Take a cup of Forgiveness,
stir in some of God’s grace
then fold it into your heart
and this recipe you’ll embrace.
But, you’ll need to keep adding,
more ingredients as you go
if you plan on having a year
where Love can rise and grow.
You’re going to need Patience,
at least a cup or two . . .
if you want to have Meekness
bubbling up inside of you.
You’ll need to slowly blend in,
a heaping spoonful of Goodness
then beat it into the mixture
so you can whip up Gentleness.
Don’t forget to add a pinch of Joy,
and as you whisk it into Peace
add a dollop of Faith and Trust
and Hope you will release.
If you live in the Spirit,
you’ll need to walk in it too . . .
and if you follow this recipe
it’ll produce His fruit in you!
~~~~~~~~~
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love,
joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness,
goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance:
against such there is no law.
I just found your site! GOD bless you. I’ve read your GREAT “Recipe for A Happy New Year ” ! I love sharing poems that speak to the spirit, to my family & friend& acquaintances by phone, recited at church, church groups, school & funerals; shared in writing at work, by mail since I was a teenager; via messenger & Facebook since 2010 that my eldest grandchild went to university & later to China; & Spanish poetry via Christian Radio Station & church events. I’d love to share your poems. I share with my first cousin who lives in Florida & she shares with her bible study group. L
Have just read your Recipe for the New Year. Wonderful! Is it OK for me to include it in our church magazine – it only has 10 A5 pages and we destribute about 30 copies to our members and former members, some of whom are in Care Homes. I am sure it will be a blessing to them.
This is a very nice poem. I really like having the Christian recipe now to put along side the original Recipe for a Happy New Year that my Dad gave to me long ago. Thank you for sharing this.
I’d like to read your dads recipe for a happy New Year. I am not fond of the “real” fruit cake recipe but this one goes down really well! ~ Blessings ~
