It was there on the hill of Calvary,
where Jesus died for me
it was then that I realized . . .
with Him eternally I wanted to be.
It was there that I broke,
into a million little pieces
and gave up my burdens
for His peace that never ceases.
It was looking to the cross,
that made me see my sin
it was when I asked Jesus
to come and dwell within.
It was at His very feet,
where I laid down all my sorrow
and asked Him to be
my today and my tomorrow.
It was on the hill of Calvary,
where I left my sinful life . . .
and gave to my Savior
this world, my pain, the strife!
King James Version
“And when he had called the people unto him
with his disciples also, he said unto them,
Whosoever will come after me, let him deny
himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
