaven on earth
but find that your heart is still bleeding?

Are you carrying a life-long burden,
that keeps you from finding God’s peace?
Are you hauling around your past sin
so your guilt and shame never cease?

Then my friend you must let Jesus,
penetrate into your heart and soul
and the root of your incompleteness
He will reveal . . . and make you whole.

King James Version

“And the very God of peace sanctify you
wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and
soul and body be preserved blameless unto
the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

I’m Being Tested . . .

I’m being tested . . .
I can see the angry sea
and any moment now
it could crash down on me.

If I doubt ~ I might sink,
but with faith I will swim
all I need to do . . .
is to keep my eyes on Him.

Jesus is on the other side,
of this sea that is raging
and my patience and belief
He’s measuring and gauging.

The waves are coming,
I can sense their future fear
but I know that in any storm
my Savior is always near.

I’ll not drown in these waters,
or be swept into the deep
for Jesus promises to protect
all of His precious little sheep.

I’m being tested . . .
I can see the angry sea
but I will not panic
I’ll let my faith work for me.

James 1:3

worketh patience.”

Hurry Lord . . .

Hurry Lord, come quickly ~
I so need You now
rush to me, help me
the way, You know how.

Hurry Lord, do not tarry,
my heart is growing faint
rush to me, faster yet
I need Your restraint.

Hurry Lord, make haste,
I am growing weak
rush to me, swiftly still
Your strength, is what I seek.

Hurry Lord, do not dawdle,
my soul really needs You
rush to me, run if You must
for I need, Your wisdom too ~

Who’s In Control?

Some say their faith is doing just fine,
and that Jesus is in charge of their soul
but, when you look deep into their heart
they are the ones ~ who are in control.

They say Jesus is their all in all . . .
and that He is the Lord of their life
but, when hard times come a calling
their trust in Him ~ is lost in the strife.

They say they pray and study the Word,
and that they stay on the narrow way
but, when you see them out in the world
they don’t act the way ~ that they say.

They say Jesus is the great physician,
and all they need is a touch of His hem
but, when they are spiritually sick or ill
they turn to everything else ~ but Him.

They say He is their refuge and harbor,
and they seek Him for peace and shelter
but, when adversities wind starts to blow
their lives turn into mere ~ helter-skelter.

They say Jesus is their true Shepherd,
and they follow His every steps
but, when you see where they’ve been
they have not followed ~ His concepts.

Some say their faith is doing just fine,
and heaven is their eternal goal . . .
but, when you look deep into their heart
. . . . keep praying for their soul.

Matthew 7:14
King James Version

“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the
way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be
that find it.”

Nana, Why Can’t We See Angels?

“Nana, why can’t we see angels?”
My grandson one day asked me.
“Why if they are here with us . . .
their wings we cannot see?”

I took him by the hand,
and we walked my garden path
and the innocence of his question
gave my heart a happy, little laugh.

I knew I had to give an answer,
that his tender heart could hold
for God gave me my own angel
so his soul ~ I could help to mold.

“Although you can’t see angels,
they’re right here in front of you
and no matter where you go
they surround you in all you do.

They rush to your side,
when you need a friend and helper
and when you get into trouble
they become for you, God’s shelter.

They wrap their arms around you,
when you go to bed each night
they keep your heart close to Jesus
until you see the morning light.

They are given to you by God,
to keep you safe and warm
and it is their duty and obligation
to keep you from Satan’s harm.

All you have to do is to believe,
that angels are for real . . .
and if you always trust in God
in your heart, their wings you will feel.”

Psalm 91:11
King James Version

” For he shall give his angels charge over thee,
to keep thee in all thy ways.”

Everyday Struggles ~

Everyday Struggles ~ CHRISTian poetry by deboorah ann

Everyday becomes a struggle,
when from God’s Word we stray
every hour is more miserable
when we don’t trust and  pray.

Everything looks impossible,
when His hope is not there
every problem looks bleaker
when we don’t believe He cares.

Every worry seems unbearable,
when His mercy we don’t claim
every care is more insufferable
when we don’t call upon His name.

Every mountain seems higher,
when we climb it all alone
every valley is a little deeper
when we wander off on our own.

Everyone who goes about,
doing whatever it is they will . . .
will never know the kind of peace
that only God can instill!

Psalm 46:1
King James Version

“God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.”

The Great Deceiver ~

When darkness falls upon you,
and depression steps on in
when gloominess fills your mind
and the True Light begins to dim.

When your faith starts to crack,
under the pressures of self-doubt
and you notice you have begun
to shut the Good Word out.

When your burdens are piled up,
and they seem to be a mile high
when you start to question God
and you begin to ask Him why.

That’s when you need to trust Him,
like you have never done before
and you must not let the enemy
enter into your heart’s door.

For, Satan is the great deceiver,
he’s behind every fatal thought
and he will not be satisfied
until his every lie is bought!

for we are not ignorant of his devices.”

I Will Carry You ~

When you’re feeling over burdened,
and the answers are far and few
when your troubles cause you to fall
I will carry you.

When you’re feeling overwhelmed,
and you don’t know what to do
when your worries cause you to drop
I will carry you.

When you’re tired and oppressed,
and you’re weary of the world view
when your dreams cause you to weep
I will carry you.

When you’re beaten up and broken,
and you have no one else to turn to
when your pain cause you to give away
I will carry you.

When you’re life becomes unraveled,
and everything seems to be askew.
when your cares cause you to break down,
I will carry you.

When you’re path becomes uncertain,
and yet, yesterday the way you knew
when your journey comes to an end
it’s because ~ I carried you!

If the Lord Should Tarry

If the Lord should tarry,
and I have to wait another day
I will endure what life brings me
as I continue to believe and pray.

If I have to remain,
in this earthly body still longer
I will keep my hopes in the Lord
and my faith will become stronger.

If I have to linger,
and my departure takes more time
I will ask  the Lord for patience
and over every obstacle I will climb.

If I have to wait,
until the Lord finally comes for me
I will have the perseverance
to ride out every rough, stormy sea.

If the Lord should tarry,
and I have to wait another day
I will endure what life brings me
but my sights are set on that day!

Hebrews 10:37-38a
King James Version

and he that shall come will come,
and will not tarry.
Now the just shall live by faith:

I Will Not Be Moved ~

Though, my troubles are many,
and surround me night and day
I shall not be moved . . .
for the Lord will make for me a way.

Though, my burdens are heavy,
and follow me wherever I go
I shall not be moved . . .
for the Lord’s will I shall know.

Though, my enemies oppress me,
and try to keep me down
I shall not be moved . . .
for the Lord will keep me sound.

Though, my days are numbered,
and the end may be near
I shall not be moved . . .
for the Lord takes away my fear.

Though, my nights are lonely,
and filled with darkness and dread
I shall not be moved . . .
for the Lord will keep me in His stead.

Thought, I may be weak,
and at times I can barely hang on
I shall not be moved . . .
for the Lord is my Rock and my brawn!

King James Version

He is my defence; I shall not be moved.”

Thank You Lord ~

Thank You Lord,
for giving me ~ my heart’s desire
thank You for keeping my soul
for You, on constant fire.

Thank You for Your beauty,
the gift of Your grace
thank You for keeping me warm
in Your everlasting embrace.

Thank You for this moment,
when I feel You so very close
thank You for always being
the heartbeat in my prose.

Thank You for answering,
my heart’s deepest prayer
thank You for showing me . . .
how much ~ for me You care.

Thank You from the top,
and the bottom of my heart
thank You so much,
for giving me this new start!

Today ~

Lord, today you showed me,
just how much you care
with the answer
to my prayer.

You reached down,
gently touched my soul
healed this broken vessel
once again made me whole.

Lord, today you reminded me,
of just how good You are
You are my ever bright
and shinning Morning Star.

All darkness is gone,
now Your light does shine
where fear once was
now Your peace is mine.

Lord, today you reminded me,
of Your perfect love
how to keep my eyes
focused on things above.

To see the many things,
You always do for me
You are the living example
of how I need always be!

Change Me Lord ~

Change Me Lord ~ CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann
Change me Lord,
I know that I should be . . .
a different kind of person
than the one that I call me.

Change me Lord,
there’s so much You can do
take this old life of mine
and make me someone new.

Change me Lord,
from the inside out . . .
to trust in only You
without fear or doubt.

Change me Lord,
make my heart grow true
help me to see the sin
in the things I say and do.

Change me Lord,
show me what I do wrong
take away my weakness
make me someone strong.

Change me Lord,
till I see You’re all I need
to live my life just like You
in my every act and deed.

Matthew 9:16

When You Pray ~

When you pray draw near to God,
and ask to know His will
give Him your praise and adoration
and believe your request He’ll fulfill

When you pray come to your Father,
confess and repent of your sin
then trust Him with all your heart
and His Spirit will dwell within.

When you pray call upon your Lord,
stand on the authority of His name
have faith in all of your petitions
and be sure His strength you claim.

When you pray go to the throne,
boldly ask, seek and knock
you’ll never find His door closed
it is always open to His flock.

When you pray draw near to God,
then agree, watch and obey
He wants you to persevere
until His answers come your way!

Matthew 6:6
King James Version

“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet,
and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father
which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth
in secret shall reward thee openly.

He is the Bridegroom yet to come.

He has many wonderful names,
on which we can surely call
but, Jesus . . . my Blessed Redeemer
is my favorite one of them all!
