By His Grace ~

My Grace is Sufficient used with permission Doorpost Verses

Sometimes, it’s hard to get up,
to greet a brand new day
sometimes, I think in my bed
I should cover up and stay.

Sometimes, it’s hard to put,
one foot, in front of the other
sometimes, I ask myself . . .
why should I even bother.

Sometimes, it’s hard to dress,
to wash my face and hair
sometimes, the pain I feel
is just too much to bear.

Sometimes, it’s hard to leave,
to close and lock the door
sometimes, I don’t want to go
even to my favorite store.

But, whenever I start to feel,
today ~ I just cannot do . . . .
Jesus whispers in my ear
“My grace will get you through!”


2 Corinthians 12:9

“And he said unto me,
My grace is sufficient for thee:
for my strength is made perfect
in weakness. Most gladly therefore
will I rather glory in my infirmities,
that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

    Two things are phenomenal here! 1. This is obviously a beautiful, heartfelt poem to soothe the souls of all readers. Also, this piece by you describes my day today, and a lot of days I struggle in, like this one.
    2. This is a miracle for me. An answer. I have to tell someone! The first time I ever came across this verse was today when using a women’s Bible study book to help me better understand the Bible and how God’s Word can help me in what I am going through. Then, later on in the evening the same verse was shared by a group page on a Facebook image/poster in my News Feed-a Second time, I was like Wow… Then, thirdly… Your poem!!! This is clearly meant for my eyes. It must be what God is telling me. My answer. Three times this verse was revealed to me today. I studied on that verse a lot before it kept showing up. I understand that the verse means that the Grace of God is enough for us, but my understanding of the second part about His strength made perfect in weakness is sort of cloudy for me. I feel bad because I don’t completely get it.
    Could you explain what this verse means to you.

      This is so exciting to read . . . I love when God brings things like this to us . . . when He wants to get our attention . . . He will pursue us anyway He can.

      Paul admits to having a thorn in his flesh (2 Corinthians 12.7) . . . what kind we do not know for sure . . . but we know it was troublesome for Paul. I believe we all have something that is troublesome to us, be it times of . . . depression, illness, pain, temptation, lack of trust . . . or something that is preventing us from going to Jesus who is the source of our strength.

      It is when in our own human, natural, sinful state, that we admit we are weak, that alone we cannot do anything, that God’s grace comes in and gives us His strength to do it. I have had many things happened where I was shocked and amazed how I was able to get by, through and over the obstacle (thorn) and realized I only could have done it through the power of my Lord and Savior who lives in me.

      Right now I have the thorn of constant pain . . . I live with it day in and out . . . it is my alarm bell that goes off daily to remind me of how much I need to draw from His strength and it keeps me in constant communication with Him.

      Don’t feel bad about not “completely getting it” that is the job of the Holy Spirit and He will make sure you do “get it!”

    This one got me today Deborah. I am here, in this place. I did pull the covers back over my head…and went back to bed. Am I supposed to be happy all the time? I am so tired…thank you, for pointing me to His grace. Lord, fill us both, and show us more, in Jesus Name.

      Only by His grace can we overcome those days when we fell hopeless . . . then we can let the power of our hope flow through us and in us. I know that it is the strength of Jesus that keeps me going and then I think of all of the things I can do for Him and off I go . . . It’s about Him and not me. He is making this very clear in my life right now! ~ Blessings and prayers for you today, in Jesus’ name ~
