There once was a flag that flew high,
now it’s draped on freedoms grave
it once stood for the love of God
and the home of the faithful and brave.
In the wind, it waved in all its glory,
shedding hope and peace, in God’s light
the stars would sparkle ever so brightly
and gave confidence long into the night.
It sung of a song that we would flourish,
as it twisted and twirled in the wind
it claimed our trust and dependence
in God’s mercy, so our battles we’d win.
Now the flag of our liberty is no more,
for they have ripped ~ God from the seam
and the stars and stripes we have known
no longer stand for the american dream.
There once was a flag that flew high,
and God’s strength was its banners goal
now it flies in a state of true independence
for God is no longer ~ this countries soul!

I pray God will have mercy on our country.
That He will turn us back to Him. I pray the leaders
will not continue in the direction they are leading us
and for all to put their trusts back into God. Amen!

This is a beautiful, beautiful–and sad–poem. I join in your prayer, Debby–how I long for our country to return to the shelter and blessing of God’s planned purpose. God bless you today!
