As for me and my house . . .
I’m asking Jesus to come to live
my heart and my soul to Him
I’m going to open up and give.
But, first I’ll make it ready,
and clean up the dirty mess
I’ll search my heart to see . . .
any hidden sin to confess.
Then I’ll toss out my idols,
keeping me away from Him
the ones new and shiny
all those growing old and dim.
I will toss them all out,
replace them with my Bible
with the books of preachers
whom I know are reliable.
I’m making sure I am ready,
so the Lord I can serve
because me and my house . . .
know it’s what Jesus deserves!

Joshua 24:15
“And if it seem evil unto
you to serve the Lord,
choose you this day whom
ye will serve; whether the
gods which your fathers
served that were on the
other side of the flood,
or the gods of the Amorites,
in whose land ye dwell:
but as for me and my house,
we will serve the Lord.”

Once you repent,
fruit you will bear
for all of your sins
will be laid out bare.
For a contrite heart,
will forsake all evil
follow no longer
the ways of the devil.
Once you profess,
you are a sinner
worldly conforming
no longer will hinder.
For a penitent soul,
desires no more
of what the world
has for it in store.
Once you repent,
you’ll bear the fruit
of true repentance
so sin can’t take root!

When you’ve fallen,
don’t you keep down
instead turn to God
right back around.
For we all have fallen,
in some kinda of way
but, it’s not where God
wants us to ever stay.
When you’ve blown it,
don’t you feel deflated
instead turn back to God
and He will be elated.
For the devil desires,
that we shouldn’t rise
but, a heart repentant
is a blessing to God’s eyes.
When you have fallen,
turn back to God right away
and He will put you back
on the straight pathway!

Lord, let me not be,
so easy on me
so that my faults
I cannot see.
For, You know my heart,
better than I . . .
from You I can’t hide
the plank in my eye.
Lord, help me to be,
with myself forthright
so I don’t come across
as not being contrite.
For, You know my thoughts,
better than I
You can always see
through my every lie.
Lord, be honest with me,
as my heart You ponder . . .
for I don’t want You to be
to me a one-time wonder!

Look at me Jesus,
look at what You’ve done
You took this sinner
made me with You one.
You took this hard heart,
once made of cold stone
put into me one of flesh
and made it Your home.
Look at me Jesus,
look at all You did for me
you’ve taken blinded eyes
so Your love I could see.
You took away my shame,
dried up tears, repentant
so that on Your grace
I’d become dependent.
Look at me Jesus,
look at my thankful soul
for in You it is now . . .
made complete and whole!

A broken spirit,
sin’s conviction
a life now rid
of its infliction.
A contrite heart,
pride’s rejection
a life now free
of its direction.
A humble mind,
greed’s ejection
a life now rid
of its reflection.
A soul repentant,
shames detection
a life now purged
of its condition.
A broken spirit,
humble and contrite
is a life no longer . . .
without His light!

a broken and a contrite heart,
O God, thou wilt not despise.”
