I got me this thing,
but, at it I don’t look
instead my eyes are on
what’s in the Good Book.
This thing is pretty heavy,
but, it doesn’t weigh me down
because I am focusing
on my everlasting crown.
One thing I know for sure,
what I have is temporal
and all that really matters
is what will be eternal.
This thing is quite annoying,
it’s always in my face
but, I can see right past it
through the eyes of God’s grace.
I got me this affliction,
but, over it I don’t worry
for my eyes are set on seeing . . .
God in all His wondrous glory!
~~~~~~~
“For our light affliction,
which is but for a moment,
worketh for us a far more
exceeding and eternal
weight of glory;
While we look not at the things
which are seen, but at the things
which are not seen: for the things
which are seen are temporal;
but the things which are not seen
are eternal.”
Hi Deborah Ann. Hannah just told me that she is giving books away for free if you are interested in trying anything of hers. The free giveaway starts on Tuesday, September 27th. I think it can be found then at this link:
Wow, that’s nice Deborah Ann. Please let me know what you think when you finish it (or if it doesn’t interest you enough to finish it). I’m curious to know your honest opinion. Only if time allows, of course. 🙂
I never really got into poetry as a youngster or even after that. I appreciate art in any form that’s Godly, nowadays You are my favorite poet and you are welcome for the reblog. I wish you a wonderful day as well. I did have a blessed day with a fine group of 3rd graders. They made me smile.
I always liked poetry . . . reading it mostly. I only really got into writing my version of poetry about five-years ago. I am glad you enjoy what God gives me to write about. I have a grandson in the third grade he is such a joy to have around and I love his child like faith we have a lot in common as I claim to have the faith of a child too 🙂
2 “And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, 3 and said, ‘Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.'” Matt. 18
I think your poetry is evidence that your claim is true. 🙂
The trait of being like a child was very important to Jesus. Someone told me the other day: “You can learn a lot from kids.” I completely agreed.
It sounds like you and your grandson are blessed to have each other.
I would have guessed you were doing this longer than 5 years but I bet you’ve been reading your Bible longer than that.
I hope you have a blessed day, Deborah Ann.
YEs, they constantly remind me to laugh at the little things and not to take them too seriously 🙂 they remind me of the energy I once had 🙂 and they remind me that faith like a child is so absorbing. I watch as they take in the truth about God and Jesus and like sponges soak it all in, never doubting, always trusting. Right now they have a no questions asked attitude and I like that. I tell them who are we to argue with or question GOD!
I have a few people who are encouraging me to make a book of my poems so maybe this winter when things are slower I will look into it. In the meantime I will pray and see where God leads.
~ Blessings always to you and yours Chris ~
You see the same things in children that I do, Deborah Ann. You have summarized them very well in my opinion. 🙂
A book would be great! You can publish one online or in tangible form or both. It is a hard thing for many to decide which way they would like to go. My daughter currently has 7 books published online. She sets her own price but she has given them away free quite a few times. She plans on her series being 12 books long. When she isn’t giving her books away, her price is very reasonable. Her audience is mostly those with disabilities and her target age is teens and young adults. Anyone can read one though.
I remember her going through the process of trying to decide how best to publish her books. She thought that, at this time, the best way to go would be online. Others try to go through book publishers and some even print their own books or have a printer print them.
You may already have a good feeling about which way you want to publish your poems. If you decide to publish your poems, I hope that more people are exposed to them as, I think and have mentioned more than once, your poems are encouraging and unique. 🙂
I remember a while back you said your daughter had books published on line. Did she use Amazon? Do you have a link to where her books are at? I would love to check it out as I think this is where God is leading me, but I am still waiting for a definite go ahead from Him. Hope you are having a wonderful week filled with truth and light 🙂
I saw the comments, Deborah Ann. All you did was tell it like it is and you used scripture to support you. What more can anyone ask of any Christian? I think it is a very honest and true poem. I can’t vote for Hillary either for many reasons that I consider Biblical. Honesty and regard for life are very important Biblical issues. They don’t seem to be important to Hillary. I agree with you that we will get whomever God gives us and we deserve it.
As another blogger brought out . . . she cannot vote for a baby-killer and neither can I. So with that being said I now need to decided who I will vote for . . . I am thinking of just writing in Jesus’ name and be done with the whole thing! Read half of your daughters book and so far I an enjoy it. When I am done I will email you with a more thought out thought! ~ Hope you are having a blessed day with our wonderful Savior ~
