My mind said to me,
look at what you can do
my heart responded . . .
Lord, not without you.
My mind told me,
all this could be yours
my heart answered . . .
don’t open those doors.
My mind stressed to me,
see all you can enjoy
my heart advised . . .
don’t fall for satan’s ploy.
My mind reasoned with me,
you needn’t be concerned
my heart spoke clearly . . .
that’s not what you’ve learned.
My mind said to me,
ah, go ahead and just do it
my heart told me . . .
don’t listen to that evil spirit!

Matthew 4:8-10
Again, the devil taketh him up into
an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth
him all the kingdoms of the world,
and the glory of them;
And saith unto him, All these things
will I give thee, if thou wilt fall
down and worship me.
Then saith Jesus unto him,
Get thee hence, Satan: for it
is written, Thou shalt worship
the Lord thy God, and him only
shalt thou serve.

Today I’m redeeming,
the time God’s allotted
I’ll use it wisely
so evil can be spotted.
I am going to walk,
so ever cautiously
my steps I will pan
very carefully.
Today I’m redeeming,
every hour of my day
I’ll be ready to face
whatever comes my way.
My armor I’ll have on,
into God’s Word I will slip
so that into temptation
I will not fall or trip.
Today I’m redeeming,
cashing in on God’s power
for I know the day is evil
and satan’s out to devour!

Redeeming the time,
because the days are evil.”

Holy Spirit,
we all need You
to help us daily
to battle through.
Without Your strength,
to overcome
to each temptation
we would succumb.
Holy Spirit,
God’s gift to us
in Your power
we need to trust.
Without Your courage,
to make us willing
to the world ways
we’d still be living.
Holy Spirit,
who dwells within
only You can give us . . .
power over sin!

Acts 1:8
“But ye shall receive power,
after that the Holy Ghost
is come upon you:”
1 Corinthians 10:13
“There hath no temptation taken you
but such as is common to man:
but God is faithful, who will
not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation
also make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.”

I will overcome,
I’ll have victory . . .
I will not be taken in
by satan’s trickery.
To the devil’s traps,
I will not go into
to his every lie
I will not pursue.
To temptation,
I will not fall
to false religion
I’ll not heed its call.
To worldly wealth,
I’ll not concede
to its evil ways
I will not proceed.
To lustful pleasure,
I will not give in
to vain ambition
I’ll not be driven.
To hollow friendships,
I’ll not be charmed
to immoral living
I’ll not be warmed.
I will have victory,
I will overcome . . .
to the world’s darkness
I will not succumb!

There’s a lot of temptation,
that we must daily fight
there is a lot of confessing
when you walk in the light.
There’s a lot of acknowledging,
the sinfulness we daily fight
there is a lot of repenting
when you walk in the light.
There’s a lot of recognizing,
the evil we daily fight
there is a lot of conviction
when you walk in the light.
There’s a lot of fessing up.
toย the vices we daily fight
there is a lot to let go of
when you walk in the light.
There’s a lot of temptation,
that we must daily fight
there is true repentance
when you walk in the light!

1 John 1:7-9
“But if we walk in the light,
as he is in the light, we have
fellowship one with another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ
his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin,
we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.”

Reaped from the field,
ready was I . . .
to meet my Savior
and give faith a try.
Just like wheat,
needing to be threshed
I found myself separating
from the things of the flesh.
Little did I know,
I too needed to be sifted
until every imperfection
was raised and lifted.
Then along came satan,
my faith he tested
but on Christ Jesus
my salvation rested.
Reaped from the field,
now I’m fully converted
for to satan lies . . .
I’ve been amply alerted!

Luke 22:31-32
“And the Lord said,
Simon, Simon, behold,
Satan hath desired
to have you,
that he may sift
you as wheat:
But I have prayed
for thee,
that thy faith fail not: and
when thou art converted,
strengthen thy brethren.”

I am a new creature,
for I am forgiven
ever since my life
to Jesus I have given.
I am now set free,
from my past behaviors
and behind God’s back
are all of my failures.
Any kind of temptation,
I am competent to flee
now that the Holy Spirit
dwells inside of me.
I am not ashamed,
nor am I considered guilty
for Jesus paid the debt
for my every iniquity.
I am a repenter,
I’ve been transformed
ever since the day
to Jesus I conformed!

Lord, my spirit is willing,
but oh, how my flesh is weak
I would do anything . . .
if I could hear You speak.
Then you could tell me,
straight to my face . . .
what I need to do
to win the faithful race.
Lord, my heart is truly eager,
but, my body fights so hard
I’ve got my battle wounds
I know that I am scarred.
But, I know You can give,
me the faith and power
so that I can overcome . . .
the one who’s out to devour.
Lord, my spirit is ready,
make my flesh willing too
so I may resist temptation
and claim my victory in You!

Mark 14:38

“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.
The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.โ
