Can we agree,
to disagree . . .
can we concur
our differences
to defer.
For we’ll never see,
eye to eye . . .
for my love
for Jesus
I’ll not deny.
Can we agree,
not to offend . . .
can we decide
our rifts
to suspend.
For we’ll never see,
things the same . . .
for my faith
is in Jesus
His peace my aim.
Can we agree,
to disagree . . .
so we can
from bitterness
be set free!
~~~~~~~~
Let all bitterness,
and wrath, and anger,
and clamour, and evil
speaking, be put away
from you, with all malice:
Wow you made a poem out of something that people need to be told and exhorted about!
Yes, we need this in our world today. The hatred is so intense and so destructive!
Also, for some things there is more than one right answer. 🙂
One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.
Romans 14:5-6 New King James Version (NKJV)
Reblogged this on Faithful Steward Ministries and FSM Women's Outreach and commented:
There was a time when disagreeing parties (political, religious, etc.) could hold discussions, debates and such with civility and moral decorum. I fear that day is forever gone.
Deborah, I found much to harvest from this poem’s theme. Paying it forward in my thoughts and actions.
Yes, there is just too much nowadays to contend with . . . agreeing to disagree with humility and respect no matter what are differences are seems to be the call for us today!
