Borrowed Time !

I’m living, on borrowed time,
right now I am in my prime
don’t know how many more days
till this old body slips away.

God’s given me another year,
I had better get into gear
got myself some work to do
before my time here is through.

I’m going to need God’s strength,
to go run the final length
got to get my act together
so these last years I can weather.

My times are in Gods’ hands,
don’t know what are His exit plans
but I need to use my days wisely
can’t take even one second lightly.

We’re all living on borrowed time,
even if you’re not in your prime
we must sacrifice worldly things . . .
if we want what eternal life brings!

What God Do You Believe In?

Some people don’t believe in God,
they can’t see the proof of His creation
they think all the beauty before them
came from the book of evolution.

Some people can’t be sure of God,
they think perhaps there may be one
but since they can’t see or feel Him
they think perhaps there may be none.

Some people don’t want to know God,
they love the darkness not His light
and upon their beds they plan
all the evil deeds they do in His sight.

Some think god and nature are one,
that he has no eyes, no ears, no face
they say he has no heart to love you
therefore, he can’t impart eternal grace.

Some people think they are god,
they don’t want to be told what to do
they are ruled by their pride and ego
and their arrogance they love to spew.

Some people think any god will do,
that one god is just as good as another
and no matter the religious path you take
it’s gonna lead us all to come together.

Some people believe in the one true God,
for He is the self-revealing God of man
and through the gift of salvation we believe
Jesus will finish ~ what He began!

Another Year is Here!

Another year has come,
and there she goes again
all of my new resolutions
I once more didn’t obtain.

As I look over my list,
I feel as if I failed . . .
so many good intentions
but, on them I truly bailed.

Who would have thought,
that only a year ago . . .
I believed I would have
so much more to show.

Well, that is it for me,
there’ll be no more list
this old one I’m holding
I’m crumbling in my fist.

This year my resolution,
will be only one thing . . .
each day I will praise my Lord
and bring glory to my King.

Yep, another year is gone,
and here she comes again
but this year’s declaration
my heart is fixen to attain!

My Comforter ~

My Comforter

I have me a companion,
a Friend that is constant
someone who will come
to my aid in an instant.

Someone I can lean on,
when I need to be soothed
someone I can trust
when I need the truth.

right along with me
someone who understands
my deepest, soulful need.

Someone who is strong,
whenever I am weak
someone who brings joy
whenever I feel bleak.

Jesus gave to me,
His Spirit as my Helper
and I always run to Him
whenever I need shelter!

that are just a waste of time.

Don’t Boast!

I love the Lord,
but, I hate the sin
that keeps me from
getting closer to Him.

It’s not the sin,
that’ll be cast into hell
but, it’s where the sinner
for eternity will dwell.

I love the Lord,
and other people too
it is the sin I hate
the evil that we do.

Without His grace,
we’d stand condemned
before God throne . . .
our sins we can’t defend.

I despise my sin,

There is a Hollow ~

an empty space I feel
and I know it’s a void
that only God can fill.

So, I turn my face to Him,
I lift up my barren soul
I pray to Him asking
to fill up the gaping hole.

He gives me His peace,
then offers up more grace

What if There Was No CHRISTmas ~

What if there was no CHRISTmas,
no Babe lying in the manger
what if the Savior wasn’t born
to heal the world’s hurt and anger?

There would be no Good Friday,
no Palm Sunday or Resurrection Day
there would be no souls to show
the Truth, the Light or the Way.

What if there was no CHRISTmas,
no freedom from our strife
no hope or any anticipation
of having a blissful eternal life?

There would be no everlasting joy,
no chance of a never-ending love
there would be no glorious meeting
with our Savior one day above.

What if there was no CHRISTmas,
no trust, no faith, no peace
no virgin birth, no Immanuel
so our pain and tears would cease?

There would be no Prince of Life,
no eternal Lord and King
there would be no motive
for the CHRISTmas songs we sing.

What if Jesus wasn’t born,

what then would be the reason
to even celebrate today?

Where is your gift of peace,
how much longer will you look
to the world for the answers
and not in the Good Book?

Where is your gift of peace,

how much longer from God

and confess to Him everything.

Making Room For Jesus ~

Making room for Jesus,
this time of the year . . .
seems almost impossible
amid all the holiday cheer.

There’s the office parties,
the children’s seasonal plays
shopping at the crowded malls
shipping and delivery delays.

Cooking, baking, sampling,
buying and trimming trees
decorating halls and hearths
let alone the outside eaves.

Taking family pictures,
printing, stamping, mailing
wrapping up all the gifts
before the big unveiling.

Cleaning, dusting, mopping,
making everything tidy
oops, don’t forget the silver
also needs to be shiny.

Then comes the big day,
out the door we go in a rush
running from house to house
for time, we’re in a crush.

Where does one find the time,
the room to fit Jesus in . . .
if not within our heart and soul
where would one begin?

Let us be as the Wise Men,
who came from afar
let us each search for God
right here, where we are.

He’ll lead us with His Word,
His Spirit will show us the way
just as the star led the Wise Men
to baby Jesus, Christmas day.

like Wise Men, offer up our praise
as we worship and adore Him
let our treasures, to Him be raised.

Christmas Time ~

Christmas time
is in the air
the perfect time
to give and share . . .

There are presents to buy
gift-wrap and tie
lots of good goodies to make
in hot ovens, they bake

Need to go out and get a tree
put up the lights for all to see
cards to address and send in the mail
gotta rush to the mall, for yet another big sale

With all the planning, that still needs to be done
this indeed is the season, which keeps us on the run
for there’s still the Christmas play and costumes to sew
by now, our heads are spinning and our tempers start to blow

Yes, this is the perfect time of sharing and giving
but, sometimes we find our attitudes quite unforgiving
for we forget of the true meaning and the glory it holds
the birth of our precious Savior so long ago foretold

In all of the rush of getting ready for the season
we often don’t have time to reflect on the true reason
we’re too busy, too hassled, too tired, and yes too broke
making it  hard to see past all the holiday mirrors and smoke.

We put lights up on our home and our Christmas tree
but, instead let the light of Christ in you, be what others see
we give presents and gifts to those that we love
but, instead let us give the free Gift, that comes from above

We bake cookies, pies and all kinds of other sweets
but, instead give your passion for the Lord, to those you meet
for this is the season that is to be filled with complete joy
and praise for the gift God gave us . . . Mary’s sweet baby boy

So if you want to make a difference this year
forget about the sales and the holiday cheer
and remember the real reason
behind the Christmas season.

The Eternal Gift ~

The birth of baby Jesus,
our Lord and precious Savior
holds a special place
in hearts that don’t waver.

For we embrace the light,
He brought to us this day
we know Christ is the truth
and to God . . . the only way.

We relish in the eternal joy,
of what His life means to us
our greatest pleasure comes
when in Him, we put our trust.

We know mercy’s fragrance,
the aroma of God’s grace
and we can hardly wait
till we meet Him face to face.

For our Prince of Peace,
came to save us from our sin
through His almighty power
His Spirit now lives within.

I cry for the widow,
whose loved one is gone
I pray to my Savior
to Him, she’ll be drawn.

I cry for the homeless,
with nowhere to go
I pray to my Savior
His love will flow.

with nothing to eat
I pray to my Savior
their needs He’ll meet.

I cry for the sick,
those who are ailing
I pray to my Savior
to heal without delaying.

A Thousand Anxieties ~

for the relief from our pain
the weight of our cares.

A thousand worries,
too many fears to number
so many disturbing thoughts
robbing us of our  slumber.

A thousand burdens,
some too heavy to bear
a multitude of troubles
leave their wear and tear.

A thousand concerns,
a million more to come
but with faith in Jesus
we shall overcome!

Joy banishes all fear,
removes any doubt
joy that is everlasting
cannot be cast out.

Joy is the Good News,
a Savior has come
joy opens the door
to His eternal kingdom.

Joy that is great,
brings endless gladness
joy that is mighty
brings to all happiness.

Joy is for everyone,
to have and behold
this kind of joy
is heavenly gold.

Joy sets free a sinner,
brings glory to God
all who come to Jesus
will be joyfully awed!
