I believe in the literal Genesis account something that is discarded by many who call themselves Theistic Evolutionists (Some prefer the term Evolutionary Creationist). It is a shame that so many think that science trumps the Word of God. I have been told, more than once, that the word “Theory” means something different when referring to “The Theory of Evolution.” They say that in the case of “The Theory of Evolution” there is so much evidence that it is much more than just a theory. I think they should change the terminology to say what they really believe, like “The Reality of Evolution.” Then people would know that both cannot be true. A literal Genesis and the “Theory” of Evolution are two different things.
I’ve really enjoyed your recent creation posts, Deborah Ann. They are a blessing. I pray all is well and that you have a blessed day! 🙂

Is this the same as what they call Intelligent Design? My husband has been reading about this and it sounds the same or similar. There are so many crazy thoughts out there. Everyone trying to figure out what the Bible makes so clear. I keep up with some of the “New Age” ideas, thoughts and theories and all they do is confuse me . . . All is going well so far today hope and pray yours is too! ~ Blessings and prayers for you and yours ~

Thank you for your kind words, Deborah.

Intelligent Design proponents believe that “the theory that life, or the universe, cannot have arisen by chance and was designed and created by some intelligent entity.”
This means that the designer doesn’t have to be the God of the Bible. Some ID folks are Christians and some aren’t. If the movie “Expelled, No Intelligence Allowed” is even semi-accurate though, many in the evolution community do not like the term Intelligent Design for various reasons.
I may be wrong, but it seems that the Judeo-Christian God is the one scientists get most upset about as they sometimes associate ID with it. One thing is certain, the literal Genesis account is considered a fable by the majority of evolutionary scientists by a long shot. And I, for one, disagree with them. I take it literally and think that science and the Bible will one day line up perfectly as I believe the God of Genesis is the greatest scientist of them all since he is the Creator of it all per John 1 and so many other Bible verses.

I too take it literally and if that makes me stupid in their eyes so be it for it is the foundation of my faith and nothing will shaken me from or off it. I have read a lot about their arguments and I for one think we need to be grounded in the Word before we start exploring what other theories are out there as I believe satan uses them to sway people his way through them. I will stick to my Bible, a few commentaries and other books by the old tried and true and let the the “theorists” keep trying to disprove what I know is the truth! That’s my story and I am sticking with it 🙂 ~ Prayers and blessings sent your way ~

“…if that makes me stupid in their eyes so be it…”

My sentiments exactly, Deborah Ann. I was in a conversation for a short time today and it seemed that the one with the least humility was a Doctor in some area of science. I hope my judgment was off. Even the more honest scientists think that scientific proof is a myth.
How many times has God “proved” His word to us? I know that certain scientists would scoff at the idea but it should be the reality in a Christian’s walk. The topic reminds me a few of my favorite verses:

[5] “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” -Proverbs 3

I’ve found God’s word to be ultimately dependable like a house built on a rock, not like a house built on sand like the ever changing scientific thinking of the day.
