I’m sitting here at church,
listening to the same old thing
how God wants to bless me
with lots of material bling.
Don’t want to hear my pastor,
tell another funny joke
I would rather have my soul
be stirred up and holy stoked.
Need more than just milk,
flowing through my veins
need to hear how in this world
from sin, I need to abstain.
I am ready for some fire,
with some brimstone thrown in
and if I’m to fight off Satan
I’ll need a battle plan to win.
I don’t know about you,
but I’m hungry for the meat
otherwise I’m not sure . . .
why I’m sitting in this seat!

“I have fed you with milk, and not with meat:
for hitherto ye were not able to bear it,
neither yet now are ye able”

Yes! Someone else cries out from the pew–‘Give me more!’ We need churches that move beyond pulling in seekers and teach straight-up Bible–without boring us. Your poem is divinely inspired. Love!

Thank you so much for the reblog . . . The only way I get “more” these days, is at home with my nose in the Bible! ~ Blessings ~

Deborah Ann there is a lot of milk flowing around. It seems the message in most of Christendom is “all about me”. Actually it is all about “Him”. Great piece. Sad but true!

Sad indeed and it is all about “Him” but it seems we just keep pushing Him away ๐ฆ ~ Blessings ~

I am in total agreement with your desire to have the meat of the gospel being preached from the pulpit. Unfortunately, too many of the liberal, and watered down mainline denominations have become voices of the
social issue of the day, instead of the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus of Nazareth. Many blessings to you.
