Be merciful towards me Lord,
I’m working out my salvation
with fear and trembling . . .
I’m going to win every temptation.
Be gracious towards me Lord,
I’m working to remain in Your love
with fear and trembling . . .
I’m storing my treasures up above.
Be patient towards me Lord,
I’m working to find true peace
with fear and trembling . . .
I’m looking for grace to increase.
Be gentle towards me Lord,
I’m working out Your written Word
with fear and trembling . . .
I’m practicing the truth I’ve heard.
Be compassionate towards me Lord,
I’m working hard to comprehend
with fear and trembling . . .
the fullness of You, my eternal Friend.
Be long-suffering toward me Lord,
I’m laboring to enter into Your rest
with fear and trembling . . .
I’m giving to You, my very best.
Be merciful towards me Lord,
I am working out my salvation
with fear and trembling . . .
till the day of Your glorious perfection!

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed,
not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence,
work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”

Amen Deb! I thought of this scripture as I read your poem… The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Fools despise wisdom and instruction. Your poem was a beautiful prayer to the Lord, an example of how we should all approach Him – with fear and trembling.
Love you,
Cheryl
