On the sea of doubt,
I have learned to be
fearless as the waves
come crashing over me.
For, I know to be strong,
even when I’m frightened
my grip on Jesus . . .
must remain tightened.
On the sea of worry,
I have learned to be
not so overwhelmed
by what I cannot see.
For, I know to be brave,
even when I’m terrified
my eyes on Jesus . . .
musn’t be cast aside.
The lessons on the seas,
of worry and doubt . . .
have taught me how to shut
fear and apprehension out!
~~~~~~~~
Be strong and of a good courage,
fear not, nor be afraid of them:
for the Lord thy God, he it is
that doth go with thee; he will
not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
He maketh the storm a calm,
so that the waves thereof are still.
A beautiful and heartfelt poem accentuating the unconditional trust we must have in Lord Jesus. Thank you Deborah Ann.
On the sea of Galilee He calmed the storm, not only by scolding the wind or the mighty waves. But by scolding the fear and doubt which confused the minds of His disciples and the storm became calm. Everything is subjected to Him, even confusions (storms) of our everyday lives.
Confusions
Confusion in the mind
will leave you so exposed.
From every angle Lord,
I’m tempted and I’m tried.
At the Bench of Justice
my wrongs are read aloud,
when the sly accuser
displays my darker side.
Outside the court room door
he sings another song.
With words of blasphemy,
he tells me You’re to blame.
You clothe Your chosen sons
with blessings, one by one.
The rest is bound for hell
to eat their bread of shame.
Now he’s lisping in my head.
Again it’s I against myself.
Cold reason shouts for facts
but in faith I’m holding on.
Through strange disparities
a feud is fueled inside.
By flames of biased war
my inner peace is tried.
My prayer to You my Lord;
“Like Job, I must not fail.
He was a righteous man
and never bent to doubt.
Guide me through Your Spirit
to hold on to the end.
By night with lofty fire,
by day a gracious cloud.”
“The sinner that am I,
too weak to fight alone.
Calls to You for mercy,
for Your gift of saving Grace.
Mute the tempter’s voice,
I’m tired and afraid.
Enforce my shaky steps,
my Love, my Hope, my Faith.”
