~ A Thankful, Grateful Heart ~

Lord, give me a thankful heart,
one that is appreciative . . .
one that to all Your blessings
is attuned and sensitive.
Let it be a heart,
that sings its daily praise
let it be my heartfelt gratitude
that to You I earnestly raise.
Let me have a heart,
truly thankful for all things
no matter what in my life
You should choose to bring
Let my heart flow with,
the rivers of Your peace
so my appreciation to You
I may continually release.
Lord, give me a thankful heart,
one that is steadily hopeful
let it be the heart of one . . .
who is to You truly grateful!

Count all your blessings,
every single blessed one . . .
add them all together
be grateful for the sum.
Be thankful for all you have,
convey your gratitude
let your appreciation
reflect in your attitude.
Appreciate your wealth,
no matter how great or small
show your gratefulness
to God who supplies it all.
Let your thankfulness,
reach across the whole land
freely give to others
what God’s put in your hand.
Count all your blessings,
so many have not any. . .
give to them all you can
even if it’s your last penny!

Mark 12:41-44
And Jesus sat over against
the treasury, and beheld
how the people cast money
into the treasury: and many
that were rich cast in much.
And there came
a certain poor widow,
and she threw in two mites,
which make a farthing.
And he called unto him his
disciples, and saith unto them,
Verily I say unto you,
That this poor widow
hath cast more in, than all
they which have cast into
the treasury:
For all they did cast in of
their abundance; but she
of her want did cast in all
that she had, even all her living.

Thanksgiving is the time,
of finding true contentment
a time to praise God . . .
without any resentment.
A time to discover,
the secret of gratitude
a time to let thanksgiving
become our daily attitude.
Thanksgiving is the time,
of finding satisfaction
a time for appreciation
no matter our condition.
It’s a time to be thankful,
to God for everything
a time to be grateful
for whatever He may bring.
Thanksgiving’s a cornucopia,
of having true contentment
for all those who on God . . .
are genuinely dependent!

Philippians 4:11-13
Not that I speak in respect of want:
for I have learned, in whatsoever
state I am, therewith to be content.
I know both how to be abased,
and I know how to abound:
every where and in all things
I am instructed both
to be full and to be hungry,
both to abound and to suffer need.
I can do all things through
Christ which strengtheneth me.

Father, how can I show my gratitude,
my gratefulness for all You’ve done
how can I show my thankfulness
for the eternal gift of Your Son?
What can I do to repay You,
for the kindness You’ve shown me
what can I give back to You
so my appreciation You can see?
How can I render my thanksgiving,
the sense of my true gratification
how can I ever prove to You
the full delight of my satisfaction?
Father, how can I show my gratitude,
my gratefulness for all You do
how can I show my thankfulness
if I am not always praising You?

Gratitude believes God,
is in absolute control
it trusts His provision
with a meek, humble soul.
Gratitude shows God,
how much it is thankful
daily it has an attitude
of being heartily grateful.
Gratitude has true rest,
peace and contentment
for what life may bring
it holds no resentment.
Gratitude finds real joy,
upon the dawn of day
it shows God adoration
whatever He sends its way.
Gratitude if full of praise,
thankfulness and gladness
gratitude rejoices . . .
over God and His goodness!

Thanksgiving time,
again is drawing near
a time to let God . . .
our gratitude hear.
But we need to go past,
just this time of the year
and make sure God always
our thanksgiving hears.
Thanksgiving time,
isnโt just for the holidays
for a grateful heart . . .
is thankful for all its days.
For no matter the season,
to God we must raise
continual offerings
of our heartfelt praise.
Thanksgiving isnโt the only time,
for us to be thankful
it is the daily fruit . . .
of those who are truly grateful!

May the greatness of Godโs mercy,

may the vastness of His love

When with God we’re repentant,
and fall under His submission
praise and thanksgiving . . .
will become our daily mission.
For, those who trust God,
know all will be Okay
no matter what may come
or what He sends our way.
When with God we’re humble,
and self-denial is the rule
our thanksgiving for all things
will be our spiritual fuel.
For, those who are hopeful,
know God won’t send anything
that would ever keep them
from Him worshiping.
When with God our attitudes,
are positive and confident
our praise and thanks to Him
will be in our lives, dominate!

When I think of all the things,
this year for which I’m thankful
there are a few that stand out
that leave me eternally grateful.
I’m thankful for God’s mercy
for His unmerited favor
I am grateful for His gift
of Christ Jesus, my Savior
I am thankful for His grace,
for the love Jesus showed
I am forever appreciative
for the hope in me He bestowed.
I am thankful for my faith,
the forgiveness of my sin
I am grateful over satan
the battle God and I can win.
So, with a shout of gratitude,
I will close out this year . . .
with a heart full of gladness
having nothing to fear!

May the voice of thanksgiving,
be heard joyfully today . . .
may words of gratefulness
be sung heartily as we pray.
May our heartfelt thoughts,
offer God His due praise
may we be grateful
as our thanks to Him we raise.
May the voice of gratitude,
be heard loud and clear
may our humble thanks
be detected by every ear.
May our praise be sung,
at our dinner table today
may our thanks transcend
beyond Thanksgiving Day.
May the voice of thanksgiving,
be our joyful noise today . . .
may our words of gratitude
be heard by God everyday!

I’m learning a new language,
its called gratitude . . .
and it begins with having
a thankful attitude.
Its vocabulary,
is easy to understand
for gratitude is as simple as
offering a helping hand.
I don’t have to say any words,
or even write them down
for gratitude can be heard
without making a single sound.
There isn’t a special course,
to study or memorize
for gratitude can be picked up
by hearing others cries.
This dialect is universal,
anyone can speak it
for it is the language
of the Holy Spirit!

It’s not just on Thanksgiving,
that we’re to be thankful . . .
it’s not only on this one day
that we’re to be grateful.
It’s about being appreciative,
every day in every way
it’s all about our attitude
in the things we do and say.
It’s not about the tasty food,
on today’s white linen table
it’s not about the fine dining
on Thanksgiving Day staples.
It’s about the provisions,
God gives us all year through
it’s about how we receive them
what with them we opt to do.
It’s not about what we have,
and all our many blessings
it’s not about the pumpkin pie
or the turkey’s oyster dressing.
It’s all about us sharing,
with those who have not
it’s all aboutย loving others
in deed, not just in thought!

Lord, I am so very thankful,
for all You’ve given me
for giving me the eyes of faith
so Your blessings I could see.
Thankful for each season,
You have brought me though
thankful for the cross
that keeps me close to You.
Thankful for the Good Word,
so I may study and read
thankful that I have learned
it’s only You I really need.
Thankful for the good days,
and the bad ones too
thankful that no matter what
they all led me right to You.
Thankful You’re always there,
to listen to my prayers
thankful I can talk to You
and give You all my cares
Thankful for Your grace,
for Your love bountiful
and I want You to know
I think Your wonderful!

King James Version
“O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name:
make known his deeds among the people.
Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him:
talk ye of all his wondrous works.
Glory ye in his holy name:

Seek the LORD, and his strength:
seek his face evermore.

his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;”

I love this time of year,
with Thanksgiving just ahead
it reminds me of some facts
in the Bible I have read . . .
In all things be grateful,
let joy and praise flow out of you
for everything be thankful
give God the glory He is due.
Make peacefulness your habitation,
let your gentleness be known
be kind, tender-hearted and forgiving
never be the first to cast a stone.
Extend a hand to the needy,
let charity be your perfect gift
help all those who have not
bring back to God those adrift.
Show others your appreciation,
let them see your gratitude
bless them for their helpfulness
be not selfish in your attitude.
Reach out to the sick and hurting,
let them see Jesus’ true compassion
show all acts of grace and mercy
let not the sun go down on your passion.
Be content with all that you have,
rejoice in whatever is your state
be satisfied with all of the goodness
God places each day on your plate.
In everything be thankful,
let your praise be heard by all
in everything be grateful
let your joy be seen by all!

It’s easy to be thankful,
when things are going well
when we are trouble-free
no fears on which to dwell.
But, when burdens become,
crushing and all-consuming
it’s hard to show gratitude
when stress is ever-looming.
It’s difficult to say thank you,
in the middle of our strife
it’s not easy to be grateful
for the trials in this life.
How can we be thankful,
in every single thing
rejoicing in the hardships
that living often brings?
It takes a heart of faith,
an unwavering trust
it take a soul that knows
being prayerful is a must!
