Risky Business ~

It’s risky business,
thinking God can be mocked
it’s deceiving thinking
His wrath can be stopped.

It’s foolishness to think,
you won’t reap what you sow
it’s pure folly thinking
you sins, God will never know.

It’s ignorant to believe,
God sin will never judge
it’s hypocrisy
from your ways not to budge.

It’s unwise to keep on living,
conformed to this world
it’s arrogant to think
with God you can even quarrel.

It’s risky business,
thinking God you can mock
and on your sinful living . . .
it is time to take stock!

Galatians 6:7

“Be not deceived;
God is not mocked:
for whatsoever a man soweth
that shall he also reap.”

Humility ~

Humility ~ CHRISTian poetry by deborah ann

If you want humility,
you will need to find
a way to unveil haughtiness
in your heart and mind.

For, when you reveal,
the smugness deep within
humility will start . . .
to trickle right on in.

If you want humility,
you will need to see
just how self-absorbed
you can truly be.

For, when you uncover,
your self-righteousness
humility with expose . . .
God’s righteousness.

If you want humility,
you’ll need to discover
just how arrogant
you can be to others.

For, when you explore,
your self-obsessed feelings
humility will have you . . .
before God kneeling!

Proverbs 18:12

“Before destruction the heart
of man is haughty,
and before honour is humility.”

The Landmine of Pride ~

the-landmind-of-pride-christian-poetry-by-deborah-ann

The landmine of pride,
we all step on it
we all think at times
God we can outwit.

We fall into the snare,
of becoming self-reliant
but, what we really are
is being to God defiant.

The landmine of pride,
is  satan’s human trap
he knows it will go off
when our ego’s we tap.

We don’t see the danger,
until after it explodes
and all of our arrogance
God in our life exposes.

The landmine of pride,
will blow up in our face
unless we let God defuse it
with His saving grace!

and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

Yuck!

Broken by Matt Gruber free photo #285

Lord, today I looked in the mirror,
and I didn’t like what I saw
for I looked past my wrinkles
and saw my spiritual flaws.

All that I could see,
was my selfishness and pride
from the yuck and ugliness
I couldn’t run and hide.

When will I ever learn,
to put others first . . .
Lord, how much longer
till my ego, will You burst.

My self-importance,
is haughtiness evil twin
and arrogance and conceit
to You, is just plain sin.

Lord, today I looked in the mirror,
I witnessed what others see
and I’m sad to say it’s a far cry . . .
of Your image inside me!

Don’t Boast!

for-what-is-your-life_used with permission IBible Verses

Don’t boast about tomorrow,
or brag about today
don’t plan your course of action
or go off in your own way.

Don’t say I will do this,
or try a little bit of that
don’t show off your deeds
or give yourself a pat.

For arrogance to the Lord,
is really just a sin
for all that you accomplish
it’s all rubbish if not for Him.

But if you seek God’s will first,
He will lead you from here on
for your life is but a vapor
and one day . . .
it’ll just vanish and be gone!

~~~~~~~~~~
James 4:13-17
King James Version
“Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow
we will go into such a city, and continue
there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.
For what is your life? It is even a vapour,
that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will,
we shall live, and do this, or that.
But now ye rejoice in your boastings:
all such rejoicing is evil.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good,
and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
A Humble Heart ~
Blessed are The Meek used with permission IBible Verses
Jesus, give me a humble heart,
teach me to have a meek attitude
take from me, my selfish pride
fill my soul with eternal gratitude.
Disrobe me of my self-importance,
strip my conceit and arrogance
remove the smugness on my face
rip away any self-imposed relevance.
Cloth me in Your righteousness,
wrap me in Your truth and love
cover me with the Holy Spirit
bind me to Your Father up above.
Jesus, give me a holy humbleness,
dispose of any remaining selfish debris
take from me my self-centerness
let humility bend my prideful knee!
James 4:6
King James Version
“But He gives more grace. Therefore He
says: ” God resists the proud, But
gives grace to the humble.”
Jesus is the well of the living water, the Holy Spirit.
“It was the last and most important day of the Feast. Jesus stood up and spoke in a loud voice. He said, "Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Does anyone believe in me? Then, just as Scripture says, streams of living water will flow from inside him." When he said this, he meant the Holy Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus would receive the Spirit later. Up to that time, the Spirit had not been given. This was because Jesus had not yet received glory.” ‭‭(John‬ ‭7:37-39‬)
